Pink Tutu Blog London #1582: Christmas Day Adventures in the Big Smoke! ??

Hey gorgeous,

Happy Christmas Day from the Pink Tutu Blogger, right here in the heart of London! Can you believe it? Christmas Day in London. This is what dreams are made of! Today's going to be full of sparkling festive lights, magical Christmas decorations, and a whole load of Christmas shopping, which is actually the reason I’m here, as I’ve already finished all my shopping – what can I say? I just couldn’t resist an excuse to wear my new sparkly pink tutu and a fab Christmas jumper that says "Ballerina Elf" on the front (gotta keep that Christmas spirit going!).

From Derbyshire to London – a Magical Train Journey

I’ve got to tell you, the journey up from Derbyshire on the train was amazing! The landscape transformed from rolling hills to cityscapes. The carriages were all decked out with festive garlands, twinkling fairy lights, and even carolers wandering through the aisles, singing beautifully, and getting everyone into the Christmas spirit. I just adore that magic, especially at this time of year, the air felt all Christmassy.

London Wonderland!

And then, there it was – London! Majestic and sparkly, with Christmas lights strung from every street corner. The moment I stepped off the train and inhaled that crisp London air, it felt like a new adventure was just about to begin!

Christmas Shopping for My Dream Tutu

Right, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty! First stop, the glorious Covent Garden! I just had to visit Liberty’s – the epitome of luxury, a bit of Victorian whimsy mixed with gorgeous clothes and accessories. They’ve got a real treat for every princess at heart! Imagine: a stunning pink tutu for a fancy dress ball! A beautiful tulle and silk combination with hand-sewn flowers that would make me a Christmas fairy. The price was eye-watering, but my tutu dream can’t be deterred, so I decided to treat myself to some gorgeous tights instead!

Seeing Christmas Lights in all Their Glory

Speaking of dazzling, my second stop had to be the Carnaby Street Christmas Lights! Wow! They’ve got these lights that transform the street into a festive dreamscape – think sparkling ribbons and dazzling starbursts in a kaleidoscope of colours! You need to see them! I was in my pink tutu and sparkly tights, a vision of festive glee, just soaking up the magical Christmas atmosphere. I mean, who doesn’t love a bit of festive glitter and sparkle? The whole place buzzed with energy, a mix of tourists and locals, families and friends, everyone just enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and catching up over hot chocolates and mince pies. It truly felt like Christmas had arrived!

Christmas Day Theatre Trip

After my shopping adventure, it was time for some culture. This Christmas Day, I wanted something truly special! It had to be festive, beautiful and spectacular. So, it was off to the Royal Opera House! This stunning building just makes me want to twirl! Inside, they had a Christmas ballet - "The Nutcracker!" (a ballet I’ve loved ever since I was a little girl), and this year’s performance had the most dazzling costumes. I had to keep pinching myself – the stage was just breathtaking, filled with dancing sugar plum fairies and gingerbread soldiers in sparkling outfits. They also had a beautiful snow scene - just magical. And I must say, after all those amazing performances, a lovely cuppa tea at the Royal Opera House was exactly what I needed!

London Delights and My Must-Try Treats

After the show, I was hungry – don’t we all feel like this on Christmas Day? We stopped for some fish and chips (always a classic) in the bustling South Bank. A bit of London life, the aroma of salt and vinegar mingling with Christmas smells - now that's my kind of festive feeling. The food was incredible.

For a little bit of “Pink Tutu Christmas indulgence”, I stopped by one of the cute cafes on my way back to the station for a mince pie. That combination of warming cinnamon, sweet fruit filling and a crust that melts in your mouth – just perfect! It truly was a little Christmas Day delight.

More than Just the Glittering Lights

I have to tell you, I absolutely love spending Christmas Day in London. It’s just a magical blend of twinkling lights, dazzling theatre productions, delicious treats, and the contagious energy of a city brimming with festive spirit! London is truly a city of dreams, especially around Christmas.

So, my loves, don't forget to twirl! Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year from the Pink Tutu Blogger, currently living my dream Christmas in London! I’m going to leave you now – as it’s time to slip into my festive attire and plan my journey home.

And hey! Keep watching this space next week for more London adventures!

Lots of twirling love,

Emma xxx

P.S. Did I forget to mention my dream London Ballet class? I took one of their advanced classes this morning. Oh my goodness, so challenging! And so incredibly empowering! It just proves you can always push your boundaries and learn something new, even in London! The instructors were brilliant and everyone was so welcoming. I just can’t wait to go again!
