#PinkTutuBlogLondon: Friday, 2011-05-27 – Whirlwind of London Magic!
Dearest tutu-loving readers,
It's Friday again, which means it's time for a new #PinkTutuBlogLondon! This week I've been living the dream, making my way to London town by train, of course! The clatter of the wheels, the rhythmic sway of the carriage, the glimpses of the English countryside... pure magic, really.
And as the station announced our arrival in the big smoke, a thrilling surge of excitement went through me. It's the feeling of anticipation that only a London trip can bring, knowing there are stories to be told, sights to be seen, and fashion to be devoured. I wouldn't have it any other way!
A Day of Ballet Brilliance!
My first stop? The Royal Opera House! A trip to London isn't complete without a visit to this majestic venue. Tonight, they were showcasing the magical 'Giselle', and my dear friends, you simply HAVE to see it if you get the chance! The ethereal costumes, the powerful story, and the flawless dancing of the ballerinas... pure inspiration, truly!
I felt like a princess in my pink tutu and my new polka dot dress, watching these amazing dancers twirl and leap across the stage. Speaking of which... shopping was a MUST! London always beckons with its fashion boutiques, and I found myself at a lovely shop near the theatre with the most beautiful collection of tutus you can imagine. Now, I'm not saying I indulged, but let's just say there might be a few new additions to my pink-tutu wardrobe… 😉
Exploring the Streets of Fashion!
Afterwards, I strolled through the charming streets of Covent Garden, relishing the lively atmosphere, the street performers, and the dazzling array of colours everywhere. This city has a way of inspiring your imagination. Just a few minutes later I found myself among the world's most fashionable people at the V&A museum. Fashion's inspiration has no limits, and exploring London's many exhibitions and museum is truly a gift to a dancer's soul. I love learning about fashion's past, and how it can be translated into our everyday wardrobe.
After my fashion pilgrimage, I headed towards one of my favourite places to indulge in afternoon tea: the charming tearoom just behind Buckingham Palace. Oh, the delights of cucumber sandwiches, clotted cream, and perfectly brewed Earl Grey tea! The delicate floral wallpaper and the tinkling piano music created a beautiful ambience.
The day was winding down, but not without a visit to one of the London’s legendary theaters. As I saw the stage light up, it reminded me that every stage has a magic all its own, waiting to unfold for the next dancer. Today’s theater experience showcased some amazing talents and gave me another chance to observe dancers’ skill in another art form.
From a Dance Studio in Derbyshire to London's Glittering Streets
This is the life I love! You know, as a ballerina living in Derbyshire, the quiet countryside and green hills are great for contemplation and creative focus, but every now and then, I need to experience the magic of a place like London! My life is a delicate balancing act, blending dance classes, ballet performances, and this lovely blog with exploring new cities. And you know what? I wouldn't trade it for the world. I am so incredibly grateful for each performance that brings me closer to my goal of seeing everyone in a pink tutu one day!
Oh, and I almost forgot! If you haven't already, you HAVE to check out the exhibition 'Dancing on the Edge' at the Hayward Gallery! It's a collection of dance performances pushing the boundaries of art and expression. The dancers there were phenomenal, each bringing something uniquely special to the stage! You really must see it if you get the chance!
#PinkTutuBlogLondon Tip of the Week!
As a bonus, this week I’m sharing a little secret that has made a world of difference in my traveling experience. Plan your travel days strategically!
Remember, Fridays are the busiest days for trains and airports, so a little bit of planning can save you time and energy! I've learned to plan my journeys for less-crowded times so I can avoid long queues and settle into my own little corner of calm on the train. The calm and quiet space for my introspective thoughts makes the travel itself a delightful part of the whole adventure!
Until next week, dear readers! Don't forget to head over to www.pink-tutu.com and check out my blog posts! Let me know what you think. And remember: the world's a stage, so dance your way to joy!
Happy twirling,
Emma
(PS. Keep an eye out for my upcoming dance performance at the 'Tutus and Twirls' festival next month!)
