Pink Tutu Blog London #1333: A Whirlwind Friday in the Big Smoke

Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, back with another blog post from London! I've just whizzed back from another glorious trip to the capital, and let me tell you, London never disappoints! I packed my suitcase with the fluffiest pink tutu imaginable (think marshmallow pink, darling!), a smattering of gorgeous outfits and of course, my trusty ballet shoes, ready to dance my way through a day of London's best.

For this adventure, I hopped on the train from Derbyshire – my trusty, twirling carriage took me all the way to King's Cross Station, and as usual, it felt like a mini holiday just getting to London.

Speaking of mini holidays, who needs an expensive trip abroad when you've got London right on your doorstep? This beautiful city is jam-packed with things to see and do, no matter your taste. You could spend a whole lifetime exploring every nook and cranny, and still not see everything. But enough about the bigger picture, let's dive into my Friday itinerary!

Morning: A Whirlwind of Fashion and Theatre

Friday morning was all about fashion, and of course, my favourite: theatre! The day started off bright and early with a little treat from one of my favourite boutiques near the theatre. I've always believed a ballerina deserves a little bit of luxury, even before her daily pirouette! It was just the perfect dose of colour to start my day – think emerald green velvet handbag, and a shimmery, champagne pink clutch. I paired it with my new favourite ballet skirt (baby pink with a hint of shimmer – you guessed it! ).

Later, I headed straight to the theatre – I was so excited to see The Phantom of the Opera, and trust me, darlings, it truly exceeded my expectations! The musical magic was mesmerising, and the costumes were just breathtaking! I'm not ashamed to say there was a small tear rolling down my cheek (not during the sad bits – although, that opera singing is truly emotive!). There was such passion on stage; you could almost smell the theatrical history swirling around. It really got me in the mood for a dramatic yet graceful lunch – and oh, did I ever find it!

Lunch Time: The Dreamiest Pastel Picnic

Every Friday in London seems to be dedicated to picnicing. There’s just a beautiful energy in the parks, with people spreading out blankets, enjoying laughter, and just basking in the London sun (it actually happened this week!).

Now, you know I’m all about the aesthetic, so naturally, my lunch had to match! Think perfectly sculpted sandwiches with cute, pastel-coloured bread, a salad bursting with pink-toned berries, and, of course, a touch of sparkle. I popped open my pink flamingo-shaped thermos (essential!) and settled in to savour the moment – what a wonderful day for ballet and pink. I really do believe everyone needs to treat themselves to a day of indulgence like this once in a while.

Afternoon: Ballet Dreams at The Royal Opera House

The afternoon called for more ballet-related magic, of course, and my day wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Royal Opera House! As a ballet fan, it’s simply an institution. And my oh my, the majestic, ornate building was just stunning. I felt like I had walked straight onto a grand stage! I popped inside for a quick look around (and maybe a cheeky little shop in the boutique!), soaking up the atmosphere. There’s nothing quite like being surrounded by art and history in one beautiful space – and even a ballerina needs to get inspired sometimes! It’s not often you feel the magic of the theatre lingering around, even outside a performance. I highly recommend popping in just to explore the grandeur.

Dinner and the Dancing: The Evening’s Delights

Once I’d finished my explorations, I was ready to explore another side of London. Time for a little culture and… oh yeah, a lot of dancing! I found myself waltzing into one of the city's many jazz clubs. It was bustling with energy – a fantastic mix of dancers and musicians, all ready for a good night out. Let’s just say I ended up pulling a few moves with a very charming gentleman – just because I was enjoying the vibe. Let’s not forget I had my new pink tutu on! After a long day of dancing through London, what’s better than getting your groove on in a jazzy nightclub with a friendly bunch of people. It was certainly a night I wouldn’t forget!

A Note to My Darling Readers: Wear a Pink Tutu

To sum up, another brilliant day in London. What’s truly remarkable is that London has everything you could possibly need in one beautiful space! If I'm feeling bold, you bet I'm adding another layer of colour to London, one pink tutu at a time! It's time we brought some more joy to our lives, a dash of glamour and a sprinkle of pink! I think the world needs a bit more pink, and a lot more twirling, so go on! Give it a go – you might be surprised at how much you enjoy yourself.

I hope you enjoyed my Friday escapades! Join me next week for more Pink Tutu London Adventures! Remember, don't be afraid to twirl into a fabulous weekend, embrace the fun, and as always,

Stay Pink!

