Pink Tutu Blog London: Friday Fun in the Big Smoke! 🩰💖

Post Number 1450 - 2024-06-14

Hello, darlings! Emma here, ready to whisk you away to London, my absolute favourite city in the world. This Friday I traded my Derbyshire hills for the urban jungle of the capital, arriving by train (a journey I adore, a great excuse for some stylish train-travel outfit planning, obvs!) – all with the sweet melody of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake dancing in my head. After all, today’s itinerary promises to be as exciting as a grand pas de deux, filled with shopping, culture and some serious sparkle!

Ballet Dreams in London

This trip’s fueled by the enchanting allure of the ballet! You see, my dear readers, a ballerina’s gotta do what a ballerina's gotta do to support her pink tutu habit, so I've been busy twirling my way through several ballet performances back home, saving every penny to indulge my inner fashionista in London’s fabulous boutiques. And oh, the things I have in store for you today!

But first, let’s get those dancing feet going, because there’s nothing like a good ballet class to set the mood for a fabulous Friday! This morning I waltzed into a gorgeous studio near Victoria Station (you can never have enough tutu-tastic shops in that area) for a delightful beginner’s ballet class. Honestly, there’s nothing more joyful than gliding across the studio floor in your best ballet shoes, wearing a cute, comfy outfit (today's choice was a pale pink top and leggings with my trusty grey dance tights) and feeling your worries melt away.

Shopping Spree on Oxford Street

After my morning pirouette, it was time for the highlight of the day – the famous Oxford Street! Forget your designer names and expensive labels; the real treasures of this iconic street are the small, independent boutiques bursting with unique finds and vintage charm. I have to say, I have a serious weakness for vintage shops (and any shop that boasts an impressive selection of sparkly tights!), and this afternoon's shopping expedition was truly a feast for the senses!

After browsing a fantastic array of retro jewellery, shoes and statement jackets, my bag was feeling decidedly plump. (Did I mention my new blush-pink handbag is simply adorable?!) It's a struggle, I know, but I promise to bring you a dedicated fashion post soon with all my treasured finds, just as soon as I’ve photographed them for you, darlings!

Delicious Dinner in Covent Garden

And what would a perfect day be without a fabulous dinner? The delectable aromas wafting from Covent Garden were irresistible, so I settled for a charming little Italian bistro with gorgeous outdoor seating – perfect for soaking in the atmosphere. A glass of something bubbly paired with a pasta dish fit for a princess, a delectable little salad (fresh veggies are essential for a dancer’s diet) and a delightful conversation with a couple from Manchester (who even wore a fabulous pink scarf - I mean, come on! How divine!) rounded off a truly delightful evening.

A Day for Dreams and Dreams Come True

This Friday has been pure magic, an escape from everyday worries and a delightful immersion in all things tutu-tastic. As I hop back onto the train heading home, I feel refreshed and inspired. London’s energy, the people, the streets – everything just bubbles with an exciting sense of possibilities.

Now, I'll be back next Friday with more London adventures. But for now, it’s time to plan for my next dance performance! Until then, darlings, don't forget to live your dreams, wear a little sparkle, and make every day a ballet!

Stay Tuned: This week's blog will be packed with outfit details and photos from the fantastic shows I’m seeing at the Royal Opera House – 'Romeo and Juliet' is coming up on the weekend and oh, how I love Prokofiev’s score.

Now, darling readers, it’s time to dream of ballerinas and pink tutus. Until next Friday!
