Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #1374 - Friday 2022-12-30 - Exploring the Festive Capital

Hey lovelies!

It's Friday, it's the end of December, and the year is practically over! Where has the time gone?! I'm back with another Pink Tutu Blog, this time from London! I love coming to the Big Smoke - the buzz, the excitement, the iconic landmarks and, of course, the fabulous shops!

This trip's a bit special - my ballet performances are bringing in the dosh, so I thought, why not treat myself to a weekend in the capital? Plus, Christmas is just around the corner and the festive cheer in London is just something else!

As usual, I hopped on the train in Derbyshire, feeling a little bit like I was stepping out of a period drama ā€“ it was all comfy armchairs, vintage posters and friendly chat with fellow passengers. (You've got to love a good train journey, right?)

Iā€™m in a very festive mood, my lovely readers. I have my fluffy pink tutu on, sparkly pink leggings, and a pink pom pom beanie hat for good measure. I know I should be dressing up for the occasion with a fancy red coat and glittery earrings but thereā€™s just something so playful and charming about a pink tutu at Christmas time. Besides, if Iā€™m going to convince everyone to wear tutus, I might as well lead by example!

Now, letā€™s talk London! I'm just getting started, so buckle up! Today's all about exploring the city, and of course, sharing some outfit ideas with you beautiful lot.

First Stop: Covent Garden

It's no surprise that Covent Garden was my first port of call. Honestly, I donā€™t think thereā€™s a prettier place to soak up the atmosphere. The Christmas decorations were twinkling, the carol singers were performing and everyone seemed to be in the best of spirits! I could see myself spending hours wandering the stalls and taking in the sights and sounds of Christmas London. It's also great for a spot of people-watching and taking inspiration for my next pink tutu look. You never know when you're going to spot the next big trend!

Outfit inspiration: My pink tutu looked quite at home amongst the festive chaos of Covent Garden! You know what would have been great with the whole Christmas vibe? A long pink coat, and some knee-high fluffy boots! Oh, and don't forget the glitter, my lovelies! The more sparkles the better for a Christmas outing, I always say.

A Dash of Culture: The National Gallery

From the lively streets of Covent Garden, it was off to the National Gallery! Let's face it, a little culture never hurts anyone. Even if you're not into art, it's a gorgeous building. But who's to say there's no ballet inspiration in art? I spotted some pieces with graceful figures, reminiscent of ballerinas in mid-pose. See? I told you! Everything has some sort of tutu potential.

Outfit inspiration: A timeless classic for a visit to a museum? A simple white blouse and a flowing, A-line pink skirt! To spice things up, add a statement belt, a bold pink lip and maybe a dainty headband. Or you know what would really stand out? A vibrant fuchsia coloured jacket, perhaps?

Fashionably Late: Shopping Spree in Regent Street

Let's be honest, it wouldn't be a proper London trip without a bit of retail therapy! So after the art and culture fix at the National Gallery, it was onto Regent Street, the mecca of luxury brands. Even if you're just window shopping, Regent Street is pure magic. The festive lights, the iconic department stores, the buzz - it's intoxicating! As a seasoned shopaholic, I just had to step inside some of the shops.

Outfit Inspiration: A black cocktail dress with a pink feather boa? YES. Throw on a fabulous pair of red shoes, some pearl earrings and a clutch, and you've got the perfect outfit for an evening of Christmas shopping in the capital. Now, remember, if it doesn't make you twirl, it's not the right look, my loves.

Taking the Stage: An Evening of Ballet at the Royal Opera House

Oh, the highlight of the trip! Tonight, weā€™re experiencing the magic of ballet at the Royal Opera House! I was so excited! The building was all lit up, looking like a majestic fairytale palace. Even walking into the Royal Opera House gives me goosebumps. Tonightā€™s performance? ā€œThe Nutcrackerā€. A classic, and a wonderful excuse to get festive and lose myself in the story of ballet.

Outfit inspiration: It was time for the big reveal! For a grand ballet evening, there's only one way to do it: go all out in a gorgeous pink ballgown! (Or, maybe a fabulous tutu, just because, you know.) Letā€™s be real - any tutu makes an excellent outfit for a night of dance. But for something really magical, I'd go for a beautiful flowing pink gown, a silver clutch bag, and sparkly pink shoes! Just try not to get them on stage! The most important thing? Let the joy and magic of ballet flow through you.

From Dusk Till Dawn: The Beauty of London by Night

What better way to finish off the evening than with a romantic stroll along the Southbank? It was getting dark, but London lights looked incredible as I made my way along the Thames. The river looked peaceful under the moonlight, the Christmas decorations were all sparkling, and I couldn't help but smile at the charm of it all. If youā€™re in London at this time of year, be sure to check out the Christmas markets on the Southbank! They have food, drink, arts and crafts and music, all adding to the festive vibe.

Outfit inspiration: I loved a chic monochrome look - think a sleek black blazer with a cream top, some comfy trousers (for the walking), a chic pink scarf and, of course, some fabulous pink ballet shoes for the finishing touch! Remember to layer up with a comfy coat too - London nights can get quite chilly!

A Day of Magical Memories

Today's been an amazing adventure! It's been all about discovering the hidden corners of the capital, embracing the festive cheer and sharing the joy of pink tutus with everyone I met along the way!

Pink Tutu Thoughts
  • Pink is definitely the colour for Christmas! Don't believe me? See my Instagram, everyone else seems to be agreeing!
  • Covent Garden never fails to impress. Itā€™s one of those places that never gets old. It's like a kaleidoscope of colour, sound, and fun.
  • Shopping in Regent Street? Yes please! If you're looking for a luxurious shopping experience, this is the place to be. But make sure youā€™ve had plenty of Christmas pud beforehand!
  • The Royal Opera House is a masterpiece! Iā€™ll always have a place in my heart for ballet, but the Royal Opera House, with its history and beauty, really takes things to a new level.
  • A night by the Thames? It's always a treat. A walk along the Southbank, enjoying the views and taking it all in, is the perfect end to a London day. Don't forget to check out the Christmas markets, too!

Well, lovelies, I think that's a wrap for this week's Pink Tutu Blog. Thanks for joining me on my festive adventures through London! Don't forget to leave me a comment, let me know what you thought of my adventures!

And remember, no matter where you are in the world, be bold, be fearless, and let your pink tutu shine! Until next Friday, stay fabulous!

Love,

Emma x