Emma’s Pink Tutu Adventures: What’s Happening in London This Week (Friday 2022-03-18)

Top of the Week’s To-Do List in London

For The Ballet Lovers: The Phantom of the Opera & The Royal Opera House

London’s Theatreland is truly brimming with magical moments, and I always suggest getting a ticket for the timeless masterpiece, The Phantom of the Opera. With music so moving, performances filled with drama, and costumes fit for a masquerade, you’ll be whisked away into a captivating story you’ll not forget!

And of course, the Royal Opera House is just breathtaking – truly a London must-see. As always, the ballet performances at the Royal Opera House are outstanding! They’re renowned worldwide for their dedication to perfection and innovative artistry. Plus, it’s a chance to get immersed in that elegant atmosphere. Even if you’re not catching a performance, don’t miss out on a chance to simply explore the theatre! The architectural grandeur alone is worth the trip.

For the Shopping-and-Dining Darling: London's Boutique Treats & Parisian Chic

Now, darlings, who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned shopping trip? I highly recommend starting in Covent Garden. With an eclectic range of boutiques, cafes, and artists’ stalls, you’ll find anything from bohemian dresses to contemporary fashion. I, of course, had my eyes on the ballet-inspired outfits, but trust me, there’s something for everyone.

When your stomach starts rumbling, you’re spoilt for choice with the abundance of restaurants and cafes. But for something a little special, I’d recommend taking inspiration from Paris with a romantic, sophisticated French-style lunch – think delicious baguettes, delicate sandwiches, a glass of bubbles (don’t forget a splash of raspberry), and of course, a perfect Parisian-style picnic! The gardens in Covent Garden are a lovely spot to set up and let the delicious smells and ambiance waft around you.

For The Social Butterflies: Live Music and Nightlife

Let's face it, sometimes the perfect evening is an intimate setting full of lively, uplifting vibes! I find a great live music venue brings people together with something for everyone. You’ll find fantastic local jazz clubs across the city – I personally love their electric energy. Grab your favourite pink tutu, get ready for some dancing and, well, what happens in London, stays in London! Just make sure you find a fun, lively bunch of people and don’t be afraid to step onto the dancefloor!

More Pink Tutu London Inspiration:

If you’re feeling inspired to see a bit more of London, you might also like these suggestions:

  • A Visit to Kensington Palace: If you’re dreaming of a regal day, I recommend making your way to Kensington Palace – it’s filled with the glamour of London’s Royal history! You can explore the state apartments, wander through the stunning gardens, and discover what life was like for royalty centuries ago. The palace also showcases art collections and the life of the stunning Diana, Princess of Wales, and a whole host of exhibitions, from modern to historic – you’re guaranteed to discover something you’ll love!

  • The Thames River: Whether you hop on a boat, wander by the banks, or take a trip down in a sleek boat for dinner – it’s a breathtaking view, even on a day like mine with a hint of sunshine! You’ll be greeted by the imposing Big Ben (which is still shrouded in scaffolding, but still very magnificent!).

  • Tower Bridge: One of London’s landmarks, this is an impressive, iconic structure, and a must-see if you're venturing into London! It’s also beautiful from afar as you see it framed against the skyscrapers. For an even closer experience, explore inside and see how it works – they have exhibitions about the tower’s fascinating history. And what better way to explore London's history, landmarks and sights than with a day-trip on the river?

My Friday London Must-Haves

And for those who are asking (or dreaming), these were the magical details of my day!

The Tutu: Marshmallow Pink with delicate swirls of shimmering tulle! A girly-girl classic that never goes out of style.

The Shoes: My favourite comfy, but still super-elegant pair, a classic ivory pair, ideal for the long day and any impromptu dance session. You just never know when the opportunity will present itself for a twirl or a waltz.

My Handbag: This is actually a big handbag! My new fave is a lovely sage green velvet satchel – the perfect size to carry everything!

My Other Clutch: Because no day in London is complete without the essential shimmer and shine! And this little clutch, champagne pink and beautifully adorned with twinkling crystals is just too much fun for a night out.

I hope you enjoyed another exciting week of London with Pink Tutu Adventures! See you next week, darling! And remember, a pink tutu is all you need to have an amazing day, anywhere, anytime.

Stay Pink!
