#PinkTutuBlogLondon: Friday 2006-04-21 - A Tutu-tastic Adventure in London!
Hello, my dearest Pink Tutu Tribe! It's Friday again, and that means it's time for another #PinkTutuBlogLondon post! ๐ฉฐ๐ธ This week, I've traded the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the bustling streets of London, and oh my, it's already been a whirlwind of pink delights.
This marks my 503rd London blog post โ can you believe it?! My journey to this fabulous city started at the crack of dawn with a steam train chugging its way from my hometown. Now, I absolutely love travelling by train โ the clickety-clack of the wheels, the soft swaying of the carriage, the passing scenery, the anticipation โ all makes my heart sing! It's almost as exciting as a ballerina taking the stage, honestly.
Of course, no trip to London would be complete without a splash of pink, so I made sure my favourite pale pink tutu was firmly secured over my vintage frock. After all, the colour pink isn't just a colour, it's a lifestyle choice! A ๅฎฃ่จ (that's Japanese for "declaration", by the way) for fun, freedom, and femininity. It just makes you want to twirl, doesn't it?
Upon arrival, the first thing I did was head to the magnificent Victoria and Albert Museum, also known as the V&A. What an amazing place! With its exquisite collection of art, design, and fashion, it truly is a treasure trove for any aspiring ballerina like myself. And guess what I stumbled upon โ a whole section devoted to the history of the tutu! Now, if that doesn't tickle your pink toes, I don't know what will!
The V&A was filled with so much inspiration. The sheer volume of exquisite clothing, from dazzling costumes to breathtaking dresses, was simply mind-blowing. My inner fashionista went wild, imagining how these gorgeous pieces could inspire my next ballet performance. The perfect tutus just need a little bit of extra sparkle!
Speaking of performance, I then dashed off to see the incredible "Swan Lake" at the Royal Opera House. This is probably one of the most iconic ballet performances ever, and let me tell you, it lived up to the hype! From the dramatic movements of the corps de ballet to the heartbreaking story of love, betrayal, and swan transformations, I was totally engrossed from start to finish. The ballerinas were just mesmerizing! It was a masterpiece!
Of course, a visit to Covent Garden wouldn't be complete without a little shopping therapy! So I sauntered down the beautiful streets of this historic district, searching for the perfect additions to my ballet wardrobe. Luckily, Covent Garden is a haven for dancers โ all sorts of stunning stores offering beautiful dance wear, beautiful ballet shoes, and exquisite jewellery, perfect for a ballerina on the go.
I couldn't resist grabbing a little pink beret, a sparkly hairband and some gorgeous ballet tights, just in case I need to make a quick outfit change. You never know when you're going to encounter an impromptu ballet session in the street, or have a chance to dazzle a few passersby with a well-placed pirouette. And if not, I'm ready to face any fashion emergencies!
After all that excitement, I needed a delicious dinner. What else could I have had but fish and chips! I made my way to a cute little pub near Covent Garden. A classic British treat! I think I need a small pink ribbon on the side of my fish and chips. What do you think?
Before heading back to my train, I popped into the glorious "Waterstones" bookshop, my happy place. Now, this isn't just any bookshop; it's a veritable wonderland of books, a paradise for bibliophiles! And they have a fantastic section devoted to all things ballet. It's a real ballerina's paradise.
With my new purchases in hand and a heart full of London magic, I hopped on the train back to Derbyshire. A week in London never feels long enough, but I have a feeling this was only the beginning of many more adventures to come!
Do you love London? Have you seen any exciting performances there lately? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
Until next week, my dearest friends, keep twirling, keep shining, and never forget to let your inner tutu shine!
With love and twirls,
Emma www.pink-tutu.com
