Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad traveller, Emma, and I'm back with a brand new London adventure! Today's post is extra special because I'm sharing all the fabulous finds I unearthed on a whirlwind Friday in this magnificent city.
My week started with a twirl-tastic performance at the Derby Theatre. My ballet troupe and I absolutely wowed the audience with our rendition of "The Nutcracker". Honestly, there's no feeling quite like seeing those smiling faces and hearing the thunderous applause after a perfect performance!
With the last notes of Tchaikovsky fading into the air, and my tutu still shimmering with stage lights, I hopped onto the train for London! ๐ This is one of my favourite things about touring - the chance to see new places and explore, all whilst basking in the post-performance glow.
Arriving at Kings Cross station, the first thing that caught my eye was a gorgeous vintage record player shop on the opposite side of the road. Of course, I couldn't resist popping in to browse. There was a beautiful gramophone playing "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and I found a charming record of my all-time favourite, The Little Mermaid. ๐งโโ๏ธ I simply had to have it.
Feeling quite peckish after my record-store excursion, I found a charming cafe tucked away on a little cobblestone street. I enjoyed a divine latte with a side of Victoria sponge, and it was so delicious I almost wanted to order another! โ๏ธ๐ฐ After all, London is all about enjoying the little luxuries.
Fully refueled, I embarked on a treasure hunt for all things pink and sparkly! I swear, you could spend days exploring the shopping streets of London, and that's precisely what I planned to do!
First up was a charming vintage boutique near Regent's Street, bursting with exquisite treasures. My eyes widened with excitement at the sight of a beautiful powder pink evening gown โ perfect for my upcoming gala! And of course, I snagged a few stunning pieces to add to my ever-growing pink tutu collection! ๐
Speaking of tutus, I stumbled upon a real hidden gem tucked away in a side street: a ballet boutique that practically glowed with the magic of dance! โจ From leotards that danced with rainbow colours to perfectly crafted tutus that would make a ballerina's heart soar, it was truly a paradise for dance lovers like myself! I even treated myself to a delicate ballet necklace with a tiny silver ballerina pendant โ so charming!
As evening descended upon the city, I felt a twinge of excitement building within me โ tonight was the night for the London Balletโs performance of โGiselleโ! I had snagged tickets weeks ago, and tonight was finally here!
My anticipation reached its peak as I made my way to the grand Royal Opera House. I'd say there's something particularly magical about a ballet performance in a venue like this โ the grandeur, the anticipation, the hushed awe in the air, it all adds to the enchantment.
The dancers were simply sublime โ their movements graceful and expressive, their costumes a feast for the eyes. I was utterly spellbound! Watching them soar across the stage, every gesture, every twirl, every leap telling a story, it felt like I was swept up in a fairytale.
After the curtain call and the thunderous applause died down, I exited the theatre, my heart still full of the magic of dance, and my head buzzing with creative ideas.
Later that night, I found myself sipping cocktails in a delightful little bar hidden away in Soho. As the hours ticked by, I caught up with fellow ballet enthusiast and my blogger bestie, Clara, and reminisced about the show, sharing our favourite moments. It was such a delight to swap stories and share our passion with a like-minded soul!
London is such an enchanting city - full of beautiful hidden corners, amazing fashion finds, delicious treats and captivating performances. Itโs no wonder this vibrant city is my ultimate favourite!
If youโre looking for a place to lose yourself in the magic of ballet and indulge your inner fashionista, then London is absolutely calling your name!
