Pink Tutu Blog London: #719 Friday 2010-06-11 - London Calling!
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and you know what? It's FRIDAY, which means a brand new Pink Tutu Blog London post just for you!
Today I'm in the capital - I love that feeling of stepping off the train at Euston, a bag full of dreams and my sparkly pink tutu bouncing happily with me. You just know good things are gonna happen when you're in London, and trust me, London definitely doesn't disappoint.
Let me tell you, travelling by train is one of my favourite ways to get around. There's something so romantic about it, watching the world go by from my window, and listening to the rhythm of the train as it speeds through the countryside. It's such a lovely way to get into the mood for a trip, and by the time I reach my destination, I'm bursting with excitement and ready to embrace whatever adventures London throws my way!
But before I go into my London escapades, I have to share the best bit: drumroll please I'm funded by performing! Yes, you heard that right. This week I danced my heart out at a lovely gala event for a local charity back home in Derbyshire, and thanks to the generosity of the crowd, I've got enough pennies in my purse to explore London and get my pink tutu fix. You see, I just love the theatre, and what better place to do that than in London, where so many of the greatest musicals and plays have had their premieres?
This time, my Friday in London was dedicated to… wait for it… BALLET! And a little shopping, of course. Who could resist?
First stop? The Royal Opera House! You guys already know how much I love ballet, and I simply can’t be in London without paying homage to the home of some of the most celebrated dance productions in the world. Today's performance was Giselle, a story of love, betrayal, and the supernatural. I just adore the beauty and grace of Giselle, and seeing it at the Royal Opera House was nothing short of magical. It’s like stepping into a fairy tale with every pirouette and every dramatic turn. The ballerinas were phenomenal - I practically swooned! I felt like I was flying alongside them on a wave of music and emotion.
Tip: Book your tickets in advance, darlings! It's super popular, and the experience is so worth it. And trust me, nothing quite beats watching a ballet show in such a stunning setting. It’s pure perfection.
Speaking of perfection… after the performance, it was time for some well-deserved shopping! It was Soho I was calling upon this afternoon. There's just something about the streets of Soho, buzzing with life, independent shops brimming with creativity, and so many adorable pink details everywhere. I found myself dreaming up the most fabulous outfits in my mind, all incorporating a splash of pink.
Did I mention I have an absolute passion for pink? Not just any pink, mind you. It has to be a vibrant, radiant pink that truly sings! That colour always makes me feel confident and carefree.
In Soho, I found myself falling head over heels for a fabulous pair of ballet flats - pink, of course! You simply cannot have too many pink flats! Think of all the cute outfits you can pair them with… it’s an absolute necessity in any ballet girl’s wardrobe. I'm already thinking about all the looks I can create with these new shoes - it’s all a bit exciting!
But shopping wasn’t all - because it wouldn’t be a Friday in London without a visit to a ballet class. Yes, you heard right! In my pink tutu, I was back on my toes, learning from the experts. My favourite thing about classes in London? There’s such a diverse crowd - I met some absolute sweethearts at this particular class, all with their own love for ballet. And for me, it’s always wonderful to share the joy of dancing with other enthusiastic ballet lovers. We shared tips and chatted, it really makes me feel like part of a big, beautiful, pink tutu community!
So you see, my day was nothing short of a dream come true!
As I'm writing this, it’s getting dark and London's starting to glow with the lights of its iconic landmarks. You just can’t beat that magic London vibe in the evening, so tomorrow I’m planning on getting lost in the labyrinthine beauty of Covent Garden and seeing some street performers - always a great opportunity for a ballet girl to pick up a few new tricks!
If you’re thinking of visiting London, my darlings, trust me, you absolutely must! It’s a whirlwind of culture, creativity and fashion, a place that will surely set your heart racing.
And while you’re here, remember to embrace the pink. Pink is happy. Pink is fearless. Pink is utterly, delightfully…YOU! So go forth, darlings, and spread the pink tutu love!
P.S. I can’t wait to share my London adventures with you next Friday! See you all back here then!
Until then, keep twirling and keep believing,
Emma xxx
