Pink Tutu Blog London - Post 1166: A Friday in the Capital

Hello my darlings! It’s Emma, back from my little trip up to Derbyshire to see the fam, and guess what?! I’m back in London for another fabulous Friday! Now, some of you know this is a special day in my pink tutu-wearing life. I am on a mission to spread the love for the colour pink, and of course, the joy of wearing a tulle masterpiece, and so, each Friday, I bring you a new post on all things London - the fashion, the shows, the fabulous shops…everything a Pink Tutu Blogger needs to know about this most dazzling city!

Let’s set the scene, shall we? The train journey to London was, as usual, a delightful experience. My comfy carriage was a symphony of plush velvet and hushed whispers. A young girl, perhaps four years old, in a lovely floral dress sat opposite, mesmerized by the flashing landscapes outside the window. I couldn’t resist slipping into my signature pink ballet flat and popping over with a little wave. She gave me a beaming grin, and I was hooked. Another mini ballerina in the making! Isn't it just wonderful to witness the spark of ballet magic ignite in the most unexpected places?

As soon as the train pulled into Euston Station, I was greeted by the usual London bustle – a charming symphony of cabs beeping, footsteps clinking on the pavement, and a vibrant energy that makes me want to dance in the street!

Now, on to my Friday plans! First up, it's got to be a trip to the Covent Garden market. It's bursting with life, the air filled with the scents of exotic spices and the joyous sound of street musicians. My love for beautiful things makes this a must-do – every time I visit, I find another piece to add to my collection. This week, it’s a vintage silver brooch with a tiny pink gemstone, perfect for a pink tutu evening outfit!

Speaking of pink tutus, let's talk fashion! I spotted this amazing floral print top in a vintage boutique off Carnaby Street - imagine a pale pink with the prettiest white flowers cascading over it! Of course, it immediately screamed out "Pink Tutu Friday Outfit", and it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Blog without a good ol' London fashion adventure. I've been searching for the perfect ballerina skirt for ages – something whimsical, perhaps with some frills and definitely pink, and let me tell you, my London escapades never disappoint! After a delightful afternoon flitting between boutiques and sipping chai in a hidden corner cafe, I found it!

Did you know that this week marks the annual Royal Opera House Ballet season opener? I'm completely in love with the sheer grace and beauty of a live performance. And today, there was an added touch of magic – the world-famous Mariinsky Ballet Company were performing. They danced 'Swan Lake' – the epitome of classical ballet – and I was completely spellbound by their every move. The swirling tutus, the delicate extensions, the heartbreaking pas de deux... it truly was a captivating spectacle.

Now, you'd think that with a trip to the opera and shopping for an absolutely perfect new ballerina skirt, my Friday wouldn’t have space for anything else. Oh but darling, you know I never do things by half! I made it to the theatre for 'Wicked' - a musical everyone needs to see at least once, even if it is to sing along to "Popular"! I always feel so lucky that I get to witness the brilliance and sheer creativity of a live theatre show, it fills me with joy!

Did you know… that I'm funded entirely by my ballet performances! My days are full of rehearsals and gigs. It's not always easy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. After all, I love nothing more than bringing the magic of ballet to life for others.

So here I am, nestled in my comfy bed in my little London flat, reliving the amazing Friday I had exploring this phenomenal city. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to share these adventures with you, my darling readers. And if you are thinking of visiting London, don't be shy, send me a message on www.pink-tutu.com ! Remember, dear reader, you don't have to be a ballerina to wear a pink tutu. It's all about the confidence, the love of dance and life and the sheer joy of wearing a touch of magic, whether you're in Derbyshire or London!

Keep shining and never forget the power of a pink tutu!

See you next week!

Yours always, Emma
