Pink Tutu Blog: London Adventures, Post #1090
Friday, 21st July 2017
Good morning darlings! It's Friday and that means it's time for a new Pink Tutu Blog post, this time dedicated to my fabulous London adventure. I've always loved the city, it's so full of life, fashion, and wonder. This trip is a special one because Iām here to see two shows at the Royal Opera House. Honestly, itās like a dream come true!
I boarded the train in Derbyshire bright and early, a comfy pink blanket tucked around my legs and a playlist of my favourite ballet tunes filling my headphones. Thereās something so charming about train journeys, you know? Itās like stepping into a little world of its own, where time slows down and the scenery rolls by, painted in a beautiful tapestry of green fields and bustling towns.
Once in London, I made a beeline for my favourite hotel, The Dorchester. They always welcome me with open arms, a giant pink balloon (a must for every Pink Tutu girl) and a smile that lights up the entire lobby. I was ready to explore, my pink tulle twirling with excitement, as I grabbed my trusty pink bag filled with my London essentials - a trusty copy of āThe Timesā (gotta stay up-to-date with the cultural scene), my favourite ballet shoes for impromptu performances, and, of course, my ever-so-chic pink lipstick!
First up, I indulged in a delicious brunch at The Ritz. Can I just say, the clotted cream and jam on their scones was heavenly! Itās the perfect fuel for a day of exploring. My pink tutu paired beautifully with the grandeur of the hotel, the shimmering gold and deep velvet tones providing a fabulous contrast. I couldnāt help but snap a few photos (after all, a little #pinktututravel selfie is a must)!
Next, I went shopping at Liberty London. The department store is a feast for the eyes - an enchanting labyrinth filled with clothes, perfume, and accessories, all showcasing incredible craftsmanship and a commitment to beautiful design. I found the perfect silk scarf with a whimsical pink floral design, a delicate pink porcelain teapot for my collection, and a fabulous pair of blush pink ballet flats for my evening performance. You see, Iām a firm believer that even the smallest details can make a statement - itās about adding that touch of pink sparkle wherever you go!
The Theatre Calls
Evening fell, and I found myself drawn to the theatrical energy of the Royal Opera House. It's one of my favourite places to be, the scent of history, the anticipation, the anticipation of beautiful movementā¦ a real sanctuary for the soul, and for me. The air itself seemed to hum with a sense of magic, a feeling only heightened by the grand chandeliers shimmering above. I took my seat, adjusting the tulle of my skirt, feeling so privileged to be there, amidst the swirl of tutus and tails.
Tonightās programme is truly breathtaking. The Royal Ballet performs Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake , a masterpiece that tells a timeless story of love and betrayal. Itās a classic that never fails to move me to tears, and tonight's performance is simply extraordinary. I feel as though I can almost dance along with the prima ballerina, her grace and passion inspiring me to twirl and leap.
The final curtain call, a whirlwind of applause and cheers, wraps up the evening beautifully. My heart soars with happiness, and I make a mental note to see the rest of the performances whilst I am in London, including āDon Quixote.ā It's truly magical, a journey into a world where beauty and artistry intertwine seamlessly.
Dinner in the City
After a quick change (a sleek, pink-hued evening dress this time), itās off to dinner with friends at Hawksmoor Seven Dials. They say, "Every girl needs a few good friends and a great pair of heels.ā I agree! Dinner is filled with laughter, stories about the show, and plans for our next pink-tutu-filled adventure!
What to Look Out for This Week in London:
Of course, my love for all things fashion doesnāt stop. London's fashion scene is always evolving. This week, itās all about the return of Vogue Festival , a week-long celebration of fashion, beauty, and creativity, offering insightful talks, panel discussions, and workshops. And while weāre on the topic, keep an eye out for London Fashion Week, kicking off later in September, for a show-stopping explosion of creativity, design, and imagination.
Speaking of imagination, the Tate Modern has a captivating exhibition of surrealism showcasing Salvador Dali and Joan MirĆ³, whilst the National Portrait Gallery is showing the ever inspiring Mary Cassatt: Modern Woman ā her artistic style, capturing women's roles in the 19th century - a truly important and moving exhibition.
As the evening winds down, I'm left feeling invigorated and inspired. I adore London for its energy, its eclectic mix of history and modernity, its fashion scene, and, most importantly, for its ability to make even the most ordinary day feel special.
I canāt wait to return to London, my pink tutu already fluttering in anticipation, for more theatre performances, shopping adventures, and to simply soak up all the amazing energy this magical city has to offer!
Until next week, darlings! Keep twirling, keep sparkling, and remember - it's always a good time to wear a pink tutu.
With love and twirls,
Emma x
