Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #959)

Friday 16th January 2015

Hello my gorgeous readers! I'm back with another post from my fabulous Friday adventures! Today, I’m in the big smoke – that's London for those of you not in the know - exploring all the exciting things the capital has to offer. And trust me, there’s a lot to offer.

After a fun train ride down from my Derbyshire home, where I’m actually living with my family while I work on my tutu career, I’m ready to dive right into the pinkness of London! (I may or may not have even donned a brand-new blush pink tutu for the occasion – the thrill, the excitement!). I've been to London before, but today is a bit different. It's my London Ballet Exploration day! I'm off to see "Giselle" at the Royal Opera House - it's the only ballet I could fit into my packed schedule and let's just say, it was worth it. I don't want to spoil it, but my word the passion and storytelling were amazing. And those tutus! dreamy

Of course, it wouldn't be a proper London adventure without a good dose of shopping. This city is a shopper's paradise, especially for a pink tutu fanatic like me! My first stop? Harrods of course! If there’s anything more impressive than their Christmas displays, it's their clothing selection.

There I found myself surrounded by layers and layers of beautiful dresses. They weren’t exactly everyday-wear, but hey, sometimes you need to just breathe in the luxury and let yourself dream a little. Maybe I even caught a glimpse of myself wearing a bright fuchsia ball gown strutting through the store in my own mini ballet show – that's the beauty of a good dose of pink. Who doesn't love to be a princess for an afternoon, even in London?

Speaking of which, it's not all high-fashion shopping you know. After all, even a tutu queen needs practical wear sometimes. I found this darling vintage coat in a shop nestled in a quiet Covent Garden alley - It's a soft, pale pink and I think it goes splendidly with everything I own, even the glitter-infused sequined tutus.

And oh my word, speaking of glitter, you won't believe the most adorable shop I discovered! I stumbled upon a little artisan shop tucked away near Leicester Square called "Bows & Sequins." Now, you might think, 'this is all about bows?' But oh no! This place is full of unique, hand-sewn sequins that sparkle, and shine, and shimmer in the most magical way!

Every color under the sun is represented here, including some I didn't know even existed! It was a true sensory overload, which I'm sure you've heard me say, is my favourite overload.

Food for Thought...And for My Tummy!

Of course, no London adventure is complete without some delicious treats, now is it? My afternoon started with the most delicious scone, in a little hidden tearoom off Bond Street called "The Rose Tea Room" . Let's just say it's not quite pink-themed, but their service and food were exceptional. The perfect blend of sweet and light - the kind of treat you deserve after an exciting shopping trip!

And then for dinner, my best friend Jess and I dined in an enchanting restaurant in Mayfair, called "The Ballet Ballroom" - get it, a ballet themed restaurant, the very definition of dreamy! I absolutely adore a good play on words. Their food was fabulous (so good! ) and their drinks were just heavenly.

Jess, by the way, doesn't like tutus. It makes me sad, because I truly believe that every woman should experience the wonder that is a pink tutu, but she's my bestie so I let her come to London anyway.

But she loved the Ballet Ballroom so that’s a good sign, right? The food was truly lovely, I'd go back again and again - for both the menu and the ambiance. After all, you just can't get enough ballet and its beauty! That's what keeps me coming back!

And speaking of returning, that brings me to this blog, which is my favourite way of sharing these adventures with all of you. I really love telling you about my latest tutu escapades! Remember to join me each week for a new installment of Pink Tutu Blog! And if you’re in London, I encourage you to come check out all the wonders that are waiting to be discovered, too! Maybe we’ll even bump into each other. After all, what's life without a little sparkle and joy?!

I truly hope you enjoyed this glimpse into my London adventure! I know that it’s been a whirlwind tour, but I had such a lovely day filled with amazing experiences, delicious food, and my love of the perfect pink tutu, which I plan on sharing every Friday. Don’t forget to check in next Friday for a new Pink Tutu blog about my new adventures.

Stay tuned! I'll see you soon, loves!

And, for all my readers that are wanting to get involved:

As promised, I thought I’d share some little bits of fun about London this week – a sort of "fun facts" about what London is known for and about its culture:

  • London's got fashion I mean, come on, this isn’t exactly a secret. It’s known the world over as a fashion hub! As I’ve mentioned, my first stop is always Harrods! There’s something magical and just wonderfully pink about its pink-hued entrance.

  • But there's much more than high-fashion Speaking of more than just high fashion, London offers everything from vintage to avant-garde clothing. I love scouring its shops and finding little pieces of myself that I would never have thought of. This week it’s my new vintage coat. It's such a classic - pink is always classic!

  • There are more Royal Shows and Royal Ballet than anywhere Let’s be real, how could I write about London without mentioning the Royal Ballet, it's really what brought me here today, and it’s what's kept me coming back for years and years! I just love watching the dedication, skill, and passion that all of the dancers have. This was really one of my dream ballet experiences as a little girl.

  • Let's not forget the London Shows...and London streets Let’s face it – I love anything that shines. Not literally, well, not all the time – I've always got my glittery tutu, but my word the lights! London’s Theatre scene - the performances are always dazzling! This is the place to see all the top West End performances. And the city streets come alive with vibrant street performers, bringing an entirely new element to the energy of the capital.

  • I can't forget, it's my birthday weekend! I can’t believe it’s that time of year! So many new adventures in my life to celebrate. The most important of them all? Living out my dream and bringing joy to others with the Pink Tutu blog! What more could a girl ask for? Oh, yes - my best friend Jess will be coming to London to share this weekend with me!

So here’s to London and pink tutus. To laughter, dreams and all the adventures waiting around every corner.

Keep your tutu spirit alive!

Emma
