Buongiorno, darlings! ☀️ It’s Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, bringing you the latest from the fabulous fashion capital of the world – Milan! I’m currently sipping a cappuccino (with extra sugar, of course!) in a charming cafe near the Duomo, and let me tell you, this city is buzzing with excitement.
Last week was a whirlwind of activity. I was back in Derbyshire, where I dazzled the crowd with my newest pink tutu creation at a charity performance for the local children's hospital. It was a delight to share my passion with my home crowd and raise some funds for a wonderful cause. Speaking of passion, I just finished a magnificent performance of "Giselle" at the Teatro alla Scala last night! The beauty of the set, the power of the choreography, the emotional range of the dancers – it left me breathless. I do love the grace and strength of ballet!
This week, however, I'm in Milan, soaking up the city’s unique energy and getting ready for some thrilling adventures.
A Bit of a Back Story: This Week in Milan
I must tell you, my love affair with Milan is as fiery as a cappuccino foam. It’s a city that whispers secrets in the soft rustle of silk scarves, a place where creativity thrives on cobblestone streets, and where elegance meets innovation at every corner. And it’s also a place that whispers about “Milan Fashion Week!” That’s right, this week is a very special one because Milan Fashion Week is taking over the city!
Oh, it’s truly a visual feast! Street style photographers stalk every corner, eager to capture the latest trends, models parade down the streets in dramatic, out-of-this-world outfits, and everyone, from fashion editors to designers, is buzzing with inspiration.
Fashion and Tutu Dreams
I’m going to confess, dear reader: my heart beats a little faster when I'm amidst the fashion chaos of Milan. The textures, the colours, the bold, the understated, and everything in-between – it all speaks to my tutu-loving soul.
So naturally, today, I'm diving headfirst into Milan's shopping havens, armed with a little notebook, a pen, and my trusty pink tutu! I want to find those quirky boutiques, hidden treasures, and of course, explore those big fashion houses!
But my dearest darlings, I’m not just going to shop for myself! I'm here to soak up every single bit of fashion inspiration and to translate it into something extraordinary. Don’t you worry, a special, “pink-tutu-ified” take on Milan Fashion Week trends will be coming your way very soon!
Beyond Fashion, Beauty, and Tutus
Milan is so much more than a fashion mecca. This city is full of history, culture, and beautiful architecture. I’m absolutely smitten with the intricate mosaic of the Duomo. My afternoon will be spent wandering the beautiful gardens of Villa Reale and delving into the magical art collection at Pinacoteca di Brera! I also have to experience the thrill of an Aperol Spritz, preferably in the sunshine while admiring the charming cobblestone streets!
Tram Travels
This week, my travels have included many, many journeys on the iconic yellow Milan trams. From exploring the beautiful Botanical Gardens and the Museo Poldi Pezzoli, to hopping off and sipping on that Aperol Spritz (it's truly an adventure!) , the tram rides always feel like a fashion show in motion, allowing me to catch glimpses of daily Milanese life – the businessmen, the young couples, the children all playing together.
And, my dear reader, don’t you fret - my beloved pink tutu is always at the ready for every journey! In fact, a bright, sunny pink tutu against the bright yellow backdrop of a Milan tram really brightens my day, even on rainy days. 😉
