Pink Tutu Blog: London Adventures - Post #469
Friday, August 26th, 2005
Hello my lovely darlings! Itās Emma here, back from my whirlwind trip to London! As you know, I absolutely adore this city ā the energy, the style, the theatre, oh, and letās not forget the absolutely incredible selection of ballet shows and classes. This trip was especially magical, so grab a cuppa and let me whisk you away to my adventures.
This week's trip was a bit of a special one. I managed to snag a couple of tickets for the "English National Ballet" showing of āSwan Lakeā. You canāt really imagine the thrill ā to see such a legendary ballet, just a stoneās throw from the Thames. You canāt beat that!
Oh, and if youāre wondering about my fabulous travel wardrobe for this trip, it included, of course, my go-to pink tutu, but with a cheeky twist. I teamed it with a black lace bodice (from that amazing vintage shop near my flat, remember?) and a pair of bright pink ballet flats ā it felt so right for a ballet-filled trip! I canāt wait to show you a few snaps from my day at the Royal Opera House.
Train Adventures and London Streets
To start, let me tell you about my lovely journey to London. Thereās something so charming about a train ride through the English countryside. As we snaked through the green hills and fields, the light streamed through the windows and bathed everything in a soft glow. I took out my sketchpad and journal (always gotta be ready to capture those artistic moments!) and began to jot down my ideas. The scenery is such a lovely inspiration, donāt you think?
Upon arriving in London, I just breathed it all in. Thereās nothing quite like that fresh London air and the smell of hot buttered crumpets in the morning. Oh, don't even get me started on those quaint little cafes that are sprinkled throughout the city.
Stepping Into Style
No trip to London is complete without some serious shopping! I was determined to find the perfect vintage dress for an upcoming gala, so naturally, I spent the day meandering through the boutiques of Notting Hill and Chelsea. The quaint shops overflowing with lace, sequins, and all things feminine had me in a right frenzy! It was absolute heaven! And to think, the price of a tutu ticket is what makes it all possible. (It's always the dancers that pay the most, eh? The sacrifices we make in the name of ballet!)
Royal Ballet Performances: A Ballet Lover's Paradise
As if one ballet wasnāt enough for a single trip, I decided to indulge in a second evening at the Royal Opera House. The ballet chosen for the night? āGiselle.ā My word, it was a spectacular production, beautifully danced with the most graceful ballerinas! The music was just breathtaking - a true celebration of classic ballet! Thereās just something about seeing such a beautiful art form come to life in a theatre like that.
Sunday Morning at the Royal Opera House
One of my favourite things about visiting London is getting up on a Sunday and popping down to Covent Garden to catch a ballet class. I've always wanted to be a Royal Ballet dancer. Sadly, it's never been possible, but this is just the next best thing! The atmosphere there is buzzing. Everyone's got those elegant strides going on! There are some super-stylish outfits ā think bold leggings and shimmering tutus. I canāt wait to get a new pair to take next time! The classes are challenging, yet enjoyable - really pushing me to be my best, and, honestly, itās my favourite part of any visit.
London, My Second Home
My time in London was fleeting, but it always fills me with that sweet, joyful ache. You know what I mean? There's something so magical about a city that never sleeps, where beauty and art abound, and you never know what unexpected wonder will turn a corner.
Remember, everyone, this is the message I always bring ā *we all can wear a pink tutu, or anything we want! * It's all about embracing who we are, having fun with fashion and dancing our hearts out.
Until next week my dear friends! Remember to share your pink tutu adventures!
XOXO, Emma
