Pink Tutu Blog London: Friday 2008-12-05 - A London Ballet Dream!

Post Number 640: Let's Dance!

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and it's Friday again! Which means it's time for another edition of Pink Tutu Blog London, the one and only blog that combines fashion, ballet, and London in a perfectly pink swirl!

Today, Iā€™m bursting with excitement ā€“ Iā€™m actually in London, the capital of all things chic! I arrived by train this morning, from my little Derbyshire nest, the journey was oh so lovely! Trains always offer a delightful mix of fashion observation (that ladyā€™s red hat!), and catching up on my favorite ballet books. Yes, it's true - a true ballerina always has her dance books by her side! I always pack my trusty copy of 'The Art of Classical Dance', it never fails to inspire!

Now, for you fashionistas, I canā€™t just leave you hanging about the train journey, can I? My outfit, of course, had to be quintessentially "Emma" - my pinkest, prettiest tutu! (Itā€™s the one with the sequins, naturally.) I paired it with my cherry red fitted coat - an absolute must for keeping out the chill ā€“ and, oh, some very fabulous knee-high black boots that added a touch of sophistication, donā€™t you think? To finish the look, a tiny pink fascinator, because a ballerina is never without a bit of sparkle, even when sheā€™s on the train!

So, Iā€™m now perched in my favourite hotel, a charming boutique gem in Kensington, with a cup of English Breakfast tea (the perfect morning pick-me-up, darling!) and a gorgeous pastry. The sound of London bustling outside is so delightful. I can practically feel the excitement in the air! Today is all about ballet! I am seeing the Royal Ballet perform "Giselle" this evening - a true classic - and the thrill of the Royal Opera House is simply divine. Oh, to dance in such an iconic settingā€¦ Iā€™ll be sure to report back with my thoughts on the performance later!

Speaking of ballet, did you know that Londonā€™s theatre district is just overflowing with ballets, dancers, and shows? Every corner offers an explosion of colour and creativity. Itā€™s a ballet loverā€™s paradise!

After ā€œGiselle,ā€ weā€™re hitting a few fabulous London spots. Thereā€™s a charming vintage tea shop with an atmosphere so perfectly English that it's practically begging for a tea-and-tutus photo-shoot. Then, there's a swanky fashion boutique on Bond Street. Youā€™ll see all the photos on Pink Tutu Blog next week, of course!

Letā€™s talk about London fashion for a second - I think the London style is incredibly feminine, elegant and daring. I can't resist the call of these amazing shops! Oh, and you know what? My aim in life is to get everyone to wear a pink tutu - and London, I'm not so sure about the ā€œpink tutuā€ look just yet... But I think thereā€™s some hope! Especially in the vintage clothing shops, which are absolutely bursting with exquisite pieces and quirky accessories that can turn a tutu into something fabulous!

This trip to London is pure magic! I canā€™t wait to show you what weā€™ll find and, of course, Iā€™ll share all my ballet experiences and fabulous outfits with you right here on my blog!

Now, before I rush out to see the London delights in full bloom, I wanted to mention a few of the incredible shows that are taking place in London this month. Itā€™s the most wonderful time to be a balletomane!

First up: The Royal Opera House is presenting *"The Nutcracker," * an enchanting story of Christmas magic, and they always put on a fabulous show, so make sure to add that one to your list! Itā€™s running until January 4th, so you have time to snag a ticket!

"Swan Lake" is a classic for a reason, and the English National Ballet is doing a fantastic rendition of this iconic tale of love and betrayal, which you can catch at the Sadlerā€™s Wells Theatre until December 23rd.

And if youā€™re after a bit more of a modern edge, the Rambert Dance Company is offering a programme of innovative choreography, including works by some of todayā€™s leading ballet creators.

So many amazing shows, such little time! But a real ballerina always makes time for ballet. Especially when London is waiting!

London, you are amazing! Stay tuned for more fun adventures, fashion updates, and all sorts of loveliness right here on Pink Tutu Blog London next week!
