Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! #1240
Hello, my lovely darlings! Emma here, ready to twirl you through another fabulous week. It's Friday, the sun is shining (well, mostly, it is England after all!), and that means it's time for my weekly London adventure! I've swapped my Derbyshire rolling hills for the buzz of the Big Smoke and, of course, I've brought my trusty pink tutu with me for all the exciting escapades! š
This week, I hopped aboard the train from Derbyshire to London, feeling all sorts of excited. Trains are truly my happy place ā something about the rhythm of the tracks, the scenery whizzing by, and the delicious cuppa I always buy from the trolley just makes my soul sing. You know how much I love a bit of travelling, especially by train, but nothing quite beats arriving in London - the city that never sleeps (and certainly never stops inspiring!).
A Friday Fit For a Tutu Princess
Today's outfit is a celebration of all things London: Think vibrant colour pops against the timeless elegance of a black dress, because that's what this amazing city is all about! I'm rocking a short black dress, super-swishy and perfect for a twirl, with my signature pink tulle tutu layered on top (because a girlās got to keep her tutu game strong!), a statement red bag that matches my ballet shoes (canāt have the dancefloor vibes going amiss!), and a vintage cherry-red cardigan for when the evening breeze sets in.
Royal Albert Hall - A Symphony of Sounds and Sparkle
My first stop was the iconic Royal Albert Hall - truly a breathtaking architectural gem, and a must-visit for any London trip. I can't get enough of the acoustics in there. Today, I was lucky enough to catch a performance by the renowned London Philharmonic Orchestra. It was a true musical extravaganza, and those lush, full sounds had me feeling all tingly. The orchestra is world-class, they have this incredible passion that translates through their instruments into this incredible wave of feeling, that you can't help but be swept away by. The Hall's grand Victorian architecture also adds to the special feeling, a mix of tradition, art, and talent!
Shop āTil You Drop
From music to fashion ā London has got it all, especially if you love vintage finds like me! My next destination was a charming little boutique in Notting Hill, tucked away down a quiet street, bursting with treasures. I always feel a bit like I've stepped back in time in Notting Hill, itās so romantic! They had some incredible hats, a rainbow of vintage brooches that screamed "take me home", and an absolute explosion of colorful tulle, just like my favourite fluffy tutu! Of course, I didnāt leave empty handed. šļø
The Theatre Calling
Now, what's a trip to London without a good dose of theatre? Later this evening, I'm heading to the West End to see āWickedā. Iām so excited. I've heard amazing things about the show. The cast have been doing incredible work this year and the reviews are off the charts - I canāt wait! The costumes are spectacular. And itās a must see show. Just seeing the musical and the actors gives me all the inspiration to head straight back to ballet class the next morning! š
The Power of the Pink Tutu
You all know Iām a strong advocate for pink tutus and all things fabulous. I love the sense of freedom and playfulness that comes with a twirling, tutu-clad existence. It's a powerful message of expressing yourself, embracing your inner ballerina and spreading joy. This trip to London reminds me of the incredible community of people passionate about art and culture - from musicians to fashionistas to dancers. Itās a city of self-expression and artistic inspiration - perfect for pink tutus to blossom, don't you think? š
Making Memories and Spreading Pink Tutu Love
I've had a whirlwind of a day exploring London, but thereās always more to discover! It's so easy to get swept up in the endless energy of this city - itās inspiring to see all sorts of interesting people living their best lives. My heart feels full of happiness, thanks to the magic of London and its wonderful energy, and it makes me feel so grateful to share this journey with you.

Londonās Enchanting TreatsNow, here are some little things I found that make my London journey even more spectacular:
The Best Place to Enjoy a Proper Cuppa: Honestly, finding a good cuppa is crucial in England. I love the cozy little tea room near Buckingham Palace, tucked away on a cobblestone street. They serve it piping hot and their homemade scones are to die for!
Secret Gardens: London has a ton of secret gardens hidden in plain sight! You need to keep your eyes peeled! I found this beautiful rose garden, hidden behind an old church, with so many flowers blooming. Perfect for a little daydream session.
Fashion Finds: London is truly a shopper's paradise! My favourite vintage shops are scattered around Covent Garden and Shoreditch. Iāve also recently found some incredible online vintage retailers! I can't wait to show you some of my favourite finds in my next blog.
Street Performances: London has fantastic street art, buskers playing in the squares, and singers harmonizing with the birds. I've been swept away by the energy of these impromptu performances every time! Itās such a beautiful, creative side to the city!
Food and Flair: From Michelin-starred restaurants to tiny hole-in-the-wall cafes, the food scene in London is truly diverse. Itās one of the great joys of exploring! I particularly love sampling all the different global cuisines ā it's like having a culinary adventure on a plate! You should check out Borough Market for a delicious treat.
Beyond the Tourist Trail: While there's something magical about seeing the sights, it's also fun to explore a bit further away from the traditional tourist trail! Iāve loved finding cute local pubs in the less touristy neighborhoods. It's an easy way to have an authentic London experience, you can always tell you've found something truly special.
More on Emmaās London Journey
Fashion Inspiration Remember my amazing vintage black hat from last weekās post? I got it at that antique shop by the Tower of London. Iām definitely wearing it for the āWickedā show tonight. I just love pairing classic black with pops of bright color, so a pink tutu always goes perfectly with the look. Plus, if it looks as amazing as Elphabaās hatā¦ well, Iāve got to have my own fashion moment!
The Dance World Speaking of dancing - I am in heaven at the moment, as Londonās ballet scene is absolutely killing it ! Itās so exciting to see the talent out there - every night, the city comes alive with amazing dance shows, performances at the Royal Opera House, the London Coliseum, even little off-off-Broadway spots in charming pubs. I just love soaking it all up - the music, the costumes, the athleticismā¦ It feeds my ballet-loving soul in a way I canāt describe!
A Personal Journey:
I must say, travelling to London, as a passionate ballerina, is a deeply personal journey. The city itself, for me, is a huge, bustling stage - thereās constant action, new things to discover, always a reason to twirl with joy. It feels like my own ballet adventure in full swing! And just being a pink-tutu-clad traveller in this magical place makes it all the more special, even magical! š
I love exploring the hidden treasures, the historic streets, and the amazing theatre scene that London offers. It always inspires me, brings out my inner ballerina and keeps my soul dancing!
