Pink Tutu Blog London: Friday 2008-08-01 - Whirlwind in the Capital!

Post number 622

Hello darlings! It's Friday, which means it's time for your weekly dose of pink tutu adventures! This week, I'm taking you with me on a whirlwind trip to London. Yes, that's right, I'm ditching the Derbyshire countryside for the bright lights and bustling streets of the big city!

It all started, as usual, with a trip on the train. Oh, I do love the train! I got to put on my favourite pink tutu, with a sparkly little cardigan over the top. I had the entire compartment to myself – no sticky fingerprints on my tutu today, thank heavens! – so I could spend the whole journey perfecting my "Pink Tutu Train Face." (You know, that combination of effortless elegance and excited-to-be-travelling look).

London always seems to pull me in. This time, it’s to catch a ballet matinee – the one and only "Swan Lake" at the Royal Opera House. How divine? Imagine, pirouette and grand jetés, swans and the whole magical affair! But I was not going to arrive at the theatre in anything less than my most spectacular pink tutu – after all, one simply must dress for the occasion!

As my train pulled into the station, I could practically feel the buzz of London vibrating in the air. Excitement bubbling, I found my way to the heart of Covent Garden – a true fashion haven! It's a shopper’s paradise with its cobbled streets, independent boutiques, and that signature London blend of chic and eccentricity. A quick pop into the Covent Garden Market was in order to find some delightful flower-print accessories to compliment my already-fabulous look. A bit of pink tulle peeking out from under my shopping bag never hurts, either!

Of course, I wasn't going to be the only one embracing the power of pink in London! As I strolled past the flower vendors, a street performer dressed in a shimmering pink sequined dress caught my eye. She was shimmying and shaking, entertaining the crowd with some jazzy, fun dance moves – oh, the creativity! She just needed a little pink tutu, and she'd have been the epitome of pink tutu perfection!

My feet couldn't resist the temptation, and soon I found myself browsing in one of the vintage clothing shops. The shelves were stacked with treasures – glamorous dresses, quirky hats, and oh, a treasure trove of sparkly accessories! I couldn't resist a little vintage flair. You know me! A shimmering scarf that reminded me of the aurora borealis (which I believe deserves a touch of pink), and a playful straw hat – I'm envisioning a fun-loving look that embodies London's spirit, yet still screams, “pink tutu!”

Speaking of London's spirit, I had to find the ultimate pink tutu spot. And where better than the famous Buckingham Palace! Can you picture it, darling? Me, standing before the iconic red palace doors, a majestic figure in a shimmering pink tutu, radiating pure joy. I knew I needed a photoshoot! A photo of me in my pink tutu, framed by the stunning palace, captured for eternity, will become a highlight in my life story. This picture will make my grandma's eyes light up!

Now, if you know me, you know a pink tutu and afternoon tea go hand-in-hand. After all, who can resist the elegance of a dainty, delicate tea service, complete with tiny sandwiches, delicate cakes and perfectly poured tea, with the background noise of a symphony orchestra playing in the next room? I can’t think of anything better than sipping on Earl Grey (or a sparkling pink lemonade, perhaps), whilst admiring the delicate ballet of teacups and cakes dancing on a platter. I might even let out a few fouettés at the table for extra flair!

Later, with the "Swan Lake" matinee on the horizon, it was time to polish my tutu. And you know what? It needs a little more sparkle. So, a trip to a delightful shop filled with glittering sequins was in order! A touch of shimmer here, a splash of glitz there… my tutu needed to be extra for the ultimate Royal Ballet experience! You know I love my tulle – a generous swathe of perfectly pink, flowing, luxurious tulle, a statement all by itself! It truly sets the stage for any kind of adventure!

The ballet performance itself? Breathtaking! Swan Lake never disappoints – every twirl, every leap, every graceful movement brought a tear to my eye. I watched as the story unfolded on stage, losing myself in the drama, the passion, the exquisite artistry, feeling inspired. It was simply enchanting, like a dream come true! It reminded me of how ballet has always been my passion – an enchanting form of dance with a strong connection to tradition and elegance. It truly made me want to twirl right out of the theatre into a joyful pink tutu pirouette!

And then came the grand finale. With a final curtsy, a burst of applause, and a shower of flowers for the performers, I emerged back onto London’s bustling streets, carrying that wonderful feeling of enchantment and inspiration within my heart.

Now, no trip to London is complete without a dash of Broadway magic! I dashed across the street to catch the final act of "Les Misérables" at the Queen's Theatre. Such an emotional performance, with soaring voices and gripping storytelling, It gave me chills! The sheer force of passion from the singers was electrifying! And, of course, what's a theatrical performance without a splash of pink?

You know I couldn't help but do some window-shopping, catching a glimpse of the bright lights, bustling streets, and, of course, the glorious London fashion scene. And wouldn't you know it? A beautifully designed, sparkly pink tutu was adorning a mannequins' window - almost as if the shop was inviting me in. (But darling, I am an expert in picking out my perfect pink tutu!) A delicate dance of pink sequins was my vision today - and of course, the more sparkles the better. Let's face it, the London lights always sparkle and shine!

The rest of the evening was a whirlwind of exciting events - from the magical lights of London Bridge at twilight, to a bite of the best fish and chips I've ever tasted in the historic heart of the city, followed by a charming street performer, playing the most heart-warming tune on his violin, right next to me as I sat sipping on a cappuccino (extra whipped cream, of course). I even bought a souvenir at a cute, vintage market, something that’s going straight to my memory box. And oh, you should have seen the incredible flower shop bursting with colorful roses, hydrangeas, and all sorts of other blooming wonders - I could have stood there and admired them for hours! They looked beautiful. But remember, the only real flower worth admiring is my beloved pink tutu!

And there you have it, darlings! My pink tutu adventures in the wonderful, vibrant city of London. It’s not just about the sights, or the shopping, or the enchanting performances. It’s about embracing that joyful, fun-loving spirit that London evokes.

Don't forget, darlings! My mission in life is to get everyone to wear a pink tutu. It's the perfect expression of joy, individuality, and sheer whimsicality! So, go out there and embrace your inner ballerina. You might just be surprised at the power a pink tutu can bring!

Until next time, happy twirling!

XOXO,

Emma
