Pink Tutu Blog London - Post 590: Friday 2007-12-21 - London Calling!
Hello my lovely lot, it's your favourite tutu-wearing adventurer, Emma, back with another blog post straight from the heart of London!
The chilly Derbyshire air is no match for the excitement bubbling inside me. After a magical performance in Matlock last night (did I tell you about my brand new sparkling tiara?), I hopped on a train to London this morning. As the train sped along, I couldn't help but feel a rush of pink-tinted joy – the anticipation of a day spent exploring London, taking in some glorious theatre and, of course, hitting the shops for some festive cheer!
Tutu-rific Travels:Stepping off the train at King's Cross station was a whirlwind of sensations! The hustle and bustle, the glorious smells of street food, the sheer energy... It was all so exhilarating! Of course, I had my trusty pink travel tutu in tow, because even when I'm sightseeing, I need to bring a touch of whimsical fun wherever I go.
My first stop was Covent Garden, which always holds a special place in my heart. The market stalls were filled with twinkling Christmas decorations, colourful crafts, and of course, those glorious hot chestnuts I just can't resist. I even snagged a handmade pink beaded hairband – it matches my new sparkly tutu perfectly!
After my Covent Garden adventures, I hopped on the Tube for a quick jaunt down to the West End. Who else is feeling the festive magic of this season? The shops are adorned with shimmering lights and festive decorations, and the atmosphere is simply electric. It's no wonder the festive season is my absolute favourite time to be in London!
A Royal Treat:After all that exploring, my tummy was rumbling, so I popped into a charming little café tucked away on a quiet side street near Piccadilly Circus. With a hot cuppa and a scrumptious ham and cheese sandwich in my hands, I indulged in a little pre-theatre reading. Did you know that today, December 21st, is the shortest day of the year? It marks the winter solstice, a time of transition and hope for new beginnings! What a wonderful feeling!
Tonight's treat? I'm off to see a matinee performance of "The Nutcracker" at the Royal Opera House. This is my third time seeing this magical ballet, and I never fail to be swept away by the exquisite dancing, beautiful costumes and Tchaikovsky's soaring score. I might even be able to catch a glimpse of the Royal Family, who know a good performance when they see it! (Perhaps a tutu-clad photo op outside the Royal Opera House afterwards?)
A Tutu-licious Evening:The theatre experience is one of life's great joys, and it feels even more magical during the holiday season. But let's not forget, London is bursting with culture all year round!
After my ballet adventure, I'm planning on having a delicious dinner at one of my favourite London haunts – a small Italian restaurant nestled in Soho, with the most heavenly garlic bread you can imagine! Maybe after dinner, we'll have a quick stroll to catch the festive light display on Oxford Street or even take in a concert at the Barbican? The choices are endless in this wonderful city!
Pink Tutu London Style:Speaking of choices, have you seen the amazing festive collections in the shops lately? It's so inspiring, I have to share some of my favourite finds!
Liberty London: My go-to place for gorgeous fabrics and unique gifts. Their winter window displays are truly spectacular! And how divine is that beautiful silk scarf I just bought – it'll look lovely paired with a chic black turtleneck!
The Body Shop: Always my favourite spot for beautifully-scented stocking fillers. This year, I snagged a pink rose bath oil and a matching body lotion! It's sure to be the perfect treat for myself (and for that little ballerina who’s captured my heart!).
Burberry: What’s a London shopping adventure without a visit to Burberry? It was a real treat to indulge in their legendary festive window displays, adorned with enchanting lights and snow-kissed landscapes.
Fortnum & Mason: I can't go to London without a peek at Fortnum & Mason's stunning Christmas windows. The whole place is brimming with festive cheer, with decorations to delight even the most jaded heart.
Of course, every outing in London requires a well-planned outfit! Tonight, I'm rocking a beautiful midnight blue velvet tutu paired with a sparkling sequined top. A black velvet cape draped over my shoulders will add a touch of drama and keep me warm. It's time to turn heads and spread some pink tutu magic across the city!
Pink Tutu Power:As always, I hope this blog post inspires you to embrace your own inner whimsy and wear your tutus loud and proud, whether you're on the London Underground or walking down your local high street.
Remember, the power of pink tutus is limitless. It's about spreading joy, celebrating individuality, and reminding the world that a little sparkle and a touch of magic can transform even the most ordinary day!
Stay tuned for next week's blog, where I'll be sharing all about my London Christmas adventures, from the magical markets to my favourite Christmas shopping spots!
Until next time, my lovelies, and don't forget to keep those tutus twirling!
Love, Emma xx
