Pink Tutu Milan - #57: Bellissima Milano!

Ciao bellas!

It's your favourite Derbyshire girl, Emma, back from the glamorous city of Milan, ready to share my adventures with you! This week's post is bursting with sunshine, chic fashion, and enough pink tutus to make even the most hardened fashionista blush! (But honestly, who can resist a bit of pink? It's the colour of joy, don't you think?)

As always, I arrived in Milan on a vintage tram, the kind with that satisfying "clackety-clack" that just makes you feel like you're travelling back in time. It's an interesting contrast to the ultramodern architecture of Milan - you really do feel the heartbeat of this city, the way old and new mingle and create a beautiful chaos.

This time, I'm staying in a darling little B&B just off the Corso Buenos Aires, right in the heart of the shopping district! This means I'm within easy reach of all the fashion treasures I could dream of! Oh, and it has the most fabulous breakfast - fresh croissants, fluffy pastries, and real, thick Italian coffee! Heaven!

Speaking of heaven, Milan is also known for its stunning theatres and ballet houses, and this week I'm diving headfirst into the vibrant ballet scene. The schedule for this week is jam-packed:

Wednesday 10th July:

This Wednesday, I'm heading to the Teatro alla Scala to watch Swan Lake. Can you imagine? I can practically feel the thrill in the air already! I know the performance will be breathtaking - and I'm looking forward to witnessing the artistry of the dancers in such a magnificent setting. I might even wear my "special occasion" tutu - the one with the fluffy pink layers and the little diamanté bow - I just know it'll sparkle in the theatre's warm lighting!

I know I've been mentioning it, but this is a huge deal! Teatro alla Scala is, in my opinion, the most iconic opera house in Italy! Just stepping into its grandeur is an experience, and then, to see ballet in such a setting is a privilege. It’s all part of my mission to promote ballet for everyone. I want to see it reach every corner of the world, especially within fashion and beauty, the spaces it belongs in. It is art after all, right?

I might even pop into one of the many charming little boutiques nearby afterwards for a little souvenir hunt. Maybe a cute silk scarf or a gorgeous pair of gloves to complete my elegant look.

Milan by Train

Thursday 11th July:

Today is all about discovering new neighbourhoods by hopping on one of Milan's fantastic train lines. This is my favourite way to truly experience a city - I can't just go sightseeing; I have to live and breathe it! I’ve found the coolest vintage store where I’m hunting for an extra-long pink tutu for a new ballet-inspired outfit. And no, I’m not planning on shortening it at all - who would want to take away all that gorgeous pink tulle? Imagine the voluminous pink cloud that I'll be twirling through the city! I'll also try to sneak in a ballet class at one of the studios I’ve found nestled in Milan’s cobbled alleyways. The Italians seem to embrace everything that is stylish and dance and fashion go hand in hand here!

Friday 12th July

Time for more fashion adventure - Milan, of course, is famous for its world-renowned fashion houses! I'm a sucker for vintage, so today I’ll be diving into the Mercato di Porta Ticinese - Milan’s legendary vintage and antique market. Imagine finding treasures from decades ago! I've already envisioned the perfect dress that I'm going to pair with my pink tulle skirt.

Don't worry, though; my obsession with pink doesn't stop at the fashion. I also plan on enjoying one of the delicious pink cocktails in Milan's trendy bars, where I'm sure I'll find new outfit inspiration! It's all part of being a Pink Tutu Girl - blending elegance with a fun-loving zest for life.

Saturday 13th July

And what’s better than a day out shopping? Why a day spent at a ballet performance in the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! That’s right, I’m taking the train from Milan down to the capital of Italy for an exclusive glimpse into the incredible Roma ballet scene. I hear this opera house has its own very unique character. Can’t wait to share my experiences of this exquisite setting, but we can always chat about this more next Monday.

Sunday 14th July

Time to catch a glimpse of a bit more art, shall we? My first time at the Pinacoteca di Brera! I want to see the art scene as well as ballet - but, my mission with my pink tutu? That remains consistent wherever I go. We're not just about dancing - it’s about expressing ourselves!

It will be my last day here, but that doesn't mean the pink-tutu fun will end! There are countless opportunities to meet new people, connect with fellow art enthusiasts and show off my fabulous pink ensemble! You never know where I'll find my next dose of inspiration for Pink-Tutu fashion or my next dancing partner.

But what I’m trying to say, lovelies, is that whether it's ballet, shopping, or a pink cocktail - there’s never a dull moment in Milan. I have to go now as I've got another shopping list to tick off! Remember to check out all the pink tutu fun I have in store over at www.pink-tutu.com - that's my blog for all the dance fashion lovers out there. Until next week!

P.S: Make sure you check out the gallery - my new ballerina picture and lots of pics from the shopping streets are up now! Stay lovely, darling!

Ciao Bella! Emma xx
