Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #1179 – A London Adventure in Pink! 🩰🌸

Hello my darling tutus! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to London, a city that always steals my heart. This week I was lucky enough to combine my passion for dance, travel and, of course, the glorious colour pink, in one unforgettable day trip. So, grab a cuppa, get comfy, and let's step into a world of tutus, theatrical delights, and a whole lot of pink!

Train Tracks and Pink Daydreams

As always, I started my journey from my beloved Derbyshire, stepping onto a sleek, shiny train in my favourite outfit: a cherry pink tutu, a floral printed blouse and a pair of rose gold sparkly trainers. Yes, I believe in embracing pink, even in the morning! The train journey is always a joy; it's the perfect opportunity to gaze at the English countryside, lose myself in a book, and daydream about my London adventure. This week I had my eyes on a matinee performance of 'The Nutcracker', something that I've been itching to see since its run began. I love the classic story, the whimsical costumes and, of course, the glorious Tchaikovsky music!

Landing in London - Bloomsbury Brilliance

I arrived at King's Cross station, feeling the familiar London buzz. You just know you're in London by the scent, the hustle and bustle, and of course the red buses and iconic black taxis. Today, I was headed straight for the heart of Bloomsbury, a district bursting with history, culture, and the kind of eclectic shops that get my heart racing. I can't resist a bit of window shopping – vintage, boutiques, even a quirky bookstore or two – and London has the very best. It felt like a real life fairytale; I was strolling down a pink cobbled path, just me and my pink tutu, ready to absorb the magic of London.

Tea Time Delights: The Mayfair Secret

No London trip is complete without a spot of afternoon tea, and today I discovered a little hidden gem in Mayfair, a cosy, flower-filled tea room that felt like a page straight out of a romantic novel. Imagine delicate porcelain, shimmering silverware, and the scent of freshly baked scones - pure heaven! I indulged in a strawberry and elderflower tea with clotted cream and jam, the perfect fuel for my afternoon of dance!

Stepping onto the Royal Opera House Stage (Well, almost!)

With a full belly and a renewed sense of sparkle, I hopped onto the London Underground (don’t worry, I wore a lovely floral pattern scarf to shield my tutu from the throngs!) I made my way to Covent Garden, the heart of London's theatreland. You can feel the energy as soon as you enter; it's electric!

The Royal Opera House itself is a majestic building, and just to be there was enough to make me swoon! Sadly, my dream of joining a ballet performance was a bit out of reach this time, but a mere glimpse at this world-class stage filled me with a million dreams for the future. I took inspiration from every dancer I saw and, of course, snapped some pictures to capture the beauty.

Dance, Delight, and the 'Nutcracker' Magic

And then the time finally came! It was matinee time at the Royal Opera House, and the Nutcracker was about to start. The orchestra's first note filled the theatre and my heart leapt with excitement. From the intricate choreography, to the glittering costumes and captivating performances, everything was a spectacle to behold. Even the dancing sugarplums! I felt my spirit soar, just like the beautiful ballerinas on the stage.

As I left the theatre, I knew that this was just one moment in my ongoing ballet journey. There are so many other wonderful performances and shows I want to experience. My aim is to always support the art form and show it off in my pink tutu whenever possible!

A Touch of London Fashion - My Favourites

A ballet performance, of course, requires the perfect outfit! A shopping trip in Covent Garden was a must! It was bursting with independent boutiques, all with unique, exciting pieces that captured the essence of London style. From vintage treasures, to modern fashion statements, there was something for everyone – even a tutus-loving blogger like me! Here are my top finds from my Covent Garden haul:

  • A Floral Brooch: A gorgeous bloom for my pink tutu – a touch of classic London glamour.

  • Pink Patent Leather Ballet Flats: I simply adore a classic, and these flats are the epitome of femininity and London charm.

  • An Ornate Victorian Clutch: Perfect for theatre nights – because, well, everything looks better in a vintage bag.

My Favourite London Spots - My Pink Guide

After all that dancing and shopping, I treated myself to a yummy pasta dish at a lovely Italian restaurant near Covent Garden. I felt utterly spoiled! The perfect end to a truly magical day. And here's the beauty of it all: London is a city with a million pink wonders just waiting to be discovered! If you're planning your own pink London adventure, here are some places that stole my heart:
