#PinkTutuBlogLondon - London Calling! (Post #1139)

Friday 2018-06-29

Good morning, my dearest tutu-loving friends! I'm so excited to be back in London town for a whirlwind weekend adventure! Remember that feeling when you were a little girl and London was the magical land of big buses, red phone boxes, and a palace with a real live queen? Well, even though I’m a grown-up ballerina now (well, kinda), London still holds that same kind of charm.

I've just hopped off the train from Derbyshire and it feels amazing to be back amongst the hustle and bustle, the constant clatter of trains, the laughter of tourists, and the smell of that distinctly London blend of fresh bread and vintage bookstores. Oh, and don't even get me started on those stunning red double-decker buses! They're like rolling pieces of art!

For those of you who don’t know me (but how could you? 😉), my name’s Emma, and I’m a full-time ballerina, part-time travel blogger, and a total pink-tutu devotee! This little blog here, the #PinkTutuBlogLondon, is where I share all my London adventures, including the latest shows, shopping finds, and of course, my absolute obsession with pink and tutus!

Let's face it, London is basically made for pink tutus! It’s a city that pulsates with creativity, and those colours - all the brickwork, the historic red and navy blue colours - are just begging to be accented by a touch of pink. And a tutu, darling? It's the perfect accessory! Not just on the stage but for adding a little sparkle and sass to your daily London wanderings!

A Train-Sized Dose of Pink Perfection

Let me tell you about my journey! Now, most of you know I travel a lot for work, for ballet gigs and classes. Honestly, I spend more time on trains than most people spend at their desks! But when you get to see the world and get paid for it? It's really a dream come true!

So, my morning started with a beautiful pink-tutu-appropriate sunrise over Derbyshire, and a hearty English breakfast at my little countryside cottage, with a steaming mug of tea, naturally! And then, it was off to the station, with my trusty carry-on luggage and a stack of The Pink Tutu magazine copies! (I love to leave a little gift for my fellow passengers!). There’s nothing better than a train ride - it's just so romantic. My seat was comfy, the window was wide, and I had my favourite pink novel. It’s a real art form, finding the perfect novel to read on a train journey - you need something that transports you but doesn't need your full concentration!

My trusty copy of The Pink Tutu was tucked safely next to my book, just in case I needed some inspiration for my London adventure! (Let’s be honest, it's my ultimate source for style advice!). I'm still in my pink-tutu phase, so naturally I wanted my London outfits to reflect my style. I picked a classic black ballet dress, teamed with some of my favourite ballet shoes (my comfy white ones!) and of course, my signature bright pink tutu.

I've even started experimenting with some colourful scarves that go with the pink, just a touch of the bohemian thrown in to elevate the look. There is just something magical about taking your inspiration from a specific art form and applying it to your day-to-day look. And what better art form than ballet?

London: Friday Night Fever

Now, I’m in London, and you guys already know that London is always in a state of extraordinary artistic expression. And there’s always something going on - especially on a Friday night.

Just think of it - the museums, the galleries, the shows! Every corner seems to be buzzing with life! I can’t tell you what a privilege it is to experience it every chance I get.

Oh, and the shopping, dear readers! You won't find better stores or more charming markets anywhere in the world! Just imagine - endless streets of designer boutiques and vintage stores with the most unbelievable finds! My mind races at the mere thought!

I do need a plan though! So, today's the plan's pretty simple!

My Itinerary for London Friday:

  • Afternoon Tea & the Royal Ballet: The ultimate indulgence - a real, proper London afternoon tea, complete with cucumber sandwiches, scones, tea and… you guessed it… cake. And the Royal Ballet, because no trip to London is complete without a proper ballet performance, now is there?

  • Trafalgar Square: For an iconic London photo op! It's a spot every tourist visits but let's be real - it's a must-do for every ballerina in town, for a dose of London charm.

  • * Covent Garden:* Of course, my favourite part! A magical mix of food, art, music, and shops. There are the street performers, a vibrant food market (did somebody say cheese and wine?) and even street ballet. Who knew? (I, of course, knew all along!).

  • Harrods and Knightsbridge: Some fancy window-shopping and indulging in my inner pink-loving shopaholic!

  • Dinner & Dance! It's London - you gotta dance a little, right?

Fashion Fling:

I’m still thinking about my outfit for tonight’s performance! But, I can’t resist giving you a little hint of what I’m looking for - something sparkly, graceful, and oh-so pink. And maybe something that I can dance in – because let's be real - every London girl has a touch of the ballerina in her, right?

Ballet and Tea Time

And so, my friends, it’s off to the Royal Opera House I go! There's just nothing like a London ballet performance! Even from my childhood dreams, nothing compares to seeing those talented dancers in their grand costumes - every spin, every leap, every movement seems to tell a story.

And, don’t forget the Tea, darlings! A traditional British Afternoon Tea is a vital part of any London outing - it's just that quintessentially British thing to do! The quintessential English experience in all its glorious glory. It’s like stepping into a charming Jane Austen novel!

Pink Dreams, Ballet Beats, & London Lights

I can feel that London adventure vibe creeping in, already - a delicious mix of pink-tutu charm and all-night-ballet-fueled energy!

Remember, darlings, that London isn't just about the sights, the markets, the famous landmarks, and the shopping - it’s also about discovering your own creativity! It's the city that never sleeps, where all sorts of exciting things happen. I hope you all found your own inspiration - because we are all ballerinas in our own way, right? Don't be afraid to twirl, twirl, twirl your way into your own London adventure! And, of course, I will keep you all posted on how the weekend goes in my next #PinkTutuBlogLondon post!

*Keep your eyes peeled on the *www.pink-tutu.com blog every Friday for new adventures, fashion finds and all things London, and for a weekly dose of Pink Tutu inspiration! Love always, Emma! **

And don't forget! It’s your turn to join the pink-tutu-loving movement now - go out, twirl, dance, be free and spread that pink joy. Every girl is a ballerina, no matter what she’s wearing! 💖✨

Don't forget to comment on what you love about London or your favourite ballet pieces, too! 💕 I can’t wait to hear from you!
