Pink Tutu Milan: Week 72 - Ciao Bella!

Ciao, darling tutus! Welcome to the seventh instalment of my weekly Milan adventures, straight from the heart of this fabulous city!

It’s Emma, your favourite pink-loving ballerina, reporting live from the Italian fashion capital. As the weather starts to chill, the cobbled streets of Milan are abuzz with stylish souls strutting their stuff in chic coats and the most fabulous boots! And me? I’m living my best life in a Pink Tutu, of course!

This week has been a whirlwind of beautiful ballet, delicious Italian food, and a touch of fashionista mayhem!

Wednesday's Wanderings

The first day of the week always seems a little bit brighter in Milan. This morning, after a cheeky cappuccino and a croissant (they do croissants better here!), I took a trip on the tram to Duomo, the breathtaking cathedral in the heart of Milan. This week it's adorned with the most dazzling floral display, bursting with colours in perfect harmony.

From the top of the Duomo, I watched the hustle and bustle of the city. From the sleek sports cars zipping past to the elderly men playing a game of Bocce in the sun-drenched piazza. Life here moves at a pace I’ve never quite experienced. It’s both fast-paced and slow, and I love the gentle rhythm of it all!

Speaking of rhythm, my dear ballet classes have taken on a whole new energy in Milan! This week, I’ve been twirling through a whirlwind of Contemporary and Classical Ballet lessons, all within the majestic Teatro alla Scala. What a thrill! This is every ballerina’s dream come true!

Wednesday night saw me back in the Teatro alla Scala, this time, enjoying a beautiful production of La Bohème. Puccini's story was truly brought to life through breathtaking choreography and a talented cast. The stage was spectacular, all shimmering fabrics and exquisite costumes! The emotional finale, as the artists mourned Mimi, moved me to tears. Ballet really does speak to your soul in a way that words can't quite match.

Fashion, Food and More

Of course, no trip to Milan is complete without a healthy dose of fashion! On Thursday, I visited a delightful vintage shop tucked away in a charming, narrow street. I discovered the most beautiful pink dress, perfect for a romantic night out, or perhaps a Parisian stroll! Let's just say, a little something pink has found its way into my suitcase.

No trip is complete without good food, and oh my goodness, Milan is a true foodie haven. My favourite find? A delightful pastry shop near the bustling Porta Venezia. They make the most decadent almond pastries! I indulged, of course, because one cannot come to Italy and leave without a delicious treat or two.

And, in true Emma style, I couldn't resist a stop at the department store after. Rinascente is a truly enchanting place, an ode to all things fabulous and beautiful. The shop windows are art in themselves, showcasing the season's most stylish trends, and it’s just begging for a good ol’ photo opportunity, especially with a fabulous pink tutu!

Friday Feels

Friday arrived with a feeling of excited anticipation! You know, that feeling of knowing you have a great night planned. I headed back to the Teatro alla Scala to see another stunning production of Romeo and Juliet! The costumes were incredible, from Juliet's regal gown to the elegance of the Montague men. The scene at the balcony, with the beautiful starlit backdrop, was truly captivating. My heart melted when the passionate dancers locked eyes across the stage. Romeo and Juliet really are timeless, don’t you think?

Of course, after a captivating show, there is always a delicious, post-show treat. A delicious hot chocolate and a slice of the richest, gooiest chocolate cake I have ever had. Milan really knows how to indulge its sweet tooth.

As the sun dipped down on Milan this weekend, the city truly comes alive with its joie de vivre. Everywhere you go, you see laughter and chatter, as groups of friends gather in bustling restaurants, while couples stroll hand-in-hand. There is such a feeling of pure contentment.

And that, my dear readers, is what I have been soaking up these past few days. The city’s infectious energy, the joy of finding that perfect vintage treasure, the exquisite ballet that takes my breath away, and the wonderful warmth of the people here. All wrapped up with the most fabulous pink tutu of course!

And just before I finish, I’ve just realised! Today, October 23rd 1996 is my dear, dear Nana’s birthday, and what a wonderful life she has led. Sending her love, kisses and a big pink tutu hug!

Keep an eye on www.pink-tutu.com next Monday for my next adventure in Milan. I can't wait to share what's in store!

Stay radiant, beautiful and always twirl with a smile!

Love,

Emma

P.S. Don't forget to share your own ballet stories, or pink tutu experiences! And remember, every day is a new opportunity to wear a pink tutu, so why not do it with style?!
