Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #1488)

Hello my lovely Tutu Tribe!

It’s Friday, which means it's time for a brand new blog post! I'm so excited to be writing this one from the bustling heart of London! I’ve hopped on a train from my Derbyshire home, clutching a copy of my favourite ballet book - 'The Art of Ballet', and I'm already buzzing with the energy of the city.

This week, I’m exploring London. I have been waiting ages to do this trip, as London has so much to offer a pink tutu-loving ballerina like me.

My life is a whirlwind of pirouettes, perfect pinks, and a whole lotta tulle. This week, I've been travelling for a string of fantastic ballet performances, the proceeds from which will be funding this fab London adventure!

Today's journey began in Derbyshire. The train ride is a delight! My train ticket was emblazoned with a stunning pink tutu pattern, which of course made the whole trip more magical! If I haven't convinced you all to buy a pink tutu already, I truly don’t know what will.

And it was the perfect excuse to wear my new, oh-so-fabulous, hot pink tutu. I may be a seasoned tutu-wearer, but let's face it, I love a brand new addition to my collection, and this one was made of shimmering pink fabric that sparkles in the sun, catching all the attention (and causing a whole lot of smiles!)

After all, what’s better than a pink tutu while taking in the green countryside views during my train ride? Nothing!

A Pink Tutu London Day

Right now, I’m sitting in a charming little café near Piccadilly Circus, sipping on a perfectly pink latte (of course).

But I’m so ready to get out there!

So here is the plan. My trusty London guidebook is already open on the table beside my pink-embellished laptop (which I actually won from a ballet competition, just to brag!).

A Stroll Through History

My first stop is going to be Buckingham Palace! I know, I know. It’s quite cliche, but let's be honest, how could I visit London without snapping a picture of the iconic gates, even if the Queen herself is not there! And the Changing of the Guard? Simply divine. It's going to be spectacular, especially as my pink tutu will surely be a delightful contrast to all the red, gold, and navy.

Ballet Bonanza at Covent Garden

I'm definitely squeezing in a visit to Covent Garden, a historical area brimming with charm and artistry, plus some lovely shopping, which is always a good thing. I hear there's a lovely dance studio tucked away in there, and I’m planning to have a twirl and chat with the locals. If they let me, I’ll even give a tutu-wearing, pink-powered masterclass! Maybe!

Evening Encore: Theatreland!

This evening, I am heading to the theatre district. Nothing gets me going like a dramatic stage show. And tonight? The Royal Opera House is my destination.

I am very excited because it’s showing Swan Lake. Ballet has a special place in my heart. Seeing Swan Lake live on stage - the costumes, the dancing, the whole shebang - is going to be pure bliss! This will truly be the icing on the cake of my perfect day in London. I plan on sporting my sparkly pink tutu for the occasion and maybe adding a feather boa. Can you tell I'm absolutely ready to enjoy the spectacle of live performance? I know it’ll be dazzling!

Beyond the Tutu:

Now, I know what you are thinking: a day dedicated to ballet, theatre, and a healthy dose of pink, it sounds dreamy. But let me be honest. London, and my London day, isn't just about twirls, tiaras, and tiaras. I love the city's buzzing energy. I'm definitely going to check out the street performers in Covent Garden. They’ve always got something entertaining going on. I love the fact that London is a mix of traditional and contemporary. And speaking of contemporary, I'll definitely be on the lookout for London's newest vintage boutiques. They are always the perfect place to discover the next gorgeous fashion trend. Who knows? Maybe a new pink tutu will end up in my bag!

Pink Tutus Everywhere

As always, my dear Tutu Tribe, remember that my life's ambition is to get everyone wearing a pink tutu! After all, what is more fun and empowering than wearing something so eye-catching, so joyful, and so you? It is the perfect combination of femininity, playfulness, and just a hint of a mischievous sparkle! So, go on, spread the tutu love! And tag me in your tutu photos! You know how I love seeing your fantastic style choices.

A Few Additional Thoughts…

I just couldn't let you all go without sharing a little something more about my amazing experience in London this past Friday!

Firstly, the Buckingham Palace gates truly did not disappoint. I even managed to score a perfect picture with the guard. And, in true Tutu Tribe fashion, my pink tutu became quite a conversational piece, sparking so much curiosity about my passion for the ballet!

Covent Garden was an absolute delight! I managed to fit in a quick pirouette lesson at the Covent Garden dance studio (it turns out my instructor was a professional who taught at the Royal Ballet School!), and of course I found the most incredible pink feather boa. The perfect accessory, right?!

Finally, Swan Lake at the Royal Opera House! Oh my goodness. The dancers were exquisite! Every move was like a perfect bloom of grace, and their costumes were dazzling, glittering, and breathtakingly beautiful. The final pas de deux left me speechless, truly a masterpiece. You can bet your top hat I wore my sparkling pink tutu with my new pink feather boa and a pair of sparkly silver ballet flats! The people around me even commented how beautifully it matched the lighting at the Royal Opera House - another great win for my Tutu Tribe!

London, you truly were a fairytale come true. Thank you for showing me the power of beauty, creativity, and of course, the incredible allure of a good old pink tutu. Until next time!

xx,

Emma
