Pink Tutu Blog London: #1023 - A Friday Fling in London!

Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, and oh, my goodness, London, you are a vision! Today marks my arrival in the big smoke for a whirlwind day trip, a trip that involves copious amounts of tea, ballet, and, of course, a generous dose of fabulousness! It all started this morning with a trip on the train from my little corner of Derbyshire. Oh, I love a train journey, thereā€™s just something magical about gliding through the English countryside with the wind in your hair (and a delicious cuppa in your hand, naturally!).

The day was all set for a fab Friday fling in the heart of London! Now, as a fellow ballet enthusiast knows, there are only so many performances you can squeeze into your schedule. So, I took to the streets of London armed with a very important mission - to scout out the very best shops for a sprinkle of fashion fairy dust, to catch a glimpse of a magical theatrical spectacle, and to embrace the beauty that London has to offer, one pastel pink tutu-clad footstep at a time.

My arrival in London was an experience in itself. As I emerged from Kings Cross station, I couldnā€™t help but marvel at the vibrant hustle and bustle that surrounds it. The iconic red buses, the gleaming cabs, the beautifully-dressed locals; London never fails to impress with its chaotic charm. I even spotted a sweet little tutu shop, tucked away on a cobblestone street! You could say I was in heaven, my dears.

A Taste of Theatre:

First on the agenda was a theatrical masterpiece. London is bursting with vibrant arts and theatre, and my schedule couldnā€™t be complete without a little trip to the stage. Tonight, the legendary West End was my destination, and I was beyond excited for a showing of 'The Phantom of the Opera', an absolute classic and a performance Iā€™ve been looking forward to for ages! The costumes were a dream - those Victorian gowns, the swirling ball gowns, oh the decadence! The music was spectacular, I was almost levitating from my seat with the emotion of it all.

But as you can imagine, I had to get myself in the mood for all the magic. So, naturally, I donned my newest pink tulle tutu - a glorious frothy confection that practically floated in the evening breeze! It brought a touch of feminine enchantment to the iconic London streets. I paired it with a fitted blush-colored jumper, a pearl necklace, and the biggest pair of rosy-toned sunglasses I could find, for an extra dash of sparkle!

Tea, Shopping and The Queenā€™s Treasures:

Before the curtains rose, I took a delightful pitstop at a lovely little tea shop near the theatre. It was called "The Dancing Teacup" - such an apt name, wouldn't you say? The walls were adorned with dainty porcelain figurines and elegant paintings of ballerinas. The air was filled with the delicious aroma of warm spices and the sweet notes of a freshly-baked strawberry cake. A steaming pot of chamomile tea, a little slice of heaven, and I felt utterly rejuvenated and ready to embrace the spectacle!

Now, a bit of retail therapy is a girl's best friend, wouldn't you agree? Especially when in the capital, so, next up was a leisurely wander through some of London's most famous department stores. Harrods, a haven of luxury, felt almost unreal, especially in all its Christmassy grandeur even though it was April. The vibrant colours of their window displays practically sing with glee, you know what they say, retail therapy is a woman's best friend!

Later in the afternoon, a quick trip to the Tower of London was in order. It is simply breathtaking and a must-visit, one can almost imagine the stories it holds, the lives it witnessed! But after walking around in all that historical awe, a touch of modern whimsy was calling. The Victoria & Albert Museum offered exactly that - from exquisite porcelain dolls to mesmerizing textile patterns and even more fabulous costumes, oh, my! A symphony of art and craftsmanship that captured my heart and made me feel like I had wandered into a beautiful fairyland.

Dinner in Covent Garden and Evening Delight:

As evening drew near, Covent Garden beckoned with its alluring charm and array of fabulous street performers. You know what I adore about London? The vibrant culture and artistic expression are truly astounding. A talented street artist even sketched me while I was posing, twirling in my favourite pink tutu, itā€™s going to go straight on the wall of my ballerina studio! Iā€™ll have to frame it beside my ballet class diploma and signed photo of Rudolf Nureyev!

Now, a delicious dinner with a fabulous view was on the agenda. The restaurant, called ā€œThe Little Nightingale,ā€ offered breathtaking views of the city skyline, itā€™s as if London was shining its very best, my dears. I felt utterly pampered, dining on delicious salmon, sipping a glass of chilled white wine, surrounded by the energy and excitement of a million London dreams. I may be biased but the food is always tastier when youā€™re enjoying a Friday night with a side of glamour and ballet-themed whimsy.

And with that, I closed the day with a sprinkle of magic and a heartfelt ā€˜thank youā€™ to London. What a day, and itā€™s all ready for another whirlwind adventure next week!

Stay tuned my dears, because you can bet your tutu that Iā€™ll have an equally fantastic, fabulous Friday to share with you next week!

Yours always,

Emma xx
