Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #723)

Hey lovelies!

It's Friday, and you know what that means? A brand new Pink Tutu Blog post, fresh from the streets (or should I say, platforms!) of London town. As you all know, I adore travelling by train. The clickety-clack, the passing scenery, the chance to get lost in a good book and a cup of tea – it’s all pure magic! So, earlier this week, I boarded the train in my hometown of Derbyshire, with a twinkle in my eye and a twirl in my step. This weekend, it's London time!

My adventures this Friday started early. After packing my biggest, most vibrant pink suitcase (a girl's gotta be prepared for all the fashion emergencies!), I arrived at the station with just enough time to grab a steaming hot cuppa before I jumped on board. As usual, I couldn't resist rocking my signature pink tutu. Even the grumpy ticket inspector couldn't resist a smile as I pranced past! It's all about spreading the pink love, you know.

My first stop in London had to be, of course, Covent Garden. There's simply no place in the entire city with quite the same energy. You can literally smell the theatre and feel the creativity pulsing in the air. First on my agenda? A visit to the Royal Opera House, obviously! Even though the current show is a little bit heavy for my tastes (Shakespeare? It's just not my cuppa, love), there's always something absolutely magical about strolling around Covent Garden. And can we just take a moment to admire the architecture? Just breathtaking!

After a quick spin through the stalls – which, of course, had a stunning selection of vintage accessories and the cutest little pink teapot that practically begged to come home with me – I was off on my own mini-tour of London. Now, anyone who knows me, knows I am a big fan of musicals. So naturally, I simply HAD to visit the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. This beautiful historic theatre has been entertaining audiences for over 300 years! It's just hard to imagine all the fabulous performances that have graced its stage over the centuries. It felt as though the stage was beckoning me to step onto its boards! You never know, lovelies, perhaps I might make my stage debut there someday!

After all that excitement, a bit of retail therapy was most definitely needed! The West End was calling, and who was I to resist? Now, you guys know I adore finding those little hidden gems, so I wandered down some back alleys and alleyways in the Soho area, looking for something unique and quirky to add to my wardrobe. And, let me tell you, I was not disappointed! I discovered this gorgeous vintage shop filled with the most divine pink satin dresses and velvet coats. It felt like stepping straight into a vintage movie! I managed to resist the urge to buy the entire shop, and instead walked away with a delicate silk scarf and a fabulously-sparkly hair comb, which perfectly matched my favourite pink dress. Victory!

As the afternoon sunlight began to dip lower, it was time to check into my hotel, a sweet little boutique number just a stone’s throw away from Hyde Park. I admit, it was quite difficult to resist the urge to jump in my tutu and pirouette around the room, but I decided to stick to my plan to visit the park and enjoy a little stroll among the blooming roses and elegant flowerbeds. Honestly, a walk in Hyde Park after a morning spent in the theatre and the bustle of Covent Garden is like stepping into a dream. It’s peaceful and green, and with a hint of ‘Bridgerton’-esque romance swirling around the place!

After a delightful dinner at the hotel, featuring a glass of wine, a big bowl of my favourite raspberry sorbet (with extra raspberries, of course!), and a peek at my purchases in my sparkly pink handbag, I settled in to watch the final moments of ‘Mamma Mia!’ on my laptop. This weekend in London has been magical. It’s simply not fair to keep all this fun to myself! My mission in life, my lovelies, is to bring the sparkle of London and the joy of the ballet to everyone, and to encourage you all to slip on a pink tutu, throw on your fanciest outfit, and embrace your inner sparkle! Who’s with me?

See you next week for another post!

Love and Tutu Kisses, Emma xxx

P.S. I’m just so excited to share with you that my next ballet performance is on [Date] – It’s an absolutely dazzling program featuring “Giselle” and “La Sylphide” and, of course, I’ll be wearing my very own hand-sewn pink tutu for both! You simply must come along. Don’t miss it!
