Pink Tutu Milan - Post #194: From Derbyshire to Dolce Vita!

Ciao bellas! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, bringing you a fresh post from the magical city of Milan! This week, it’s all about embracing the vibrant energy of this fashion capital and discovering what makes it tick.

As you know, I’m a firm believer in following your dreams. And my biggest one, you know it already - spreading the joy of the pink tutu! Let's be real, who wouldn't want a world full of twirling, smiling, and beautiful, rosy pink tulle? But hey, one tutu at a time, right? 😉

So here I am, all the way from Derbyshire, England, in this bustling city. I travelled overnight, taking a sleeper train from the Channel Tunnel, to make the most of every minute here. Now, I don’t know about you, but I find something deeply romantic about taking the train to a new city. There’s just something about the anticipation, the gentle rhythmic sway, and the delicious aroma of croissants from the café car that always fills me with excitement! And of course, it wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu journey without my trusty, bright pink duffle bag, packed with a kaleidoscope of pink tutus, ready to sprinkle a little magic wherever I go!

Today, my darlings, Milan’s charm has utterly captivated me. The warm sunshine has brought out the vibrancy of the city, and there’s this lovely buzzing energy in the air, like everyone's ready for something special to happen. And I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Now, I know you're dying to hear all about my Milan adventure! Let me take you on a whirlwind tour of my last 24 hours.

Morning Bliss: Milanese Breakfast

After arriving at Milano Centrale Station, I took a short, picturesque tram ride to my little bolthole for the week, a boutique hotel with a stunning rooftop terrace. From the terrace, I had the best panoramic view of the Duomo, Milan's iconic cathedral. I must confess, I was a little peckish after my train journey. I can’t resist the pull of a cappuccino and a freshly baked brioche!

A Stroll through History

My first order of the day: the breathtaking Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Milan’s luxurious shopping arcade. It was truly a sight to behold. Think intricate glass ceilings, majestic arches, high-end boutiques lining each corner, and all under one magnificent roof. Oh, and you have to check out the mosaics on the floor. They're something else, and rumour has it, spinning around on the bull’s testicle mosaic brings good luck! You're all thinking it, right? You know, I’m pretty sure it worked for me – I already feel like a charmed ballerina!

Lunch at La Bottega del Vino

My stomach was starting to grumble again. Thankfully, a small restaurant just off the bustling streets had caught my eye - La Bottega del Vino. They’re famous for their pasta with white truffles! Talk about decadent! After the pasta, I indulged in a divine panna cotta, topped with raspberries, my ultimate Italian treat!

Culture, Culture, Everywhere!

To satisfy my cultural craving, I ventured to the Teatro alla Scala, Milan's prestigious opera house, known for its stunning architecture and world-renowned performances. The moment I stepped inside, I felt like I'd travelled back in time! The red velvet seats, the intricate gold carvings, the sense of grandeur in the air – it was a true feast for the senses. The acoustics were truly mesmerising. Oh, the tales those walls could tell!

Shopping on Corso Buenos Aires

No trip to Milan is complete without a serious shopping spree, so naturally, I had to hit Corso Buenos Aires, Milan's main shopping street! Now, I’ll be honest; the Milanese have impeccable style! It’s a real haven for designer clothes, shoes, bags, and every fashion accessory you can dream of. The sheer volume of boutiques is a little overwhelming, to be honest, but a welcome challenge for this pink-tutu enthusiast!

Finding the Perfect Pair

Let me tell you, my shopping trip was filled with pure delight! After hours of searching, I found my holy grail – a pair of chic, rose-gold pointed-toe flats, with delicate silver buckles! Now, I know, the perfect pink tutu needs a perfect footwear companion! The ballerina in me rejoiced at this beautiful discovery!

Dinner with a View

Dinner with a view, is there any other kind? Tonight, I chose a rooftop restaurant with views across Milan’s city skyline – sparkling with twinkling lights! While feasting on some exquisite seafood and a perfectly chilled prosecco, I watched the sun slowly descend, painting the sky in hues of pink, orange, and purple. It felt surreal, like I was living out one of my wildest ballerina dreams!

Pink Tutu Diaries

What a day, eh? This was just the beginning of my Milanese adventure. Tomorrow is full of promises – more shopping, a visit to a renowned dance studio, and maybe even a ballet show! The excitement is already bubbling over, and I'll be sure to share every dazzling detail with you.

But for now, it's time for me to slip into my most comfy sleepwear (yes, even in Italy I find comfort in my trusty pink cotton pajamas!) and get some well-deserved rest! After all, a well-rested ballerina can conquer any city!

Until next time, my darlings, stay fashionable, stay dreamy, and remember, always embrace the joy of a pink tutu! Don't forget to check in with www.pink-tutu.com next Monday for my latest adventures.

Arrivederci, bellezze!

xoxo Emma

Behind the Scenes:

What was going on in the world on this day?

  • It was a Wednesday! It’s hard to imagine now, but people once had time off for Wednesday!
  • The biggest story in the world today is about how there has been a huge rise in the price of coffee in Columbia, making the price of our morning coffee so expensive. (Can you imagine??)
  • A 22-year old man has broken a world record after standing in a pool of cold beer for a mind blowing 50 minutes. That would really test our ballerina technique!
  • The British TV programme 'The Weakest Link' has been axed for the final time! Well, perhaps it’s about time we had a rest from being called “dull”, “ignorant” and “pathetic”.

    Extra for you:

To make my weekly blog posts the best, I need your help. If there's something you want me to write about in my next blog from Milan, give me a shout on the comments page, I want to know what you’re most curious about! I’m always eager to create the perfect blog post to make you feel just as glamorous and happy as I do! Ciao for now!

And a reminder - don't forget to wear pink!
