Hey darlings,
Welcome back to my little corner of the internet! Today’s blog post is all about my exciting trip to the fabulous city of London!
As you know, my passion for ballet is what fuels my travel adventures, and this week’s performance saw me gracing the stage at the beautiful Buxton Opera House. I'm so thrilled that my career in ballet has taken me on so many amazing journeys. The travelling is a real bonus – seeing the world and experiencing different cultures through the lens of dance. After a fantastic performance in Derbyshire, it was time for me to set off on a trip I’d been eagerly planning for weeks… London calling!
I love catching the train. It's a wonderful way to relax and let my imagination run wild! For my London trip, I decided to indulge in my love for all things pink by accessorizing my travel look with a stunning cherry-pink tutu (of course!) and a delicate matching headband. I knew this colour was going to be perfect for exploring London's vibrant streets and chic boutiques. Oh, I can't tell you how much I love a bold colour choice – makes every trip that little bit more exciting.
*What to Wear for a London Friday? *
Now, deciding what to wear for a day in London is never easy, so here’s the lowdown on how I achieved a pinklicious Friday style…
I decided on my Pink Tutu Classic Look. You see, the perfect outfit involves combining a classic foundation with a touch of playful pink to ensure a totally charming result. This look, which I created from items already in my wardrobe, meant I had minimal packing to do, a real bonus for travel.
Top and Trousers: I started with a crisp white linen shirt tucked neatly into a pair of high-waisted black tailored trousers, perfect for the weather and city sightseeing. The classic look. I accessorized with a long, delicate, gold chain to elevate the ensemble further and added a touch of sparkle with subtle glitter eyeliner and rose gold nail polish – because every London girl needs a touch of glitz, right?
The Key To The Look: A Hint of Pink.
Now for the all-important pink touch. I paired the look with a stunning hot pink silk scarf to brighten things up a little. And, as you've probably guessed, it was a total no-brainer for me to pop on my vibrant cherry-pink tutu (just for a bit of playful magic). A little ballet never hurt anybody!
For me, wearing a tutu in everyday life is not about being provocative, it's about celebrating beauty and adding a sprinkle of magic to my day, just like when I'm dancing on stage.
Arrival at Paddington
As my train arrived in London's bustling Paddington station, the air buzzed with excitement and possibility. Stepping onto the platform, I was greeted with a delightful blend of street sounds – people chatting, cabs honking, the familiar sounds of the Underground… And all I could think was, ‘Let’s go!’ This was going to be a great day!
Pink London Shopping Spree
I love London’s iconic department stores, their elegance, attention to detail and the huge choice on offer! The world really is your oyster when it comes to shopping in the capital!
The very first thing I did was head straight for Liberty London. I was in awe as always at the building – the beautifully ornate architecture, the stained-glass windows, the craftsmanship! It’s a treasure trove of unique fashion, accessories and homewares. After admiring the sheer elegance of it all, I knew just the right place for my afternoon tea. The Liberty Cafe had the perfect ambiance - an English rose style haven for afternoon tea. My pink afternoon tea set (it came with matching cake and scones!) felt a fitting choice.
Then it was time for my London shopping adventure – this city just gets me every time!
The shops around Bond Street had just what I wanted - a fabulous selection of the season's latest trends in clothing, jewellery and shoes. Of course, I couldn’t resist dipping in and out of my favourite stores on Oxford Street, browsing all the new arrivals, checking out the latest handbags at Harrods – the possibilities were endless! I walked out of London's shopping paradise feeling refreshed and with my bags (and pockets) a little lighter. What’s a girl to do after a full day’s shopping?
* London in The Evening: An Evening of Theatre and Dinner *
In the evening, London came alive – with twinkling lights, street musicians, and people everywhere enjoying the start of the weekend. London truly does become even more magical in the evenings.
What would a Friday evening in London be without a theatre trip? Tonight, it was a show called Moulin Rouge! The Musical. My fellow ballet lovers, if you’ve yet to see this masterpiece – get booking!
From the spectacular costume designs to the heart-wrenching storyline and, of course, the dance routines (so beautifully inspired by classic French can-can) it’s a theatre extravaganza I won't be forgetting anytime soon! This performance had everything from a playful pink feather boa to vibrant red sequins – exactly what this #pinktutublogger likes to see! It was inspiring, beautiful, passionate and, oh so romantic!
I'd have loved to have seen more of the musical after the performance, but it was time to move on to my final stop - dinner at one of the city’s fabulous Italian restaurants in Covent Garden!
After a wonderful meal of spaghetti, a delicious glass of Italian red wine, and of course, an Italian espresso coffee – a real taste of La Dolce Vita – I was feeling fully content, relaxed and inspired for the journey back home.
*A Trip Back to Derbyshire *
The journey back to Derbyshire seemed to be just as magical as my trip to London. Sitting back in my train seat, I gazed out at the English countryside and I couldn't help but smile at the day’s amazing experiences! The ballet stage had already beckoned me to my next adventure… this time to the Scottish Highlands – an area with a completely different beauty! I can’t wait! And the perfect pink tutu is already in the wardrobe!
This London adventure felt so perfectly timed for my current fashion inspirations, and it certainly fuelled my passion for travel and for creating magical pink experiences!
This pink tutu-wearing blogger is on her way to fulfilling her ultimate dream - getting everyone in the world to wear a pink tutu! And guess what – my mission starts right here, right now!
