Pink Tutu Blog: London Adventures - Post #501
Friday, 7th April, 2006
Hello my darling tututistas! Welcome back to another fabulous Friday instalment of Pink Tutu Blog. This week I'm back in London! Oh, how I love this city, the bustling streets, the charming shops, the energy! But more than that, I love that London is a city where a girl in a pink tutu can feel right at home!
A Train Ride to The Big Smoke
You might be surprised to hear that I, Emma the pink-tutu wearing ballerina, travelled to London by train this time! Let me tell you, the journey was pure delight. The Derbyshire countryside whizzed by, fields of green and yellow dappled with sunshine, a reminder that spring is most definitely in the air.
I know, I know, it may not seem very glamourous to you, my dearies, but I actually find train journeys absolutely divine. It's a time to sit back, relax, sip on a nice cup of tea and gaze at the changing scenery. Plus, it gives me the opportunity to get a good dose of reading in! I'm currently lost in a delightful book called "The History of Ballet" - fascinating stuff! I mean, imagine the joy of being a dancer in the time of Queen Victoria!
Fashion In London Town
Arriving at Euston station, I was already bursting with excitement! London never fails to amaze me. This time I had planned a rather specific outing - to the world-renowned House of Fraser. It is, of course, a shrine to fashion, a treasure trove of elegant fabrics, and the epitome of classic, timeless style. I can't help myself, sometimes I need to treat myself to a bit of retail therapy, and this was just the place!
Oh, my dearies, you won't believe the stunning pink skirt I discovered nestled amongst the racks! It was almost like it was waiting for me! It had the most delicate lace detailing and flowed so gracefully, perfect for twirling, of course! It just had to come home with me. It was love at first sight.
After my triumphant shopping trip, I needed a little refuelling. Luckily, London has no shortage of charming cafés to choose from. I settled for a delightful spot near Regent's Park. The afternoon sun was pouring in through the windows, and I enjoyed a delightful slice of lemon meringue pie with a dollop of fresh whipped cream, perfect for a little afternoon treat!
On to The Stage
Tonight I’m taking in a real treat – the legendary Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House. My darling friend Emily managed to snag us tickets! This is one of the best dance companies in the world, and they're performing Swan Lake tonight, so naturally, I was beside myself with excitement. The elegant movements, the enchanting costumes, and the sheer skill and artistry – ballet always inspires me in the most beautiful way.
Later, back in my charming little hotel, I thought back on my day and all the fantastic things I experienced in this remarkable city. This time in London was simply magical. My day was a lovely mix of fashion, fun, and, of course, dance. As always, it felt like London was echoing my very own inner tutu spirit!
And Don't Forget To Spread The Pink!
It's Friday night, so my dearies, don't forget to go out there and spread the pink! This week I’d encourage you to wear a touch of pink to the pub or a restaurant – after all, a splash of pink adds a touch of whimsy to even the most ordinary occasion. Who knows, maybe someone will see you in your fabulous outfit and decide to don a pink tutu too!
And, of course, my lovely readers, be sure to share your pink moments with me! Tag your photos on Instagram with #PinkTutuBlog, and let's share the fun!
I’ll be back next week with more London adventures! Until then, may your tutus be pink and your days filled with joyful twirls!
Lots of love,
Emma,
