Pink Tutu Blog London: #826 - London Calling!

Friday, 29th June 2012

Good morning, lovelies! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and… wait for it… I'm in London! Yep, the Pink Tutu Blogger herself is ready to take on the capital, all in my trusty pink tutu, of course. 😉

It’s funny how travelling by train always makes me feel like a little girl on an adventure. The journey up from Derbyshire was such a joy – gazing out the window, imagining all the stories those rolling hills and quaint villages could tell. And let’s be honest, it doesn’t hurt that I got to wear my new bright pink flowery scarf and polka dot top – a little bit of girly glamour to match my vibrant pink tutu! I just love being surrounded by pink and feeling like a princess on the go.

Oh, speaking of glamour – did you know there’s a real live, bona fide princess performing in a ballet show in the West End tonight? Talk about magical! I just had to see "Giselle" with the beautiful, elegant Natalie Portman. It’s the perfect way to kick off my London adventure, wouldn’t you agree?

Morning Bliss – London Fashionistas Unite!

So, before I head to the theatre, I decided to wander through some of the iconic London markets – because you know me, I simply must pick up a new tutu or two. 🛍️ My mission was to find a fabulous pink tulle skirt that was both practical for dancing in, but also stylish enough to make heads turn – I think you'll agree I succeeded! I found the perfect one at the Portobello Road Market - just imagine a vintage floral print, layers of dreamy pink tulle and a touch of vintage charm, all for a steal! It’s my new go-to piece for twirling around London! 💃

And while we’re on the topic of twirling, how amazing is London? Everywhere I go, it’s buzzing with creativity and inspiration. I saw the coolest street performer doing an incredible ballet routine right in front of a cute little café in Covent Garden – the man’s flexibility and control were simply astonishing! I was totally mesmerized! And the crowds cheered with joy! Londoners truly appreciate art, whatever form it comes in, and that makes my heart sing. 💖

Speaking of Covent Garden, it’s just brimming with fashion. All the young, trendsetting types strut their stuff in their latest pieces and there were some seriously gorgeous dresses, shoes, and accessories on display – just a few minutes there and you can get a sense of London's pulse. This place really is a treasure trove of fashion inspiration for any ballerina (or anyone who loves pink, let’s be honest!).

Afternoon Delights – Tea, Twirls and a Touch of Royal History

It wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu Blog London post without a delightful afternoon tea experience. After my market splurge, I headed over to the Fortnum & Mason Tea Room, a real London institution. It was practically an art exhibition in itself – ornate furniture, gilded mirrors, and an atmosphere so perfectly elegant, you'd swear you were in a movie set! The scones, clotted cream, and tea were divine – a little slice of Victorian heaven! It made me feel so fancy and glamorous.

But what truly topped off my afternoon was taking a walk past the Buckingham Palace, home to the Queen herself. Seeing those imposing walls and gates made my mind wander about all the regal balls and ceremonies that must have taken place behind them. I even managed to spot a royal guard doing his rounds – what a sight! It’s no wonder London is a place that people come to see from all corners of the world. It truly has everything.

The Night Magic – Ballet, Sparkle, and Fairy Tales Come to Life

And now for the moment I’ve been waiting for – the ballet! It was such an incredible experience. Seeing Natalie Portman move with such grace and fluidity on stage – it was captivating! Every step she took seemed to embody the emotions of the piece perfectly. The music, the costumes, the atmosphere – it was sheer magic.

And let's not forget the spectacular dancing by the Royal Ballet. They were absolutely phenomenal, each movement perfectly synchronised with their partners. Their strength, precision, and elegance – it was just mesmerizing. I felt completely transported to a world of beauty and artistry – truly a perfect night out.

Walking out of the theatre, with London lights sparkling above, it hit me how lucky I am to be able to pursue my passions and explore such incredible places. I felt an overwhelming sense of joy and excitement for everything to come, and for the new experiences London will offer in the weeks to come.

As always, London’s magic seems to flow right into the Pink Tutu, giving it a little extra sparkle. It’s a reminder that anything is possible when you follow your dreams and embrace a little bit of whimsy. I know I’ll never lose that inner child, and that’s a feeling that shines brighter than all the diamonds in London. 💎

Until next Friday, darlings!
