Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #1336 - Friday 2022-04-08: A Whirlwind of Pink in London!

Hello, my darlings! It's Emma here, back from a fab Friday in London town! Remember the excitement in last week’s post about my trip to London this week? Well, London did not disappoint, and as you know, the whole city has been pink tutu ready! I am a huge believer in always dressing for the occasion, so, for a Friday full of fun, what better than a pink tulle tutu, a pretty pink floral top, my trusty pink bag, and sparkly pink ballet shoes. It's like a pink explosion!

Today's post will be bursting with my adventures, so put your kettle on and get comfy – we're about to embark on a pink and twirly journey through London's buzzing streets!

Travel by Train - A Journey of Twirls!

I started my day in my hometown of Derbyshire. The sunshine was streaming in and, even before breakfast, I could feel the energy of a fun day ahead. A big mug of coffee (I do like a strong brew!) later, I was ready for my train ride to London! My favourite thing about train travel is the window seat – so perfect for spotting all those wonderful things. It's just me, a good book and the view whipping past as I head off on a fabulous London escapade.

When I got off the train at Kings Cross St. Pancras, I could already feel the buzz of the city. Everyone was rushing somewhere! I found myself grinning like a child at Christmas. A smile is contagious, you know. A kind gentleman noticed my grin, and he gave me a little nod, I think I may have made his day. London people are so friendly!

Pink Power: Shopping in Soho!

Off I went to Soho to shop! The first thing on my to-do list was my favourite boutique, Pretty & Pink on Oxford Street. There was a new, limited-edition tutu on display that had a shimmering gold hem, just the thing for a special occasion. They even have the most beautiful pink feather boas! I may have had a slight splurge, and my bag was getting heavier, but it was worth it. The best part about being a dancer? You have a valid excuse to buy a lot of tutus, even if it means having to bring a second suitcase home.

My shopping haul complete, I was ready for lunch at a fabulous little French bistro that I found on the corner of Shaftesbury Avenue, near a fantastic vintage clothing store called The Time Warp that has the best retro styles.

Pink Tea Time with a Twist!

Lunch was delicious - a lovely croque monsieur and some tasty macarons! Afterwards, I took a stroll through Regent's Park to get some fresh air before my special treat – a traditional pink afternoon tea at The Dorchester. Imagine! A table full of tiny sandwiches, delicate scones with clotted cream (my favourite!), a wide variety of pastries and, of course, a bottomless teapot of steaming Earl Grey tea. It was perfect. They even had pink-tinted cakes!

The Wonder of Ballet – A Perfect London Night

Later, I had my heart set on a ballet show at the Royal Opera House, so I took a ride on the London Underground to Covent Garden. There’s always such a buzz in this part of the city! With the vibrant colours of the buildings and all those street performers, it feels like I am in a film from another time, just without the black and white. I adored the production of "Swan Lake." Seeing such graceful ballet is a true joy – and seeing the beauty of the costumes, those ethereal tutulés made for such a lovely evening. The entire production transported me into another world – I'll never get bored of the magic of ballet!

After the show, a light dinner, a long walk across Waterloo Bridge (such beautiful views!) to see Big Ben in all its glory (it still looks magnificent even from a distance, although the scaffolding around it is sadly very much in evidence!), and then back home.

Why Pink is the New Black!

For me, Pink is more than a colour; it's a way of life! It's about being playful, optimistic, and full of life. It's about bringing a little sparkle and joy into the world. You can see why I was delighted to see all the new pink stores in London! My heart skipped a beat as I spotted Pink Power on Carnaby Street. The name is everything to me - a vibrant pink clothing shop full of everything a pink lover could desire! I think I may have purchased more pink tutus here! I couldn’t resist – and you know what – life’s too short to say no to more twirling, right? I think I made everyone in that shop feel a little happier just being surrounded by that vibrant pink colour.

London always has the perfect mix of everything: historical sights, art galleries, and trendy fashion stores, making it one of the most interesting cities in the world! Even with a packed day like this, I didn’t manage to explore it all – but with my love of exploring new places, I will be returning again very soon.

Until then, please do let me know what you’d like to see me explore in the pink! Do leave your comments on the blog website: www.pink-tutu.com . You can find me on Instagram and Facebook as @PinkTutuLondon to join in the pink!

I can’t wait to twirl into next week with more pink adventures. Stay fabulous, darling!

XOXO, Emma

Extra Notes:

Why Pink Tutu Blog?

So you may be wondering why "Pink Tutu Blog London." Why Pink Tutu? I have to say that, over the years, wearing a tutu in my daily life has brought me so much joy! It has started conversations, put smiles on faces, and encouraged people to dance like nobody’s watching! What could be more powerful than that? I really think that wearing a tutu, especially a pink one, is the perfect way to embrace life and celebrate your inner child! Why don't you join the pink revolution?

Finding Your Inner Ballerina

Many people love ballet, but have never dared to try it out, or may have been intimidated, which I think is a huge shame. So I thought to myself, why don’t I create a blog about sharing all things ballet and pink with the world and encourage others to take the plunge!

This week I tried a new ballet class. What is the most fantastic way to get fit, stay youthful, and learn new things? Ballet classes are an excellent way to get in touch with your body, your creativity, and the power of movement. I recommend it! There is something truly magic about putting on your dancing shoes, stepping out onto the studio floor, and letting your inner ballerina shine! I really recommend that you check out the many ballet classes happening in your area! You never know how much you may enjoy it, it might be your hidden talent, just like it is mine!

This week, there are two other amazing things going on:

Firstly, there is a Tutu-licious Afternoon Tea Party happening in Covent Garden. It will be a total pink celebration – from the pink decor to the pink finger foods to the chance to twirl in pink tutus and take photos, it will be a complete dream!

Secondly, The London Festival of Ballet kicks off this weekend, and there will be shows, workshops, and lectures all weekend! What a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in ballet's magic and wonder. If you love the colour pink, you have to check out the Pink Power Ballet Performance at The Royal Opera House. All the costumes are in pink! I can’t wait to be in the audience – what a pink celebration of ballet!

Now that the sun is shining, make sure you get out there to dance – maybe on your balcony! We all need more dancing in our lives!

If you’d like, please do write to me. I’d love to hear from you and hear all about your adventures!

Until next Friday,

XOXO, Emma
