Pink Tutu Blog London #771: A Whirlwind Friday in the Capital

Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad adventurer, Emma, back with another delightful installment from my Pink Tutu Blog London! Today, Friday 10th June 2011, finds me absolutely buzzing after a whirlwind day in the big city. The train journey from Derbyshire was, as always, a joy - the rhythmic clickety-clack of the wheels, the stunning views of the English countryside, and the occasional peek at fellow travellers with an enviable style (did I spot a matching pink hat and handbag? You know I love those!) set the stage for a fabulous day in London.

Pink Perfection in the City

As soon as I stepped onto the platform at King's Cross, I felt a thrill of excitement. It's just so invigorating to be amongst the hustle and bustle of London! And I felt particularly fabulous today - my outfit, as ever, included a vibrant pink tutu, which just screamed 'look at me!'. I topped it off with a matching feather boa and a cute little pink fascinator. It's important to let your inner ballerina shine, don't you think?

My first stop was Covent Garden - oh, what a delightful haven of beautiful things! The street performers were amazing - juggling, acrobatics, a captivating street band, and even a man dressed as a giant butterfly (very fitting!). I stopped for a delicious cup of tea at one of the many charming cafés and just enjoyed soaking up the vibrant atmosphere.

The Enchanted World of Theatre

Next on the agenda was a trip to the Dominion Theatre for a performance of "Wicked." It's always such a thrill to watch live theatre! And what can I say about Wicked? The music, the costumes, the whole spectacle! Pure magic! There was an incredible scene with the Wicked Witch of the West in all her green, sparkly glory - my friend Mary pointed out to me that she actually had the exact same shade of green as my favourite pair of emerald slippers, a happy coincidence!

After the show, my friend Mary and I took a wander through the bustling streets around the theatre, catching up on all things girly. We discovered a lovely independent shop filled with beautiful handcrafted jewellery, where I just had to pick up a stunning pink-toned bracelet adorned with little pearls. You see, I can't help myself, I adore any and every opportunity to incorporate pink into my outfits.

London: A Fashion Wonderland

And speaking of shopping, it's a no-brainer that London is a fashion haven! Of course, no trip to the city is complete without a visit to the iconic Harrods. This grand emporium never ceases to amaze me, it's like a fairytale palace of exquisite fashion and beauty! It was all too tempting to get carried away - I had to resist purchasing the most divine vintage couture dress with sparkling embroidery (perhaps next time!) but I couldn't resist a few charming pink accessories: a glittery phone case and a sweet, little beaded charm with a ballerina figurine attached.

Mary and I even took a stroll through Liberty, another of London's most renowned fashion hotspots, just because - oh, it's so hard to resist all those beautiful textures and designs! But in the end, we opted for a relaxing afternoon tea at a cozy café overlooking the Thames, where I devoured a delightful plate of scones and finger sandwiches (with cucumber and cream cheese - yum!) whilst taking in the views and sharing endless gossip about all the beautiful things we'd seen that day.

Ending on a High Note

As evening approached, we found ourselves drawn back to Covent Garden, for a showstopping performance at the Royal Opera House! We enjoyed a delightful performance of "Swan Lake", which, I have to admit, truly resonated with my ballet-loving soul. It's so beautiful watching graceful dancers tell a story without even saying a word - their every gesture, their every move is an expression of art and emotions.

After the performance, Mary and I shared a late-night drink at a nearby bar. It was a magical end to a magical day! I walked back to the station with a contented smile, brimming with the energy and inspiration of a city bursting with creativity, elegance and style. It was yet another perfect day in London!

My Favourite London Moment: A Pink Tutu Surprise!

One of the things that made my day extra special, wasn't a fabulous show, nor a stylish outfit, or even a particularly delightful afternoon tea... It was a lovely, random encounter that took me by surprise!

While exploring the streets of London, I stumbled across a lovely family, sitting by a fountain. The mother was wearing a charming outfit, a dress with a cute, flowing skirt - and what do you know? It looked very much like a tutu! But wait, there's more! Her adorable little girl was wearing a pink tutu! And she was absolutely delighted with her dancing - twirling around with such pure joy and a twinkle in her eyes.

It reminded me so much of the little girl I was once! So, with a beaming smile and my heart melting, I stopped to tell the little one what a brilliant dancer she was. She gave me the sweetest smile back, and her mom giggled and thanked me. That moment was everything: spontaneous, joyful, heartwarming, and - best of all - it included pink tutus!

Pink Tutu Reflections: Spreading the Love

My mission in life, dear friends, is to get everyone in the world wearing a pink tutu! After all, why should we let fashion be serious or boring? A pink tutu can bring so much joy, freedom, and playful spirit! Just like the little ballerina in Covent Garden - let your inner twirling joy take over!

So, until next week, darling friends, remember to wear your tutus with pride and dance through life with a heart full of colour, happiness, and endless joy!

Until then,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
