#PinkTutuBlogLondon - Friday 2012-08-31: London Calling! 🩰

Hello darlings!

It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu aficionado, and I'm back with a brand new blog post. This week I'm in the dazzling metropolis of London, ready to unleash a storm of pink tulle! This is post number 835 on www.pink-tutu.com – I hope you're all sitting comfortably as I whisk you away on a journey of glitz, glamour, and, of course, tutus!

The Train Journey to London: A First-Class Ballet

This Friday morning started, as it so often does, with a train journey. I must say, I absolutely love taking the train, especially when it’s a jaunt to London. I get so much inspiration from the people watching, the passing scenery, and the air of excited anticipation that builds as you get closer to the capital.

This time, I was in my usual comfy ballet-inspired ensemble. My favourite pair of leggings – a beautiful floral pattern that’s a subtle reminder of the rose petals strewn across a stage – with a flowy, pink silk scarf draping across my shoulders, and of course, my trademark tutu. This particular one was a delicate, layered tulle in shades of lavender and lilac – perfect for channeling that dreamy, ethereal London vibe.

I settled into my window seat with my trusty copy of “Giselle”, one of my all-time favourite ballet books. As the scenery whizzed by, I lost myself in the timeless tale of love and betrayal. It felt so fitting to be engrossed in a world of ballerinas and fairies whilst actually on my way to London – a place that embodies elegance and fairy-tale charm.

London: A Day of Delights

Arriving in London’s Kings Cross station was an explosion of excitement. My ears were immediately captivated by the joyous din of bustling crowds and street performers, the air filled with the scent of freshly brewed coffee and pastries. I inhaled deeply, savouring the vibrant energy that thrummed through the city’s veins.

My plan for today was simple yet bursting with potential: see a fantastic ballet show at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, do some seriously sparkly shopping at Covent Garden, and perhaps indulge in a luxurious afternoon tea with a view of Big Ben. After all, a little indulgence never hurts, does it?

Dancing with the Stars: The Beauty of Sadler's Wells

The heart of my London adventure was, without a doubt, the evening’s performance at Sadler’s Wells Theatre. I’d snagged tickets for the “London Ballet Company” production of Swan Lake, and it was simply breathtaking.

As the orchestra filled the air with Tchaikovsky’s magical score, I felt my heart flutter with anticipation. The ballerinas – all beautifully costumed, their grace as ethereal as moonlight – wove a story of love, sacrifice, and enchantment on stage.

I’m no stranger to a ballet show, but I felt truly inspired by the dedication and artistry displayed on stage. The ballerinas, they possessed a unique beauty that emanated not just from their physical abilities but from their dedication, their passion, and their ability to bring a timeless story to life through movement. The story transported me to a magical world where dreams danced with reality, leaving me mesmerised.

Covent Garden: A Tutusful Treat

No London trip is complete without a trip to Covent Garden. This vibrant market square, filled with street performers and independent shops, is like a Parisian flea market, only with a distinctively British twist. And it’s always a visual feast!

I started my shopping spree at a lovely boutique called “The Enchanted Dress Shop”, which boasts the most adorable selection of tutus imaginable. I couldn't resist trying on a new fluffy, light-pink tulle one – it had all the perfect poufs and layers – just the thing for twirling under a moonlit sky! I even found the perfect sequined pink handbag to complete the look.

Next, I made a detour to Liberty's – a historic department store bursting with elegance and fashion. I spent ages browsing through the luxurious fabric and lace collections, finding myself transported into a world of couture gowns and whimsical fabrics.

An Afternoon Tea with a View: A Pink-Tinted Dream

Afternoon tea is a tradition I simply cannot resist, and in London, it’s a refined experience. This time, I treated myself to the most divine high tea at a tea room with a stunning view of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. I sat, surrounded by pink floral decor and delectable finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, and an array of miniature pastries. The ambiance was pure fairytale, with the sounds of Big Ben’s clock echoing through the air.

London’s Enduring Charm

As I left the bustling streets of London for the quiet solitude of the train journey home, I realised I hadn’t just had a whirlwind tour of a beautiful city; I had been transported to a magical world filled with art, fashion, and the inspiring energy of those who pursue their passions. It reminded me, yet again, of the boundless beauty and wonder that life has to offer. It made me want to embrace my dreams and keep spinning in my pink tutu.

So, my dear readers, if you're feeling adventurous, why not plan a trip to London? Let its history, its culture, its energy, and its charming little tea shops inspire you to reach for your own personal "Swan Lake". I promise you, London will not disappoint.

Until next week, may your lives be filled with pink tutus and delightful discoveries!

Lots of love,

Emma
