Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #725)
Hello my darling tutu lovers!
It's Friday again, which means it's time for another installment of my Pink Tutu Blog! This week, I'm taking you with me on a whirlwind tour of London town, because darling, I'm officially a Londoner for the weekend!
It all started with a very special train journey from my quaint home in Derbyshire. Now, I've told you all before that I have a real love affair with trains, and this journey was no exception. There's something about the rhythm of the tracks, the passing scenery, and the feeling of being on a journey that just fills me with a giddy excitement.
Speaking of giddy excitement, have you ever boarded a train wearing a pink tutu? The looks I received were priceless, with some even stopping to compliment me on my choice of attire!
I'm all for spreading the love of pink tutus, and I believe that you just never know who you'll inspire to join the Pink Tutu Movement. This train journey alone may have created three new converts. And the beauty of it? It's contagious. Let's be honest, who doesn't feel a bit more fabulous twirling in a pink tutu?
So, arriving in London, I knew this wouldn't be your average weekend. It was jam-packed with adventures in the world of fashion, ballet, and all things London-y!
The Day Begins at the Royal Opera House
For a dancer like me, there's nothing more exhilarating than the thought of attending a ballet performance at the Royal Opera House. It's like stepping into a different world, one where elegance and grace are the only rules. This particular Friday, the bill featured Giselle by the Royal Ballet, a masterpiece of romantic ballet.
Every pirouette, every grand jeté was an explosion of artistry, and I was absolutely mesmerized. This show truly brought me back to the joy of the simple, elegant beauty of dance. I was enchanted, mesmerized, and I left the theatre feeling inspired and wanting to twirl in my own pink tutu under the chandeliers of my bedroom!
Afternoon Tea & Shopping Adventures
Of course, a visit to London wouldn't be complete without a spot of afternoon tea. But not just any afternoon tea! I opted for a place that had a very specific attraction to it – the Dorchester Hotel, one of the city's grandest hotels.
Sitting in their opulent lobby, surrounded by the decadent smells of freshly brewed tea and baked pastries, felt incredibly chic. As I sipped on my Earl Grey tea, a flute of pink champagne appeared alongside a plate of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and an array of dainty pastries, each perfectly pink. It was a real treat for the senses.
Then came the moment we’d all been waiting for: Shopping! The heart of London is filled with the most exciting shops in the world, but my first stop had to be on Oxford Street, one of the biggest shopping streets in Europe. There, I stumbled upon a shop called 'House of Holland,' a London based label that's quickly become one of my favourite fashion finds!
Let’s just say, there’s nothing quite like spotting a fabulous outfit, trying it on, and knowing that you’re looking good! The entire shop seemed to be bursting with fun, colourful prints and statement pieces, and my eyes were absolutely feasting. It took all my willpower to leave with only a gorgeous coral maxi dress, with ruffled sleeves and a hint of tulle, perfectly suited for my tutu-loving personality. It screamed elegance and romance, and just a hint of whimsy!
A London Ballet Ballet Blitz
With a renewed love for fashion and feeling even more energized from afternoon tea, I continued my exploration of London with a dose of something I never tire of: ballet! However, this wasn't just any ordinary class.
You know I love street performance and London’s Covent Garden area offers the most amazing collection of buskers in the city. This particular day was bustling with talent and in the centre of it all was a little pop-up ballet studio right outside the Royal Opera House.
Now, my darlings, the energy was contagious! Everyone was smiling, laughing and just excited about dancing! There was something wonderfully joyous about seeing this impromptu dance lesson happen, right in the heart of London!
The choreographer was teaching moves from the ballet "Swan Lake" and everyone, from toddlers to seasoned dancers, was having a ball. I couldn’t resist joining in. It’s not every day you can dance amongst a bustling Covent Garden, and there I was, with my pink tutu swaying gracefully. I felt more alive than ever!
Pink Tutu London: Where Elegance Meets Fun
As the day wound down, I strolled through the famous Notting Hill, with its beautiful Georgian townhouses and eclectic shops. There’s a quaint charm that lingers there. And guess what, darlings? The day wouldn't be complete without another tutu-related activity!
I found this hidden little shop selling vintage ballerina tutus and, of course, my feet walked straight inside. The shop itself was tiny but crammed with a collection of sparkling, feathery and fluffy tutus from the 1960s and 70s. A tutu lover's paradise!
It was the most colourful explosion of beautiful tulle I had ever seen. There were pink tutus in all shades, yellow, emerald, silver. It was so magical that it reminded me why I started this Pink Tutu Blog, to inspire and uplift people with the simple joy of twirling and colour! I walked away with a fluffy vintage tutu in blush pink – a true vintage treasure that had found its way into my collection!
The final touch? Dinner in a charming little Italian restaurant just off Piccadilly. I sat by the window, watching the hustle and bustle of London, and it really sunk in: This was my London experience, an amalgamation of art, fashion, dance, and fun, all wrapped in the sweetness of my pink tutu.
So, dear tutu lovers, I hope this glimpse into my London adventures has inspired you to embrace your inner pink tutu self. We are all, in our own way, dancing through life and spreading joy wherever we go.
Until next Friday, stay beautiful, and remember: Always wear your pink tutu with pride!
