Pink Tutu Blog London #1357 - Friday, 2022-09-02 - Exploring London's Sparkling Gems!

Hello, my lovely pink-loving readers! It’s Emma here, your tutu-wearing guide to all things fabulous. I’m buzzing to be back in London! After another triumphant performance with the Derbyshire Dance Ensemble (it was a stunning rendition of "Swan Lake," by the way - if you see them performing, go!), I’m finally here, ready to dive into London’s vibrant energy, sparkly lights, and, of course, its extraordinary fashion scene!

This weekend is about indulging in the things that make my heart sing: dazzling dance shows, thrilling shopping adventures, and finding the prettiest spots in the city. And naturally, this being Pink Tutu Blog London, we’ll be embracing the vibrant hue of our dreams: pink, of course!

Let’s dive in!

Arriving in London: The Glamour Train

You guys know my love affair with trains runs deep! The journey from Derbyshire was absolutely dreamy. My pink tulle tote bag was overflowing with excitement, and my favourite blush pink polka dot dress swirled with every curve of the tracks. This week’s must-have accessory? My oversized straw hat, adorned with a jaunty pink ribbon, that perfectly captured the sunshine that streamed through the carriage window.

Yes, it may sound extravagant, but for me, the train journey is part of the adventure. It’s the perfect opportunity to settle into a book, pen down ideas for new tutu designs (which are already bubbling in my mind, trust me!), or simply gaze out at the world passing by, feeling like the most fabulous heroine in a vintage movie.

P.S. A little secret for all you lovely tutu-wearing souls – a travel-size hairspray is a MUST for train travel! Keeps those twirls and swirls looking absolutely smashing, even after hours on the train.

London Day Trip: An Ode to Pink, Shopping, and Glittering Gems!

After settling into my cosy little Kensington hotel (think plush pink cushions and vintage floral wallpaper – heaven!), I was ready to explore! The sunshine was positively radiating, the streets buzzed with life, and I was itching to unleash my inner shopaholic.

Shopping Spree:

First stop, the iconic Oxford Street! It's like a sartorial rainbow exploding with creativity! A rainbow of color and styles! This week, my goal was to find the perfect pair of pink-hued shoes to complement my new blush-toned sequined jumpsuit - something utterly divine for this weekend’s upcoming ballet performance at the London Coliseum. Oh, the possibilities! I envisioned something delicate and playful, perhaps a ballet flat with delicate pink embellishments or a chic, blush-toned platform heel with just the right touch of glitz.

Of course, I can’t go shopping without my usual dose of tutu-inspiration! A delightful pink tulle skirt, the most magnificent pink feather boa (yes, it's a necessity!), and a bejeweled pink headband were the perfect additions to my wardrobe.

Cultural Delights:

This being London, there's always something fascinating around every corner. And my cultural curiosity was fully piqued today.

  • The Royal Albert Hall: A glorious structure filled with echoes of history! I took a detour through Hyde Park to admire its intricate design, feeling utterly captivated by its imposing presence. The pink peonies blooming near the hall were a truly lovely touch – a touch of nature’s exquisite artistry alongside London’s architectural grandeur.

  • The V&A Museum: Oh, the treasures! The V&A’s "Pink: The History of a Colour" exhibit was positively enchanting. From fashion and textiles to ceramics and paintings, it was a captivating exploration of this fabulous colour's journey throughout history. It’s an absolute MUST-SEE for anyone who, like myself, holds a deep fondness for the lovely shade of pink. Did I mention the incredibly photogenic installations? Let’s just say my Instagram feed got a major boost!

  • Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre: I just had to pay a visit! Stepping into this historical marvel was like being transported back in time, filled with the essence of Shakespeare’s words. While not specifically "pink," the historic charm of the theatre captivated me – an enchanting space where the magic of theatre unfolds!

An Evening of Dance at the London Coliseum

After my busy day of exploration and retail therapy, nothing felt more perfect than a night of pure enchantment: a ballet performance at the iconic London Coliseum. Tonight’s show featured a breathtaking performance by the English National Ballet, their rendition of "Giselle" was nothing short of magical! The haunting music, the exquisite costumes, the breathtaking dance sequences – it was simply spellbinding. And it’s no secret I loved the beautiful ballerina's flowing pink tulle skirts, and those amazing tutus - so inspiring for a pink tutu blogger, right?

Afterwards, a little celebratory treat at the cafe next to the Coliseum with my friend, Rosie (who you guys will meet one day - she's always a fun adventure!) was the perfect way to end the evening. There’s nothing better than sharing those moments of excitement with friends who share the same passions.

Pink Tutu Dreams & Plans

As I write this, the city is just starting to wake up. I'm sitting here at my desk, with a steaming cup of pink-hued Earl Grey tea, the aroma of freshly-baked scones in the air, and already plotting tomorrow's adventures.

Tomorrow is a day for embracing the "London Eye" experience and soaking up the breathtaking panoramic views. And then it's back to the Derbyshire Dance Ensemble for more rehearsals! But for now, I’m relishing the sheer joy of being here, a tutu-wearing adventurer embracing London’s enchantment, a city that sparkles and shines with the same bright joy as my own favorite colour: pink!

Remember, the world is your dance floor! Be brave, embrace your individuality, and spread joy – especially in a dazzling pink tutu. It's the way to a life filled with beauty, inspiration, and endless possibilities!

See you all next week for more pink-tastic adventures!

Keep it pink,

Emma
