Pink Tutu Milan: Ciao Bella, It's Wednesday 1996-05-22!

Hello my dearest pink tutu followers, it's Emma here, live from sunny Milan, Italy! It's Wednesday, 22nd May 1996 and as always, the sun is shining (although my hairdresser, a dear friend from Derbyshire who moved to Milan to work with the opera, keeps saying it's "fake sunshine").

I can't believe it's been over a year since I started writing this blog! My journey through the world of dance and fashion, all while embracing the beauty of pink tutus, has been a wild ride, but honestly, the absolute best kind. Thank you for joining me on this adventure!

Speaking of adventures, I'm thrilled to share my latest Milan escapade. You guys know I adore exploring this city – a truly captivating blend of old-world charm and contemporary glamour. Today, my day began with a beautiful breakfast of cappuccinos and brioche at a tiny cafe near my hotel, overlooking the Duomo. The warm Italian air, the taste of buttery brioche, the sun glinting on the cathedral… just pure magic.

And to think, this morning I was still in my gorgeous pink tutu (naturally), feeling like a ballerina princess while I savoured every last drop of my coffee. Yes, I know, some might call me a little bit… extra. But I truly believe life is best enjoyed with a dash of whimsy!

But now, it’s time for my adventure into the world of Milanese fashion! A girl’s gotta find some new outfit additions for her upcoming performances, right? I mean, every ballerina needs a healthy dose of sparkly attire and gorgeous fabrics. I'm especially keen on finding some beautiful pink silk – it just sings for me. I have this wonderful dream of finding a blush pink dress for my next ballet recital. Just picture it: soft silk flowing gracefully around me, the sunlight catching the folds, the gentle swaying of my tulle tutu as I dance…. Swoon!

Speaking of which, the biggest event of my week happens tomorrow. The Teatro alla Scala is showcasing an adaptation of Giselle! The romance, the sorrow, the power of true love… it's all there! Oh, I can already hear the strings of the orchestra, feel the intensity of the story, and witness the incredible talent of the dancers. You can bet I'll be sporting my favourite pink tutu, topped off with a stylish, pink and white flower crown – gotta look the part!

But first, lunch! I’m having a craving for a piadina, a delightful Italian flatbread, and some delectable prosecco. Maybe I’ll grab a seat at a cute little cafe overlooking a fountain. Imagine, soothing water sounds as I admire the stunning Milan architecture, perhaps while sketching some ballerina designs!

I swear, my head’s just bursting with ideas. I'm particularly inspired by Milan’s amazing architecture – all these gothic details, high arches and ornate sculptures – perfect for creating new designs for my tutus. Perhaps a tutu with a touch of Romanesque architecture… a touch of grandeur, a hint of medieval mystery. Maybe it's time to break out the beads and create a sparkling new tutu with pearls and Swarovski crystals inspired by the Duomo. The possibilities are endless!

Oh, and another reason why Milan is so exciting? It’s the perfect place to learn new dance styles. This Saturday, I’m off to a ballet class for some ballet street. You see, ballet street is this fabulous new form where I get to dance outdoors! Think city squares, parks, historical landmarks, anywhere with a bit of space!

The joy of dancing outside, under the open sky, feeling the fresh breeze… It’s magic! Plus, it means I get to try out my new outfits in a completely different context – the ultimate dancefloor!

Don't forget to visit the www.pink-tutu.com website for even more photos of my time in Milan, updates on upcoming performances, and exclusive insights into my love for tutus, fashion and ballet! I’ve got so many more Milan stories to tell, but for now, I’ll leave you with one last thought:

Never be afraid to twirl your own way, wear your pink tutu proudly, and make every day a magical ballet!

Ciao for now!

Lots of love, Emma xx

P.S. Don’t forget to check back in next week for another dose of Milanese fun, fashion, and pink tutu magic!
