Pink Tutu Milan: Post 165 - August 5th, 1998 - A Dance Through the Duomo 🩰🇮🇹

Ciao bella!

This week, my Pink Tutu adventures take me to the heart of Milan, Italy, a city pulsing with style, culture, and, of course, fabulous fashion! And trust me, you won't believe the incredible outfits I've spotted!

I've been in Milan for a few days now, and it's already been an absolute whirlwind. You wouldn't believe the amazing food, the architecture, the art - oh, and the shopping, don't get me started! I'm absolutely besotted with this city. It feels like a place that just gets me, you know?

A Ballerina's Paradise

I arrived on Tuesday morning, taking a picturesque train journey through the rolling green countryside, a total contrast to the vibrant cityscape that awaited me. After checking into my little boutique hotel near the Duomo (you can't miss it, darling, it's literally next door to the largest cathedral in Italy!), I popped on my most fabulous pink tutu (it's a twirly number, of course, with a little sequined detail, perfect for catching the Italian sunshine) and set out to explore.

I'm not sure what it is about Milan, but there's just a special energy in the air. It feels like the whole city is swaying to a delicate ballet score. The streets are alive with the rhythm of chattering tourists and locals rushing by. The elegant women on the street look so effortlessly chic in their flowing silk scarves and perfectly-cut coats - just like dancers poised in their elegant costumes!

Fashion & Tutu Therapy

On Tuesday afternoon, I treated myself to some "tutu therapy" at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Oh my! If you ever find yourself in Milan, this is a must-see. It's like stepping into a fairytale palace of fashion. Imagine a stunning glass-covered shopping arcade bursting with incredible designers, cafes buzzing with activity, and a glorious sense of opulence and style all around.

You won't believe the outfits! I saw women sporting beautiful tailored dresses, luxurious leather jackets, and incredible hats. Even the men looked like they'd stepped out of a fashion magazine - sharp suits, perfectly co-ordinated scarves, the whole shebang! And let me tell you, my pink tutu absolutely fitted right in! It seems everyone loves a bit of whimsy in Milan!

Dinner in Style

As dusk painted the sky in a riot of colours, I enjoyed a delightful dinner at a charming trattoria, surrounded by locals who greeted me with warm smiles. The food was divine, the wine divine, the atmosphere just divine! You really feel like you're in the heart of Italian culture when you're in a place like this, tucked away on a quiet street, far from the tourist hustle and bustle. I sampled a creamy Risotto Milanese - simply heavenly!

Taking to the Tram

To be honest, you haven't truly experienced Milan until you've taken a ride on their trams! These magnificent, vintage beauties are so much fun - especially with a good view and a fabulous pink tutu, of course! It was quite a sight seeing everyone stare as the tram rolled along the city streets. It reminded me of one of those old Italian films - I felt like a true star, the princess of Milan, riding in my own carriage!

A Breathtaking Opera

On Wednesday evening, I indulged in a delightful cultural experience, a night at the iconic Teatro alla Scala. I mean, who could possibly resist? The architecture, oh my, it took my breath away. It’s truly the grandest opera house I’ve ever seen.

And the opera, “La Traviata”, was incredible. It had everything - soaring melodies, passionate emotions, costumes that could rival any ballerina’s dream! The voices were angelic, the orchestra captivating. I just wanted to twirl, pirouette, and let it all flow.

After the opera, I hopped onto a tram - a real tram fanatic, aren't I? - back to my little hotel. As I settled in, I was filled with a sense of joy, a sense of true Milanese magic. It was one of those evenings that would forever be etched in my memory, and that's truly the essence of travel for me - to discover and explore those moments that make your heart sing.

Finding Beauty in Every Moment

This city has captured my heart, and it's clear that Milan is truly a city where anything is possible. From its grand architecture to its delicious cuisine, its bustling markets to its exquisite fashion houses, and even those captivating, stylish trams, I just adore every bit of this captivating city.

A Pink Tutu Challenge

You know I love a good challenge, don't you? This week, I'm setting myself a little mission, a challenge for all of you - wear a pink tutu! Go on, embrace your inner ballerina! Show the world your love for fun, for life, for pink! Even if it's just a twirl in your living room, let your pink tutu be a symbol of your own inner joy!

Until next week, when I'll be sharing my exciting visit to the Milan Fashion Week, sending you all lots of love and pink-tutu kisses from a vibrant Milan.

Arrivederci!

P.S Did I mention I spotted a stunning vintage Chanel handbag, a limited edition Valentino bag, and the most gorgeous red shoes? Let’s just say this city is spoiling me with the most fabulous finds! And guess what? I even found a pair of stunning ballet slippers in a shop in the city center - I can’t wait to slip them on!

P.P.S A huge shout out to my fellow ballet lovers out there. Don't forget, if you're ever in Milan, do visit the Teatro alla Scala, an absolutely spectacular landmark, steeped in history and a true cultural gem. I'll be checking it out once more before I depart for my next Pink Tutu adventure!
