#PinkTutuMilan - Post #22: Milano, Darling! (November 8th, 1995)

Buongiorno, darlings! It's Emma here, reporting live from the utterly fabulous city of Milan. As you know, I'm all about spreading the pink tutu gospel, and let me tell you, this city is practically begging for a little tutu love.

It's been a whirlwind week, packed with the most glorious things imaginable! From hopping on trams (which, by the way, are just delightful) to waltzing around the fashion district, I've been living my best life. It wouldn't be a proper #PinkTutuMilan post without a little peek into my day-to-day life, so come on, join me!

A Parisian Touch in Milan

We kicked off the week with a divine performance at the Teatro alla Scala. Now, darlings, if you haven't experienced this legendary opera house, put it on your bucket list right away. It's simply magnificent - all plush velvet seats, dazzling chandeliers, and an aura of history that just takes your breath away. We performed excerpts from "Swan Lake", which, as always, transported everyone to a world of elegant swans and romantic dreams.

I was thrilled to wear a new pink tutu for this show, one with sparkling crystals that caught the light like magic. It was the perfect outfit for the elegance and drama of "Swan Lake," and even more importantly, it made me feel utterly fabulous. My heart soared with every pirouette.

After the performance, we had a little soirée in a quaint café tucked away in a charming cobblestone street. I indulged in a delectable latte macchiato while catching up with my fellow ballerinas. It was the perfect way to unwind after a demanding yet delightful evening.

A Day of Milanese Delights

Wednesday morning started with a delicious Italian breakfast - coffee, pastries, and, of course, a touch of pink. My friend, Sophia, has a wonderfully chic apartment overlooking the Piazza del Duomo, and the sunrise illuminating the Duomo was simply breathtaking. You can't come to Milan without marvelling at this architectural masterpiece.

After a quick stretch in my pink ballet tights (which are absolutely essential for a ballerina on the go), we spent the day exploring the fashion district. This is truly a wonderland of style! Every shop window seemed to burst with vibrant colours, textures, and daring designs. I felt like a character stepping out of a glamorous fashion magazine, twirling between boutiques and marvelling at the intricate window displays.

Sophia and I got to indulge in a little retail therapy too. I bought a beautiful pair of ballet flats in the softest shade of pink (naturally!), while Sophia snagged a chic pair of knee-high boots that perfectly complemented her outfit. This shopping spree wasn't just about fashion, though; it was also a chance to admire the craftsmanship and creativity that goes into Milan's fashion industry. Every piece we saw felt like a work of art.

The Tram to Treasure

For dinner, we went to this little trattoria tucked away near the Castello Sforzesco. I was absolutely delighted with a heaping plate of pasta al pesto, washed down with a glass of refreshing red wine. After dinner, we boarded a charming tram (I swear, the tram system in Milan is a love story in itself!) to enjoy the sights of the city. We rode past illuminated buildings, charming cafes buzzing with chatter, and street performers sharing their talents with the world. It was the most enchanting end to a delightful day.

Milan in the Night

Thursday night saw a special treat for my love of ballet. There was a street ballet performance at the Piazza della Scala, the kind that takes your breath away. It was an entirely free, open-air performance under the twinkling night sky, and the passion of the dancers was infectious. I was captivated by the grace, the emotion, the sheer energy pouring from each dancer. It's one of those memories that you just hold onto forever, the perfect blend of art, passion, and city life.

It truly felt magical, almost as though the entire city had come alive for this special occasion. I danced along with them, and my little pink tutu spun under the soft moonlight. The beauty of ballet has a way of making everyone feel a little bit magic, especially under a Milanese night sky.

Food for the Soul

Of course, a girl's gotta eat! On Friday, we headed for a traditional Milanese lunch at a cozy trattoria near the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the opulent shopping mall built back in 1867. We shared a plate of Milanese risotto and risotto alla Milanese (don't worry, I made sure it was completely vegetarian!), and a glass of sparkling white wine to make it a proper celebratory feast. The food was divine and the conversation flowed as easily as the wine, with us sharing tales of past performances, future plans, and the allure of our favourite pink tutus.

Travel, Inspiration, and the Power of Pink

Life is such a beautiful adventure when you embrace it with a splash of pink. That's my motto, darlings. Each week brings new challenges and new discoveries. Travelling to these wonderful cities, sharing my love of ballet, and spreading the message of the pink tutu…it's a life filled with joy and magic. And trust me, it doesn't have to cost a fortune. My ballet performances help me finance these travels, which is another way I strive to show how everyone can achieve their dreams!

As I'm sitting here at the end of this week in Milan, my head still brimming with images and memories of the past few days, I can't help but feel utterly grateful for this wonderful life. Being able to share my adventures with all of you, my fellow pink tutu enthusiasts, is an absolute joy.

So, until next Monday, darlings, remember: embrace the beauty around you, be bold and let your inner ballerina shine. Wear that pink tutu with pride, let your heart lead you, and most importantly… keep on twirling!

Until next week, Emma xx
