Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! #785

Friday, 16th September, 2011

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and you know what day it is? Yes, it's Friday! The day where we all gather on www.pink-tutu.com to explore the wonderful world of pink, tutus, and fabulous adventures. And today's adventure, you ask? Well, my darlings, we're heading to the big smoke! London, here we come!

I'm boarding the train in a couple of hours. I'm practically bursting with excitement. There's just something so thrilling about that whizzing feeling of arriving in London, with all its possibilities waiting for you. Oh, and did I mention I'm wearing a brand new, candy floss pink tutu for the journey? Of course, I am!

London has always been my favourite city for a whirlwind weekend of ballet, fashion, and fabulous fun. You know, I simply can't resist the call of a good ballet performance. Tonight's show at the Royal Opera House is 'Swan Lake,' my all-time favourite. The grace and drama, the soaring leaps, the tutus, the sheer artistry, just all of it - my heart goes pitter-patter like a little girl at her first ballet class!

And I can't wait to dive head-first into London's fabulous shops! The thought of rummaging through vintage boutiques and discovering designer delights is a little bit like a child in a sweetie shop. Speaking of sweeties, there are a million little independent cake shops, artisan chocolate stores, and those gorgeous old-school tea shops that make you feel like you've been transported back to a Jane Austen novel.

Now, let's talk outfits. For this London weekend, I've decided on a chic Parisian feel. A little black dress, my trusty knee-high boots, and a touch of vibrant pink through my accessory choices. Think statement earrings, a pink beret (always essential for a little Parisian flair!), and a pink handbag that sings 'Emma's in town!'

London always makes me feel so empowered. Walking through those iconic streets with my tutu billowing behind me, I feel like I'm a part of something larger than myself, part of a cultural, fashionable, magical journey.

Speaking of magic, you wouldn't believe the amount of interesting street performers I've encountered in London. From buskers serenading the streets with soulful melodies to talented acrobats defying gravity, there's a world of entertainment just waiting to be discovered.

Speaking of discovering, did you know that this Friday marks the start of the 'London Restaurant Festival'? Now, where there's good food, there's Emma. I've been doing my research and there are some tantalising options, from a taste of classic London pub food to gourmet delights hidden in charming little nooks. I'm hoping to find somewhere with a decent, but not too fussy, veggie menu. Maybe a comforting mac 'n' cheese or a colourful quinoa salad to balance out all that delicious, naughty chocolate I'm sure to be indulging in!

Remember my dear readers, you don't need a trip to London to feel this level of excitement. My adventures are all about finding that joy and that spark wherever you are. If you're sitting on a park bench in your favourite town, try doing a pirouette! Or maybe grab a picnic basket and have a ballet themed tea party in your garden. It's all about embracing the things that make you happy.

Oh, and did I mention there's a 'Ballet On The Bridge' performance at the Tower Bridge today? You see, it's going to be a truly magical weekend. It's amazing what you can discover when you get out there and explore, whether it's a bustling city like London or your own local community. I’m truly blessed to be living in this incredible world, full of beautiful places and amazing experiences!

Anyway, I have to get going! Catch you later in the week with more adventures from London.

Have a wonderful weekend, and remember, don’t forget to embrace the pink!

Your always-tutu-ing, Emma

Friday 16th September, 2011, What's On in London:

Here are a few events taking place this weekend that caught my eye!

  • Royal Opera House, 'Swan Lake': This breathtaking ballet is a must-see. It features world-renowned dancers, dazzling costumes, and an enchanting score. I'll be sitting front row, practically bouncing in my seat!

  • Tower Bridge 'Ballet on the Bridge': The beautiful Tower Bridge, a symbol of London, is set to host a series of ballet performances. This will be a truly magical experience, combining ballet with a stunning backdrop! Imagine the graceful moves against the backdrop of this iconic landmark.

  • London Restaurant Festival: The Festival brings London’s dining scene to life, showcasing the best of the city's diverse culinary talent. Enjoy a menu specially created for the Festival at selected restaurants! I plan on discovering some hidden culinary gems in those hidden alleyways and cobblestone corners.

  • St. Martin’s in the Fields - Lunchtime Concerts: London is bursting with talent and I love that we can find free performances just around the corner! You don't want to miss the 'Lunchtime Concerts' at this beautiful church. It’s a treat for the senses.

  • Westminster Abbey: The breathtaking architecture, its history, and of course, its position in the heart of London make this a must-visit destination. They're running 'Festival of Flowers' through to September 19th and you know what they say: 'The world is your stage'!

Emma's Pink Picks of the Week:

Let's talk outfits! This weekend, my go-to pieces for London exploration are all about embracing those charming Parisian vibes:

For the day: My Parisian chic look revolves around a stylish black midi dress and comfy knee-high boots. The boots are classic but the perfect finishing touch for a timeless and slightly dramatic outfit.

My statement piece for a day of exploration? A bright pink beret! It's a delightful dash of colour and instantly adds a Parisian chic flair to my ensemble.

Evening time? My trusty little black dress gets a new twist with some elegant jewellery, statement earrings, and of course, a pink handbag to add that 'Emma' signature touch!

What’s on your to-do list this weekend, dear readers? Let's hear your adventures and pink picks for the week! And don't forget to send me a snap if you’re feeling pink, too!
