#PinkTutuBlogLondon - Friday 2013-06-14: A Tutu-tastic Day in London Town!

Hello, darlings! Welcome back to another edition of #PinkTutuBlogLondon, your weekly dose of tutus, twirls, and all things fabulous. Today’s post is a special one - a London adventure chronicled just for you, dear readers. And it wouldn't be a true #PinkTutuBlogLondon post without a story that starts with the sound of a whistle, a puff of steam, and a journey on the railway, wouldn't it?

So, here's the thing. This week, I was whisked away to London - oh, how I do adore this bustling metropolis! I boarded a train in Derby - my trusty steed, the train, taking me all the way to the capital. The rhythmic click-clacking of wheels against the track, the charming views, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee made the journey feel magical. My fellow passengers, some staring intensely at their smartphones, others enjoying the countryside views, seemed to appreciate the quiet charm of my pink tulle masterpiece that billowed just slightly in the breeze from the window. Don't judge - it's all part of my mission to get everyone wearing a pink tutu. 🩰

After a quick pit stop for a "proper cuppa", I arrived in London. My eyes widened at the familiar London panorama. The spires, the buses, the taxis, all bathed in the golden glow of the morning sun. London, my darling, you truly are a wonder! My heart already fluttering with anticipation, I grabbed my tote bag filled with all my pink-hued essentials and set off to discover what today's adventures held.

Now, my friends, it was time for my favourite kind of day: a day dedicated to the pursuit of ballet! First, a pit stop at my beloved dance store. I always get a thrill browsing for the latest dancewear trends – the sheer tulle, the sparkly fabric, oh, it’s truly intoxicating! You know me, darling, it’s practically a necessity to indulge in a new pair of pointe shoes from time to time, don’t you agree? This time I chose a pair with elegant blush pink satin ribbons. Absolutely perfect!

But it wasn’t all about shopping. The heart of my day was set on catching the breathtaking Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House. A night out at Covent Garden is always a delightful occasion! The majestic theatre, the hushed anticipation before the curtains rise, the thrumming energy that fills the auditorium… it’s all quite magical. This evening's ballet, a beautifully tragic interpretation of "Giselle", left me feeling deeply moved, a whirlwind of emotions. And, of course, my new shoes held their own perfectly, twirling gracefully on the cobblestones.

The next day, my friends and I headed to the stunning Sadler's Wells Theatre for another ballet delight. This time, we immersed ourselves in the raw power of the Ballet Boyz company – the energy, the talent, the pure athleticism of the dancers simply blew me away! My friends gasped in awe during the stunning contemporary piece. It was the perfect follow-up to the delicate and graceful classic of Giselle. It really made you appreciate the wide range of talent the ballet world holds!

But don't think for a minute that my weekend was solely dedicated to ballet. London, as you know, offers endless opportunities for an enchanting spree. This time, I found myself mesmerized by a magnificent exhibition showcasing the art of Frida Kahlo at the V&A. The colourful works were a stark contrast to the delicate ballet I had seen the night before, yet both resonated with the raw passion and emotions that moved me. It felt right, it felt fulfilling!

Now, my darlings, let’s not forget the fashion scene, another passion of mine! Of course, I had to pop into Harrods, a mecca of extravagance and exquisite things. Browsing through the rails, I felt like I'd stepped into a fairy tale. The glittering gowns, the luxurious accessories, and, of course, a few gorgeous tutus for my own collection. Honestly, you can never have too many tutus, right?

Another absolute necessity – exploring the independent boutiques lining the cobbled streets of Covent Garden. I couldn’t resist a playful pink handbag that screamed "Emma" at the top of its lungs. And oh, the adorable hats! I ended up with a magnificent straw hat with a ribbon tied in a perfect pink bow. A fitting reminder of this enchanting weekend, don't you think? 👒

However, I found myself truly captivated by a tiny shop selling vintage costume jewellery. My heart leaped at the sight of an exquisite ruby necklace with delicate rose-gold filigree – I simply couldn't leave without it!

Of course, what would a weekend in London be without indulging in a delicious afternoon tea? Afternoon tea has become something of a #PinkTutuBlogLondon ritual when visiting London! It’s all about indulging in those little sweet and savoury treats. The delicate sandwiches, the delectable scones slathered with clotted cream, and of course, a selection of scrumptious cakes, all accompanied by a pot of perfectly brewed tea. The most delectable afternoon tea? You guessed it: one adorned with the most beautiful pink finger sandwiches! I can't leave London without indulging in this little tradition!

As dusk began to fall over London, painting the city in a palette of soft purples and golds, I realized this weekend was more than just an adventure. It was an affirmation of the beautiful ballet life I’d created for myself. The dance, the fashion, the beauty - it was all about embracing joy and creativity. As I caught the train back to Derby, the London skyline disappearing into the twilight, my heart overflowed with gratitude for this incredible weekend.

Until next week, dear readers! Keep twirling!
