Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #963: Friday Feels in the Big Smoke!

Hello, darlings! It's Friday again, and guess what? Emma's in London! 🩰

I boarded the train this morning, a little flutter in my stomach like a ballerina poised at the edge of the stage, ready to step into a brand new adventure. London, with all its energy and excitement, always has my heart dancing a little faster. I can't help but feel a surge of giddy excitement, even on a seemingly ordinary Friday morning.

It feels good to be in the city, you know? This week I've been spending time at home in Derbyshire, practicing my fouettes and preparing a few extra-special routines for upcoming performances, but London, well, it's like coming home to my favourite, twirly pink tutu. It always makes me feel alive! ✨

Travel by Train

The train journey from Derbyshire to London, you see, is more than just a means of transportation. It's a time to observe the changing landscapes, to lose myself in a good book (I’m currently rereading Jane Austen's "Emma" - so appropriate, isn’t it?), or to sketch out outfit ideas in my little notepad. (I might just add a pink fedora to my current repertoire. I wonder if they'll go with this new bubblegum-pink tutu I picked up this week!) 👒💖

But, I must confess, the best part of train travel for me is that fleeting moment, that glorious moment when the train slows down and London's skyline emerges, glimmering under the clouds. Those magnificent buildings, the majestic red double-decker buses, it all looks so beautifully timeless, and I get that same little tickle of excitement that I get before the curtain goes up on a performance. London never disappoints!

My Friday Itinerary

Speaking of excitement, my Friday in London is going to be pretty jam-packed. Here's what's on my schedule, a whirlwind tour for my lovely Pink Tutu readers!

Morning: I’ve got an early morning ballet class to work out those pirouettes. It’s great to stretch the legs and get warmed up for the exciting day ahead.

Lunchtime: Lunch at a hidden gem café, The Pink Peony (they actually do have a very, very tempting strawberry and elderflower cupcake!) - where else would I be? My afternoon is going to be all about taking in the sights. I'm already planning to take a wander through the magnificent, storybook world of Covent Garden. Who knows? I might even spot a few other fellow tutu-wearing enthusiasts! I’ll be sure to check in with a pic or two on Instagram.

Afternoon: The National Gallery is calling my name! Nothing like a little art appreciation to add a touch of sophistication to any Friday.

Evening: This evening, I’m planning to check out a performance at The Old Vic. "Hedda Gabler," you see, a drama with a strong and independent female protagonist. I'm a huge fan of the classics, and a good dramatic piece makes the perfect evening companion to a plate of salmon and a glass of chilled Sauvignon Blanc!

The Friday Feels

Every Friday, you know, has this magical feeling of possibility, doesn’t it? The world just seems a little brighter, a little more vibrant, and the thought of a whole weekend to spend pursuing my passion always puts a spring in my step. I think, when you love what you do, it's never a chore to pursue your dreams, not even on a chilly London day.

The Pink Tutu has brought me a long way, and I'm so excited to be sharing these little glimpses of my London life with you. It's so special to see all the comments, messages and emails from readers from all over the world who have embraced the Pink Tutu lifestyle. I’ve even had a few aspiring ballerina friends who are embracing the colour pink thanks to my blog. If I can make even one person wear pink, then that, for me, is mission accomplished. I know, I know… how much can I really expect to influence the fashion world? But, the joy that it brings, the spark of joy it sets off when I see other women embracing this delightful shade... it really is magical! ✨

And the wonderful thing about this journey? I'm getting to explore beautiful London with a twinkle in my eye and a pink tutu swishing around my legs. I just wouldn't have it any other way! 💖

Friday in London: What's Happening?

Just a little Friday extra for my London-loving friends, you might be interested in knowing what else is going on today!

  • Westminster Cathedral Choir concert: Get your fix of heavenly music with a performance of some of the most glorious hymns! What could be better than a Friday night dedicated to choral harmonies and soul-stirring melodies? 🎼
  • Shakespeare's Globe: Shakespeare is always a good idea! And this week is "Henry V," a captivating performance full of action and drama. Don’t worry if you’ve already seen it - I've found that each new production is unique and full of exciting interpretations! It’s a really special way to embrace a part of history and culture, too. 🎭
