Oh hello my darling tutu-tastic readers! Emma here, back from another magical adventure! This time, I'm straight from the vibrant streets of London, buzzing with excitement after a whirlwind Friday exploring its captivating corners. You know how I adore hopping on the train (it’s such a fabulously efficient way to travel!), and this week I made the journey from my Derbyshire home to London, just bursting with inspiration. After all, the city that never sleeps is the perfect setting to spark creativity, find fabulous fashion, and experience the thrill of a good show!
As I said, London has an electricity in the air that just pulls you in! There’s something magical about its old architecture contrasting with its sleek modern design, and every little corner feels brimming with character. I know some might find London overwhelming, but for me, it’s like a wonderland of colour and noise, with the aroma of fresh pastries and sizzling sausages on the street. It's intoxicating in the most lovely way!
I arrived bright and early, and my trusty pink tutu twirled with excitement as I planned my day. After all, it’s impossible to visit London without experiencing some of its renowned theatre productions. Today, the iconic Shakespeare's Globe was calling my name, and with a flurry of anticipation, I bought my ticket to see a matinée performance. It was a dazzling production, full of drama, romance, and just enough humor to keep my toes tapping. After a light but delicious lunch of fish and chips, I walked off the theatrical magic and towards Covent Garden – the hub for fashion and flair!
The Royal Opera House, a stunning building that radiates both elegance and history, stands proudly within Covent Garden, drawing you in with its sheer presence. Even the exterior itself feels magical! A vibrant and eclectic market is woven through this vibrant neighbourhood, bursting with quirky stalls overflowing with unique crafts, beautiful flowers, and tantalising food. The smells of street food, the colourful blooms, the sounds of buskers, the laughter and conversations… oh my, this place has an enchanting energy all of its own!
You'll never be surprised to hear that I couldn’t leave without popping into some of Covent Garden’s boutiques. Oh, the joy! A new dress, some stylish accessories – London is certainly good to my fashion soul! I was drawn into a beautiful shop showcasing the work of emerging designers, and their stunning pink silk dress nearly sent me into a spin! Luckily, I resisted buying anything quite yet… though, I may return for it later. Who knows?!
Later that day, after indulging in an afternoon tea with the finest scones and pastries, I decided to visit one of the many ballet studios London is famous for. There's something about London that inspires movement, and a good ballet class always puts a little extra spring in my step! This particular studio was beautifully spacious and inviting, the sunlight filtering through the windows and highlighting the gleaming hardwood floor. The class was filled with women of all ages, and I must admit, feeling a bit out of my depth (but in the most positive way!) – but with a supportive teacher and such a welcoming energy, I really enjoyed the workout!
You know I'm passionate about spreading the pink tutu love, and as I stood proudly wearing mine after class, I caught myself smiling at every person I passed. It's all about bringing a bit of joy to your day, reminding ourselves that it's OK to be different, and embrace whatever makes us feel fabulous! If that means a fluffy pink tutu, so be it!
Speaking of spreading joy… have you seen the exhibition that has taken the city by storm, “A Thousand Tutu Dreams” at the Victoria and Albert Museum? They have brought together over a thousand tutus from different cultures and eras, showing how this iconic piece has been transformed and redefined over the years. And what is a ballerina’s favourite tutu? A “Tutu Much”! I promise that one is going to get you giggling. The sheer diversity of materials and designs is captivating – even the history and the craftsmanship of this humble, yet extraordinary piece is remarkable!

- Street Performance: The best way to capture London’s beating heart is by exploring its lively streets! You can’t miss the impressive array of street performers that captivate and entertain across the city. It truly feels like a travelling carnival of delights. The music, the creativity, the passion… truly amazing!
