Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #1327 - A Friday Filled With Frills!
Hello my darling tutu enthusiasts! It’s Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad adventurer, and today I’m whisking you off on a delightful journey to London town!
I’ve got to admit, I love a good train journey. There’s just something so wonderfully whimsical about watching the scenery flash by as you sip on a hot cuppa, listening to a feel-good playlist and feeling all those lovely "journey vibes" swirling around you. Especially when it involves a destination as thrilling as London. I truly feel that London is the kind of city that sparkles a little more in the winter, so I decided to take the train down from my quaint Derbyshire home to immerse myself in the London buzz this weekend!
This week has been an absolute whirl of excitement, my darling tutus! With a ballet performance in Buxton last Sunday and a sold-out show in Nottingham on Wednesday, my energy has been amped up to 10! Now it’s time for London to feel my pink tutu magic!
Friday’s are the perfect days for a London adventure. The streets are a kaleidoscope of life, bustling with locals and visitors alike, the atmosphere hums with an energetic symphony, and the iconic sights just shine that little bit brighter.
My First London Stop: Fashion Wonderland!First on my London itinerary - shopping! As soon as I arrived at Kings Cross Station, I dashed into the colourful wonderland that is the Liberty store. I swear, this place makes my ballerina heart skip a beat. There’s just something about those delicate fabrics, whimsical patterns and, dare I say, even a certain “ballet” touch about Liberty’s exquisite fabrics and designs. I must admit I ended up indulging in a few delicate silk scarves, one with the most beautiful floral print that’ll look stunning with my favourite pink tutu! And as much as I loved Liberty’s beautiful things, you can always rely on Oxford Street to really get the heart racing! I spotted the cutest pink feather boa for my tutu wardrobe. It's practically screaming for a stage performance!
After a spot of afternoon tea in a charming tea room near Trafalgar Square (the delicious scones and clotted cream did the trick!), it was time to feel the energy of a London Theatre show.
Oh, the Magic of the West End!This week, London’s theatreland is all abuzz with "Moulin Rouge! The Musical." This show is a stunning tribute to the vibrant world of Baz Luhrmann’s iconic film! And oh my dear tutus, it was absolutely sensational! The energy of the music, the exquisite costumes, the incredible talent… my ballerina heart just went pitter-patter the whole night! I must admit, the finale with the chorus in their glorious, vibrant feathered tutus brought me right back to the enchanting, dazzling, showstopping beauty of classic Parisian cabarets! There was also an extraordinary ballet sequence that left me completely mesmerised. It felt like the ultimate love letter to the art form and I left the theatre with my ballerina spirit soaring!
After the show, it was time to seek out a tasty treat in the charming Covent Garden neighbourhood. The Market Hall with its stalls brimming with handcrafted goodies, festive music filling the air, and a sprinkle of twinkling lights made it truly enchanting. I ended up indulging in a steaming bowl of artisan soup, topped with fresh crusty bread - the perfect way to finish the night.
Ballet Adventures and More!On Saturday, my London ballet adventures took centre stage! I simply adore attending ballet classes in different studios and it was so exciting to be surrounded by a kaleidoscope of styles and talented dancers at London’s oldest dance studio. It felt like a fusion of elegance and inspiration, leaving me energised and ready for my evening. Speaking of energy, I knew there was only one place that could set the stage for a fabulous Saturday night: the South Bank! It truly is a kaleidoscope of creativity, brimming with theatres, exhibitions, art galleries, and a touch of London's captivating buzz! I had the most incredible experience catching a free street performance on the South Bank. Imagine this, tutus: it was a mesmerising combination of acrobatics and contemporary ballet performed on a dazzlingly lit stage overlooking the river! It was the kind of performance that makes your spirit take flight!
The Best of British Culture: A Sunday Stroll! And finally, Sunday was a day for a lovely London stroll. As a girl from the countryside, I find London’s iconic parks such as Hyde Park utterly enchanting. The crisp autumn air, the soft whisper of leaves, and the golden sunlight cascading through the trees made me feel like I was stepping into a fairytale. There is such a peaceful beauty to these spaces in the heart of the bustling city. It truly felt like the perfect way to round off my London weekend!
And as I boarded the train back home, I couldn’t help but reflect on the magic of this weekend, thinking of all those stunning tutus dancing in my head.
My dear tutus, it was such a delightful journey filled with pink and glitter, London’s vibrant spirit and my ballet-obsessed heart! You can find out about my future travel plans (including more London trips) and my performance dates at my website: www.pink-tutu.com!
