Pink Tutu Milan: #199 - Milan, my darling!

Ciao bella!

It's Emma here, back from another whirlwind adventure, this time landing smack-bang in the heart of Milan, the fashion capital of the world. Now, you might be thinking, "Emma, you're a ballerina, what's Milan got to do with tutus?" Well, darling, you just haven't been paying attention! Milan is a haven for the theatrical, for art, for glamour and of course, for stunning costumes, tutus included! I mean, just the thought of stepping out onto the cobblestone streets in my tulle masterpiece makes my heart do a little pirouette!

Milan Fashion Week & A Ballerina's Dreams

This week has been pure magic. Not only am I surrounded by the latest fashion trends but Milan Fashion Week is happening. It's truly exhilarating seeing these haute couture pieces come to life on the runway! Each piece a little work of art, showcasing colour, form, and movement like nothing I've ever seen before. It's hard not to dream about getting my hands on these fabrics and maybe even inspiring my own dance pieces! Speaking of inspiration, you wouldn't believe the ballet performances I've seen this week. It's as if every corner of Milan whispers about graceful movements, poised jumps, and flowing fabrics.

Tram Travel & Ballet Inspiration

I spent most of the week travelling on the city's famous trams. A truly magical experience. Picture this: sunshine streaming through the window, casting a golden glow on the sleek red trams as we wind through narrow streets, each building a masterpiece of Italian architecture. Of course, no journey would be complete without me slipping on my trusty headphones and tapping my feet to a classic ballet soundtrack. The rhythm of the city, the rhythmic clicking of the wheels on the track, it's all just a dance!

The other day I took the tram to the Teatro alla Scala – talk about awe-inspiring. A building dripping with history, it felt like I was stepping into a fairytale! Every inch of the place breathes elegance. Inside, I caught the most breathtaking performance of "Giselle", a true classic. The dancers, with their incredible artistry, stole the show! It left me in tears, it truly did. They just poured their hearts and souls onto the stage. It reminded me, with a twirl of my own tulle, why I love this art form so much.

Pink Tutu Milan Style

Of course, what would a trip to Milan be without indulging in the shopping scene? I have to say, they understand style in this city. They've got this whole chic thing down to an art. I just know, my little Pink Tutu look must have caught the eyes of many Milanese shoppers. The perfect combination of playful pink and elegant tulle never fails to attract a second glance. After all, I don't think I've ever seen so many stunning shops showcasing the finest fashion – and of course, those divine tutus.

Milan's Unexpected Charms

One afternoon I was wandering through the city, a map clutched in my hand and a giant, pink bow peeking from my hair. You'll never guess where I ended up? Right in the heart of Porta Ticinese – a vibrant and bustling street market. Imagine rows and rows of artisan stalls bursting with delicious smells, homemade trinkets, beautiful fabrics, and... yes, you guessed it... gorgeous tulle! I found myself surrounded by so much life, so much colour and culture. The energy in the air was simply infectious. It's these little discoveries, these unexpected encounters, that truly make a city like Milan special.

Pink Tutu Inspiration

Speaking of discovery, I recently started experimenting with a new form of ballet: ballet street performances. It's a form of expression I'm so excited to learn more about. This week I spent an afternoon soaking up the art at the Porta Venezia Gardens. It was like watching a vibrant living, breathing tableau vivant, a scene of sheer artistry with so many different movements and expressions. Each performer captivating in their own unique way, leaving me feeling incredibly inspired. Now, you're probably thinking, “Emma, why do you even care about these ballet shows? Are you planning on getting back on stage?” Well, let’s just say that I wouldn’t be saying no anytime soon. And while I don’t have a specific gig lined up, the fact that I was invited to perform at one of these amazing gardens made my heart soar. There’s just something truly special about expressing yourself through dance, in front of such a diverse crowd. It fills my heart with an incredible sense of accomplishment and joy, especially when seeing so many different backgrounds united by a love for movement and beauty.

Food, Fashion, and Pink Tutus

The real treat of Milan is undoubtedly the food. From delicious espresso in cute little cafes to mouth-watering pizzas straight from wood-fired ovens, every culinary delight is a symphony of flavours. I wouldn’t miss it for the world, especially since it makes for such beautiful Instagram shots!

You know I just had to find some outfits to pair with my tutus for those pictures. I found the perfect combination of pink and white stripes that just screams summer in Milan. It goes to show, a pink tutu isn't just for dancing, it’s for life! And yes, my goal, as always, is to spread this message far and wide. My dream is that one day everyone will have a pink tutu tucked away somewhere, waiting for that perfect moment to unleash their inner ballerina!

Farewell, Milan, Ciao Bella!

My time in Milan was a dream come true. From fashion shows to captivating ballet performances, from quaint little cafes to bustling street markets, Milan truly enchanted me. But my travels don't stop here! Next week I'm taking you all on another journey, exploring new cities, experiencing new cultures, and finding more reasons to fall in love with the world through the lens of pink tutus. I'll be back with a fresh, new blog post on Monday. Until then, remember to be your own inner ballerina, embrace life's adventures, and dance like nobody's watching!

Yours truly, * *Emma
