Pink Tutu Blog London: #907 Friday 2014-01-17 – Exploring London, One Pink Tutu at a Time!

Hey darlings! It’s Emma, your friendly neighbourhood tutu enthusiast, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Blog London! I hope this post finds you all twirling in joy! 🩰

It's a brisk Friday morning here in Derbyshire and I'm practically bouncing with excitement! Today marks the start of my long weekend trip to London. I absolutely adore London - the energy, the vibrancy, the endless opportunities for twirling and, of course, the magnificent ballet scene!

As I mentioned last week, I've been working hard to perfect a new, rather dramatic, "Grand JetĆ©" for an upcoming charity performance. It's a big one - we're raising money for the local children's hospital, so I've got my dancing shoes firmly strapped on! Speaking of dancing, this week's performance is at the stunning Sheffield Crucible theatre - if you happen to be in the area, I highly recommend checking out a show. They put on a wonderful variety of performances, from musicals to dance, there’s always something for everyone!

I packed my bags last night - there’s a very strict 'pink' colour palette involved of course - and I've got a whole host of tulle-tastic outfits planned for this weekend. Can't wait to unleash my inner ballerina on the cobbled streets of London! It’s going to be a whirlwind, as always, but one filled with so many delicious opportunities for tutus, tiaras, and a whole lot of London loveliness.

As you know, I fund my little Pink Tutu adventures with my dancing – and let's just say I’ve been working hard! I had a lovely chat with a lovely couple at my performance last night. They're really looking forward to a big anniversary next month and are considering booking a "Pink Tutu Dance Partyā€ to celebrate. I have to admit, I did let slip my ambition to get everyone wearing a pink tutu, and they just chuckled, saying that they "really loved my enthusiasmā€. We'll see! I believe in the power of pink and in my belief that everyone can find a bit of the ballerina in themselves, if they just dare to embrace the tutu! I hope that little snippet of a conversation inspires someone, somewhere, to finally let go of their inhibitions and join the tutu-volution! šŸ˜‰

It wouldn’t be a Friday without a bit of fashion talk. I have been keeping a very close eye on the Autumn/Winter collections - all that velvet, sequins and, of course, plenty of pink - and I'm utterly inspired. I’ve been especially drawn to the "Enchanted Forest" collection from Temperley London, all the flowy fabrics, rich textures and fairytale-esque silhouettes are truly captivating. It would be the perfect way to inject a bit of magical whimsy into a London evening. I can imagine pairing it with my favourite ā€œDancing with the Starsā€ pair of shoes, oh, to be gliding along the River Thames, like a princess stepping out of a storybook. Don't you just adore those kinds of fantastical daydreams?!

Now, on to London! I'm leaving for the station in a few minutes. The sound of a train whistling always seems to hold so much promise for adventure and a journey filled with possibilities! I love the feeling of getting away and immersing myself in a new place, leaving behind the familiar. There’s a magic that comes with just letting go and allowing the journey to take you where it needs to, letting the world unfold at your feet. I always get that 'travel buzz' just before jumping aboard the train – that thrilling mix of anticipation and excitement. I’ve got a feeling that this trip is going to be something special!

Follow along! Of course, you can follow my adventure here on Pink Tutu Blog London, a new post every Friday. If you're ever in the London area, do let me know - I’d love to have a tutu-filled catch up. And feel free to use the hashtag #PinkTutuBlogLondon!

But before I start boarding, let’s take a peek at what my Friday itinerary will hold!

  • Morning - After my usual pre-travel rituals (that involve a good stretch and a bit of ballet warm up, of course!) it’s time for an iconic English breakfast - and of course, it’ll include my very own recipe for "Pink-tastic Pancakes!" I always like to start a London adventure with a bit of fun. This time, my pancakes are adorned with strawberry coulis and a single edible pink glitter snowflake. Fancy! I'm then heading to King's Cross Station - I can’t help but think of Harry Potter every time I’m there!

  • Afternoon - After my journey, it's time to indulge in a spot of afternoon tea at The Savoy. They have an absolutely gorgeous ā€˜Royal Suite Afternoon Tea’ – that’s high on my list, I’ve heard that you can book a pink tea cup! This experience feels like a rite of passage for any true London aficionado! After a sugar rush, I will take a walk along the South Bank and capture some London snaps!

  • Evening - What would a Friday be without a bit of culture? Today, I'll be enjoying a captivating performance at The Royal Opera House! It's a treat to see the best in ballet up close. Tonight's performance will feature my favourite – the world renowned Mariinsky Ballet! - they’re bringing ā€œGiselle" to the stage and you simply can’t miss this masterpiece of romance and tragedy. If I am honest, a small part of me hopes they have an extra pink tutu backstage for a special surprise finale. Maybe I can sneak in a small pink tutu ensemble? Hmm… now there’s an idea!

And don’t worry, you won't be left out of the fun! There will be lots of stories to tell, with an extra-long Pink Tutu Blog post with loads of pictures. If I'm honest, there will be an excess of tutu photos. 🤫

The week is drawing to a close. I'll leave you all with a reminder - life’s too short not to twirl! Until next Friday, darlings! And remember – embrace the pink!

Pinkly yours,

Emma
