Pink Tutu Blog London: #513 - London Calling!

Friday 30th June 2006

Hello, darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to London, and ready to spill the tea (or should I say, the Earl Grey!) on all the fab things I experienced.

This week’s journey was made possible thanks to my brilliant performance as the Sugar Plum Fairy in the annual Derbyshire Dance Festival. Let me tell you, a tutu and a tiara are a magical combination, especially when you're surrounded by other amazing dancers. The applause, the joy, the glitter – truly a life-affirming experience! And most importantly, it helped fund my London adventure, which brings me to… TRAIN TRAVEL!

This was my third trip to the big city, and as always, I was charmed by the chug-chug of the train taking me through the beautiful countryside. There’s just something so romantic about gazing out the window at rolling hills, quaint villages, and ancient stone walls while enjoying a delicious scone with clotted cream. My trusty pink tutu got a whole lot of compliments on the journey, of course, making everyone on board feel a bit more fabulous.

Arriving at Kings Cross station felt like stepping into another world – a vibrant tapestry of faces, sounds, and scents. The air itself crackled with a thrilling energy! This was the moment I started feeling that famous London magic… you know, the kind that makes you feel like anything is possible. And don't even get me started on the sheer joy of hearing "Mind the gap!" It's like a sonic delight!

Shopping Therapy for the Soul

As soon as my feet touched the bustling pavement of Oxford Street, I knew it was time for a serious shopping spree. It's not just about buying things, lovelies, it’s about soaking in the atmosphere! There's nothing quite like strolling down Oxford Street, watching the world go by, and finding a unique treasure to add to your wardrobe.

After much browsing, I finally found the perfect outfit for the ballet: a sleek, black cocktail dress, which I paired with my signature pink tutu – an elegant contrast, don’t you think? The shoes were, of course, equally fab: shimmering silver heels, and I topped it off with a tiny pink feather boa and my biggest diamond necklace, because you never know who you might bump into in the city!

A Night at the Theatre

Now, who needs an extravagant outfit, if not for a showstopping ballet performance? Tonight, I was off to see the legendary English National Ballet in a new interpretation of "Swan Lake". Oh, my darlings, it was breathtaking! The dancers, the costumes, the story… they truly transported me to a magical realm. There was this incredible sense of awe as I watched the beautiful swans and the graceful, intricate movements, just perfectly crafted.

Afterwards, as I made my way home through the quiet streets of London, the city twinkling with streetlights, I felt that deep sense of gratitude for the incredible day.

More London Wonders

Of course, London offers so much more than just shopping and ballet. I managed to squeeze in some iconic London sights, just a peek of them this trip:

  • The Tower Bridge: A majestic sight to behold. I snapped some stunning photos (my new camera’s incredible!).
  • Buckingham Palace: Seeing the changing of the guard ceremony was a real highlight. It’s all so fascinating and perfectly British!
  • The London Eye: As a tutu-wearing girl who likes to be up in the sky, this was a must! The panoramic view over London was absolutely awe-inspiring.

Every corner of London is an opportunity to discover something unique and delightful. It's a place where history whispers through the cobblestone streets, and fashion thrives on its every corner. It’s where your dreams feel a little bit bigger and your spirit a little more alive. I can't wait for my next trip back to London!

And now, lovelies, I need to sign off and get some much-needed rest! It’s been an exhilarating weekend! Do let me know in the comments below what your favourite things to do in London are. I’m always looking for new and exciting adventures!

Until next Friday, keep spreading the pink tutu love!

Love, Emma
