Pink Tutu Milan: Post Number 11 - A Week of Ballet and Bubbles in Milano!

Buongiorno, darlings! It's Emma from the Pink Tutu, back with another juicy week from sunny Milano. The weather has been simply divine, and the city is bustling with energy - it’s like a perfectly executed fouetté, spinning with life and vibrance!

From Derbyshire to Milano, All Aboard!

As usual, I had to travel by train, my favourite mode of transport. There’s something magical about chugging through the countryside, a whimsical symphony of green fields and winding tracks. I must say, the Italian trains are quite grand - all mahogany panelling and plush seating. It was almost like being transported back to a bygone era, complete with a handsome conductor who had the most dashing moustache I’ve ever seen! (Did I mention I’m partial to a little Italian charm? wink)

My pink tutu, of course, accompanied me on the journey. Nothing makes a train carriage feel more exciting than a dash of pink! A gentleman even stopped to compliment my twirling skills when I did a little impromptu pirouette in the aisle, just to liven things up. Turns out, he was a dancer himself! We chatted about our favourite ballet companies and, guess what? He was familiar with my little website. Apparently, there's quite a following for Pink Tutu in Milan!

A Peek into La Scala

Speaking of ballet, Milan is home to one of the most famous opera houses in the world, the Teatro alla Scala, and I had a rare opportunity to have a peek behind the curtains this week. Let me tell you, darlings, the inside is breathtaking! It’s a palace of red velvet and gold leaf, glittering chandeliers and plush seating. The history that these walls have witnessed is simply astounding.

The highlight was seeing the rehearsals for “Swan Lake,” which opens this coming Saturday. Seeing the dancers move with such grace and power, transforming effortlessly from the innocence of the white swans to the haunting intensity of the black swans, was utterly mesmerising. It left me yearning to join them on stage. But alas, my own career is a little different. I perform to pay for my adventures, but it’s never a compromise because my true passion is dancing.

A Tutu Shopping Spree!

Of course, I couldn’t possibly come to Milan and not indulge in some retail therapy, so a little shopping was most definitely on the agenda. The boutiques here are something else, full of beautiful fabrics and exquisite details. I even stumbled upon a little hidden gem tucked away on a side street - a vintage boutique with an absolute treasure trove of silk tutus.

Imagine, darling, vintage tutus! One of them, made of pure silk in a dusty rose shade, whispered to me from the shelf. It was love at first sight! The silky layers just felt heavenly, and I knew it would be perfect for my next photoshoot. It felt like an embodiment of grace and nostalgia, like stepping back in time to a vintage ballet performance. I snagged it immediately, a beautiful reminder of my trip to Milan.

An Evening of Elegance and Enchantment

My week wouldn’t have been complete without a trip to see a show, of course. I had the pleasure of attending a magical performance of "Giselle" at the Teatro degli Arcimboldi. I fell in love with the tragic story, the passion and vulnerability in the dance, the stunning costumes.

But honestly, it was the little touches that really sealed the deal for me. I discovered a quaint little tea shop close to the theatre, filled with the aroma of bergamot and cinnamon. They had the most decadent selection of pastries - flaky croissants, airy macarons, and a delicious slice of cherry cake that tasted like summer itself. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful evening.

Embrace the Pink, Embrace Yourself

Milan is a city that truly knows how to appreciate the finer things in life, whether it’s the artistry of a grand opera house, the craftsmanship of a silk tutu, or the simple joy of a well-made pastry.

As always, the most wonderful part of my trip is connecting with people. Meeting a ballet-loving conductor on the train, chatting with shop owners about their passion, experiencing the vibrant energy of the theatre. It’s a reminder that beauty and art connect us all, and there's a magic in sharing that passion.

So, remember, darling, life is a beautiful ballet. And just like a pink tutu, it can bring a touch of sparkle and whimsy to even the most mundane days. Don’t be afraid to embrace your unique style and bring a touch of your personal magic into the world.

Until next Monday, darling!

Stay glamorous!

Emma
