Pink Tutu Blog London: Friday 2005-08-12 - Whirlwind of Wonder in the Capital! 🩰💖

Hello, darling! Welcome back to another Pink Tutu Blog London adventure! This is post number 467, a whirl through the vibrant heart of the city. I'm Emma, your tutu-clad guide to all things pink and fabulous. As you know, I live for a good train journey and there’s no better way to reach London than on a gleaming, modern carriage, whizzing through the countryside.

Today, however, I’m not travelling alone! I have a delightful, petite companion, Pippa. She's a fellow dancer, though more of a contemporary style than the graceful, classical ballerina that I am. (Don't worry, I can't be too serious in a tutu, can I?)

We both found our way to London by train, and as soon as we arrived at Euston station, the excitement started to bubble! I was itching to hit the shops, while Pippa had her eye on the Theatre Royal Drury Lane – it’s got a big musical playing, with all the jazz hands and glittering costumes that our theatre-loving souls adore!

Morning in Pink Paradise:

The first thing I did, after collecting our bags from the cloakroom, was grab Pippa by the hand and drag her off on a shopping spree! Our mission: find a dazzling outfit that wouldn't make the queen herself jealous. Now, you might think London would be a dream come true for a girl who loves all things pink and fabulous – and you'd be right! The shops on Oxford Street are bursting with the most glorious colours and textures you can imagine. I did manage to find a gorgeous fuchsia silk top at Debenhams (I know, very predictable for me!) and a sparkling pair of silver heels with pink detailing at a tiny little boutique on Covent Garden. (I told you London is full of surprises!) Pippa was chuffed too, snagging herself a striking purple jumpsuit at River Island that she’s promising to rock in her next performance.

Lunch Time Glamour:

We stopped for lunch at a charming little cafe just off the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street. Imagine this, darling: delicious sandwiches with fresh bread, dainty afternoon tea with pink finger sandwiches, delicate pastries with buttercream flowers... the works! This was certainly a much-needed stop to refresh our dancing shoes (pun intended, of course!) before the afternoon's events.

The Stage is Set:

Speaking of events, this afternoon was all about a delightful double-header! First, Pippa, ever the contemporary dance enthusiast, took a class at the Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden. Let's just say the whole street was buzzing with energy and artistic enthusiasm!

After that, we headed to the beautiful Dominion Theatre. This is where my absolute favourite show, 'The Phantom of the Opera', is playing! It never gets old, and I was just mesmerised by the costumes and choreography. The theatre itself is just grand – all velvet seating and intricate gold decorations, giving you that old-timey, theatrical feeling. Pippa loved it too, saying it’s got all the elements of a great romantic story with drama and tragedy woven into every step. (She does have a point!)

Dancing the Night Away:

The evening held a different kind of magic. We found ourselves at a vibrant ballet performance at the Sadler's Wells theatre, featuring the legendary Mikhail Baryshnikov himself! The stage was bursting with colourful lights and dynamic moves, and I swear I felt the entire building tremble as he leaped across the stage! I just can’t imagine dancing like that - it would take more than just pink tutus and sparkly shoes to make my dreams a reality! This experience will surely remain imprinted in my mind for a long time to come.

Time for Bed:

By the time we made our way back to our charming little B&B in Kensington, my toes were tapping, my heart was fluttering, and my head was filled with dreams of tutus and stage lights. The magic of London is infectious, that’s for sure! I know tomorrow will be another exciting day full of new discoveries, so I'll need all the energy I can get!

Sleep tight, darlings, and I'll be back next Friday for more of my Pink Tutu London Adventures! Don’t forget to visit our website, www.pink-tutu.com for some tutu-rific updates and fabulous fashion finds!

With lots of twirls and even more love, Emma 💕🩰
