Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, and this week I’m bringing you all the glitter and glamour of a Friday in London! I packed my trusty travel bag with my ballet shoes, a whole rainbow of tutus, and a head full of dreams - all ready for an action-packed day in the Big Smoke.
As always, I made my journey to London by train. There’s something so magical about travelling by rail. Watching the world rush by from my window, with a steaming cuppa in hand, is a perfect way to start any adventure. This week, the carriage was filled with excited chatter as everyone headed into the city for the weekend. You can practically smell the excitement in the air!
First Stop: A Touch of Royalty at Buckingham Palace
My first stop was Buckingham Palace. It’s always such a thrill to see this majestic landmark. With its impressive facade and grand history, it's like stepping back in time. This Friday, however, the Royal Family was on tour so there was no Changing of the Guard Ceremony - much to my disappointment! But, not to worry, I just had a good time imagining what it must be like to live in such a grand house. Maybe I can work my way up to being the Queen’s ballet dancer, and have a special pink tutu created just for me? It’s all a bit of a dream, I know, but wouldn't it be just fabulous?
Next Up: A Spot of Fashion Therapy on Oxford Street
After my Royal visit, it was time to indulge in a little fashion therapy. What better place than the heart of London's fashion scene – Oxford Street? It’s a whirlwind of shops, and I was like a kid in a sweet shop! The window displays were mesmerising, and my shopping bag was quickly filling up. Of course, I had to find myself a new pink tutu (one can never have too many!) - it's got beautiful shimmering silver sequined detailing. I think it'll look absolutely incredible on stage. And of course, I couldn't resist a few pairs of brand new pointe shoes, those pointy pink beauties that let me soar across the stage.
An Afternoon Tea With a View at The Shard
To replenish my energy levels, I treated myself to afternoon tea at The Shard, the city’s most impressive skyscraper. Oh my goodness, the views were breathtaking! From 80 floors up, you could see the whole of London, including landmarks like the Tower Bridge, Big Ben, and the London Eye - it was absolutely glorious. And the afternoon tea was absolutely delicious too - delicate finger sandwiches, pastries that were a work of art, and of course, plenty of hot, milky tea.
A Magical Evening at the Royal Opera House
No trip to London is complete without a visit to the Royal Opera House. This grand old building has witnessed countless unforgettable performances, and tonight I was treated to a mesmerizing performance of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake." The beautiful music, the talented dancers, and the stunning sets - I was transported to a world of pure magic. I actually even cried at one point, it was just so incredibly beautiful!
After the show, I popped into the Royal Opera House’s shop to admire all the exquisite items they had on display. It felt like I was walking through a ballerina's dream. The ballet shoes! The costumes! The posters! And the exquisite books! It was everything a ballerina girl could possibly wish for!
Evening Fun: Lights, Camera, Action at Covent Garden
No trip to London is complete without an evening wander through Covent Garden. The famous Piazza is bustling with energy - the atmosphere was infectious! With street performers and musicians filling the air with music and laughter, Covent Garden always brings a smile to my face. I stopped for a delicious Italian pizza, before making my way home to pack up for the trip back to Derbyshire.
I had the best time exploring London today! There is something for everyone in this fantastic city. It's so vibrant, full of history, culture and of course, lots and lots of fabulous fashion. I truly believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience London, especially with a little bit of pink tutu magic!
This Friday was all about: * * *Royal grandeur: A trip to Buckingham Palace and seeing London's most famous royal residence in all its glory. * Fashion galore: Hitting the shops on Oxford Street to find the perfect pink tutu, and new pointe shoes to go with it. * Taking it to the top: Enjoying afternoon tea at the Shard, with its jaw-dropping view of the entire city. * Immersed in artistry: Attending the Royal Opera House and being captivated by a beautiful performance of "Swan Lake." * Finding inspiration: A magical wander around Covent Garden, enjoying the sights, sounds and atmosphere of this iconic location.
