#PinkTutuBlogLondon: Friday Fun in the Big Smoke!

Hello my gorgeous girlies! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing travel blogger back with another week of London adventures! I've just arrived in the big smoke - it's Friday the 25th of September and the air is buzzing with excitement, just like my tutu-covered heart! 😉

This week's trip has been made possible by none other than my ballet performance last night at the Derbyshire Arts Centre! My "Swan Lake" performance was a resounding success (you could almost hear the tutu swish from the back of the hall!) and it's allowed me to hop on the train to London with just enough dosh to cover some much-needed retail therapy and some fabulously extravagant, pink-tastic outings! I can't wait to show you what I get up to.

First things first - a big shout out to all the lovely railway staff for being so helpful in getting my tutu-shaped luggage onto the train! They seemed to love the pink! Always a bonus when you get some free smiles from the people around you, eh? I know some folks find my choice of attire unusual, but let's face it - there's nothing more fun than a pop of pink and a swirl of tulle, am I right? I reckon a pink tutu can turn any dull train carriage into a stage, and who doesn't love a bit of theatrical flair? 💖

Speaking of flair, my first stop in London is none other than Covent Garden. Just a short jaunt on the Tube, which always feels so magical after coming from Derbyshire. I've gotta tell you, walking past all those stunning theatre doors and knowing there's an amazing performance going on somewhere, I just feel a little giddy!

Today I'm excited to be seeing a new production of The Phantom of the Opera. My lovely auntie booked us tickets ages ago and I simply couldn't resist dressing up for the occasion! I've got a new, floor-length, shimmering pink tutu specially chosen to complement the Phantom's mystical vibe. It's an absolute masterpiece! I just can't wait to see it under the Covent Garden lights. 🎭

Of course, no trip to Covent Garden would be complete without a browse through its markets. I can't help but stop and marvel at the variety of flowers - it’s a total dream for someone with my eye for colour. I did my best to snag some lovely pink peonies (they’ll look divine on my dressing table, just like in my flat back in Derbyshire), and my Auntie snagged me some fresh-baked scones – those just call my name, don’t you know?

Once we've finished up with the sights and smells of Covent Garden, it’s onto a lovely afternoon tea at The Ritz. Can you believe my luck? I won the prize for “Best Swan Lake Performance” from my ballet school and that's how I bagged a lovely afternoon tea for myself and my dear Auntie! I can't wait to feel fancy in the gorgeous ballroom at The Ritz – I think a big, frilly pink bow in my hair is definitely in order! 👑

Evening is the real highlight though – The Phantom of the Opera! Honestly, the music alone is worth the price of the ticket. And then, to see those amazing sets, the costumes, the special effects – it's a whole new world. The story just draws you in, especially those powerful vocals. Of course, the best bit is when Christine’s true love realizes she’s in danger. It’s such a dramatic and powerful moment. It reminds me of some of the more challenging roles I’ve played in my performances. You know the ones, where you have to convey all these big emotions through just your facial expressions and movements, because sometimes it’s not all about the big pirouette. 💖

So, that’s my whirlwind day in London. I've enjoyed a gorgeous day at the heart of all things artsy and fashionable - a true pink tutu-tastic day.

Now I need to take a rest before tomorrow’s adventure! It wouldn’t be a Friday trip to London without a little ballet class! It’s not going to be as prestigious as Covent Garden or the Royal Ballet, but you gotta practice to get those fancy pirouettes down, you know what I mean? 😉 I think I might find a fun, family-friendly class that will be right up my street (pardon the pun). It’ll definitely be the perfect end to my day, I’ll make sure I post some pics tomorrow to Instagram – keep an eye out!

Now I have a question for all you lovely Pink Tutu girlies: If you could have a pink tutu for any special occasion, what would it be? Tell me all about it in the comments! 💖

Happy Friday everyone! And remember, wear your pink tutu with pride. 💖

XOXO

Emma
