Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! π©°
Friday, 2006-08-04 (Post #518)
Hello darlings!
It's Friday and that means one thing⦠a brand new London blog post from yours truly, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina!
This week I took the train down to London, which is always such a lovely trip. I feel so lucky to be able to fund my London adventures with my ballet performances. It's truly the most wonderful way to combine my two passions - dancing and travel. I always pack my lucky tutu, it adds just the right touch of whimsical sparkle to any journey, wouldn't you agree?
My trip this week started at St Pancras station. It's just so grand, isn't it? The Victorian architecture, the stained-glass windows... it truly makes travelling feel like a romantic escape! I must confess, I took a rather lovely selfie in front of the iconic clock - how could I resist? π
Once I arrived at Kings Cross, I was off to Covent Garden. The energy of London, the street performers, the stalls bursting with colour... it was like stepping into a fairytale! There were so many beautiful things to look at, but I was determined to resist my shopaholic instincts (for now, anyway!).
Speaking of, it was impossible to ignore the vibrant stalls in Covent Garden bursting with gorgeous vintage clothes. I am a bit of a sucker for a statement piece, so I was immediately drawn to a stunning vintage fur coat that just screamed glamour! After much debate with my conscience (and a quick peek at my bank balance!), I decided to treat myself to this gorgeous piece. It's truly something special and will look absolutely divine with a pink tutu, don't you think? π
Of course, no trip to Covent Garden would be complete without a trip to the market itself! Fresh fruit and vegetables are just the thing after a long train journey, and the delicious smells wafting from the street food stalls had me swooning.
As much as I loved soaking up the atmosphere, I knew it was time to plan my next ballet escapade! My little pink tutu heart had been longing to catch a show at the Royal Opera House and luckily for me, tonight they were showing Swan Lake! π¦’β¨
I made my way to the grand theatre, feeling like I had just stepped into a dream. Everything about this building screams elegance and history. I must admit I did let out a tiny squeal of excitement when I saw the curtain rise and the first glimpse of the beautiful sets. I was spellbound from the moment the music began, and even after the curtain call I felt like I was in a trance! The grace of the ballerinas was simply breath-taking, the set design was exquisite, the music just magnificent... I honestly think I cried a little, but we won't talk about that π.
Swan Lake truly solidified why ballet will forever be my passion. It's the perfect blend of grace, emotion, and artistry, and the stories they tell are just captivating.
I finished the evening with a lovely supper in a charming little Italian restaurant near Covent Garden, reminiscing about the performance and dreaming about my next ballet adventure.
And of course, I can't forget the absolutely crucial part of every day: documenting it all for my dear readers! I snapped photos throughout the day, making sure to capture the essence of London: the colourful markets, the elegant architecture, the happy faces, and my little pink tutu (which naturally makes every photo just a tad bit more fabulous!) π
London is just brimming with life, colour, and joy. I truly felt invigorated by the experience. Every visit is a chance to explore, discover, and find something new to love about this vibrant city. I am so lucky to call it my favourite place to wander!
Next week, I'm heading back to Derbyshire for a performance, but rest assured I'll be back in London as soon as possible. I already have my eye on a vintage dress shop I want to visit and several more ballet performances on my list!
Until then, darlings! Keep those tutus twirling, and don't forget to dream big!
Lots of love and pirouettes,
