#PinkTutuBlogLondon - Friday 2021-09-24 - Exploring London! ✨🩰

Helloooo my lovely tutu-twirling friends! It's your favourite pink-loving ballerina blogger, Emma, and welcome back to #PinkTutuBlogLondon! Today's post marks my 1308th journey into the vibrant, exhilarating world of London - a city that, just like my favourite tutus, spins with excitement and leaves you breathless!

Today, I'm embracing my inner-Londoner, hopping off the train (oh how I love the thrill of travelling by train! The clinking of tracks, the rhythmic rocking, and the glimpse of countryside whizzing by... pure magic!) in Derbyshire and heading straight to the capital! It's been a busy week, filled with twirls and leaps in my latest ballet production, 'The Firebird,' so I'm excited to spend the day embracing the bustling energy of London's streets. I'm wearing, naturally, a magnificent pink tutu! 🩰 It's the perfect outfit for a day of fun and exploring, right? After all, pink tutus make EVERYTHING better, wouldn't you agree?

But before I delve into my whirlwind day, let's rewind and chat about the London events that made me giggle and sigh in delight this week. Oh, how the city keeps us on our toes!

A Week in Pink:

  • London Fashion Week: Oh, the spectacle! The bold prints, the statement silhouettes, and the outrageous hats! This year's Fashion Week felt like a giant ballet stage – with models taking a twirl-worthy strut down the runway and everyone channeling their inner starlet. I had the best time mingling with designers and catching a glimpse of the newest trends. And did I tell you about that stunning fuchsia velvet jumpsuit I spotted? 😍 It was made for twirling!
  • Royal Ballet Performance: Speaking of twirling, nothing compares to seeing the crème de la crème of ballet in action. This week's performance of "The Nutcracker" left me absolutely captivated! The set design, the choreography, the breathtaking artistry, everything felt utterly magical. And, naturally, I spotted more than a few tutu-inspired ensembles! (The best kind of inspiration!)
  • Southbank Centre: It's the heart of the arts, the hub of the quirky and the fun. From art installations that will make you think, to theatre productions that will leave you speechless, and street performers with a dazzling array of talents - it's an assault of delightful, eye-catching, and, dare I say, tut-worthy experiences!

Friday's Fun:

With the London pulse running strong in my veins, I decided to head to Covent Garden today - an area overflowing with artistry, history, and delightful surprises.

11 am: Coffee and Culture

Stepping off the Tube at Covent Garden, I'm greeted by a wave of excitement. The hustle and bustle is contagious, and I already feel a bit giddy with anticipation! The scent of fresh pastries and coffee lured me into a charming little café. Sipping on my latte (don't worry, there was a tiny sprinkle of pink in my cream - a must for any ballerina, right?) I grabbed my notebook to jot down my thoughts for today's blog post. After all, you wouldn't believe the inspirational places and fashion gems this city offers!

12 pm: Shopping for the Perfect Tutu

Feeling caffeinated and ready to conquer, I plunged into the delightful labyrinth of Covent Garden Market. This place is an explosion of colours, aromas, and creativity. My senses are awakened by rows upon rows of hand-crafted goodies - unique art pieces, exquisite jewelry, and oh, so much fashion! But what truly caught my eye was the "Whimsical Wardrobe" stall! Tucked in the corner, like a hidden treasure, were the most exquisite and delightful tutus you've ever seen! I mean, seriously, what ballet-loving blogger could resist? My fingers grazed a beautiful shimmering emerald green tutu with iridescent feathers. It almost whispered to me! This one would be perfect for a whimsical forest fairy dance... Maybe I should just... buy it? I mean, a girl can't have too many tutus, right? (Spoiler Alert: The tutu is now proudly residing in my wardrobe! More on its debut in a future post 😉)

1 pm: The Majestic Royal Opera House

Feeling inspired and fabulous in my brand new tutu (no, I couldn't leave without it!) I headed to the majestic Royal Opera House. A majestic structure bathed in the warm glow of London's afternoon sun, it's a symbol of cultural excellence and artistic grandeur. While not a ballerina myself, the very essence of the opera house pulsates with grace, elegance, and the power of storytelling. It simply invites you to be transported to another world – a world of fantasy, of melodies, and, of course, dancing. It truly is the heart of the city’s cultural soul!

2 pm: Lunch with a View

After a whirlwind of art and fashion, I craved some sustenance. The perfect solution - lunch on the rooftop! The views were magnificent, and the food was absolutely divine! (Who could resist a plate of salmon with asparagus and lemon butter, all enjoyed under the London sun? This city knows how to indulge your inner gourmet.) While munching, I felt my tutu flowing gently in the warm air, and my heart overflowed with happiness!

3 pm: A Touch of Theatre

Now, no day in London is complete without a dash of theatre! The London Palladium was my next destination, a legendary landmark filled with stories, laughter, and the sheer power of theatrical performance! This iconic theatre had a buzz of excitement surrounding it, making me feel instantly part of something extraordinary! While I couldn't attend a performance today (another tutu-tastic show to twirl in!), the theatre's captivating grandeur felt like a backstage peek into a world full of magic and storytelling. I’ll definitely be making plans to catch a show in the coming weeks!

4 pm: Afternoon Stroll Through the Green Heart

Feeling exhilarated after a day of artistic experiences, I meandered through Hyde Park, a tranquil oasis in the heart of London! The crisp autumn air whispered through the trees, and the sounds of birdsong added a serene harmony to my day. London really does have it all - bustling city life with serene retreats tucked in hidden corners! Taking a moment to appreciate the park's lush greenery re-energized my mind and body!

5 pm: Fashion Find at Liberty London

My love for London is undeniable, but it's impossible to resist a little retail therapy after a delightful afternoon in the park! One of London’s hidden treasures – a shopping wonderland known as Liberty London – awaited me. I stepped into the grand building, enchanted by the intricately decorated interiors and a symphony of fabrics, textures, and perfumes. My eyes glittered as I gazed upon luxurious silk scarves, delicate lace gloves, and an array of captivating accessories. There are few places on Earth where elegance meets whimsical flair with such brilliance! It's almost as enchanting as the world of ballet. I'm not sure how, but a beautiful, vintage-inspired ballet dress managed to find its way into my shopping bag - the kind of gown you’d twirl in while feeling utterly glamorous.

6 pm: A Farewell Supper and Sparkling Sunset

The day is winding down, but London's charm knows no bounds! I ended my day with a truly spectacular supper. And yes, naturally, the sunset was the most enchanting part! I picked a rooftop terrace that gave me a stunning view of the London skyline — sparkling lights against a sky of fire hues! With the cityscape aglow before me, I sipped a glass of something sparkly, reflecting on my incredible day. This is truly a city that captures the essence of elegance, fashion, and breathtaking views - a mix that is quite frankly, perfect!

My Tutu-Tastic Takeaway:

London is more than just a city – it's a living, breathing work of art! And you don't need a tutu to enjoy it, but it definitely adds a little extra sparkle and fun. 😉 I'm reminded that every day in this amazing city is an opportunity to discover something new – a street art gem, a secret vintage boutique, or a rooftop restaurant with breathtaking views! My love affair with London is stronger than ever!

And remember: Life is about embracing your uniqueness, finding beauty in the everyday, and wearing whatever makes you feel fabulous! So, why not join me and twirl into your weekend in a pink tutu? Who knows? It might just start a revolution.

Until next Friday! 💖🩰

With Love and Twirls,

Emma xoxo
